Insane prices for blueprints

I frequently read offers on chat for blueprints that are sold in the tens of millions in gold. How come that one can have so much money as to spend it for one single blueprint?

I play since several years now and if I accumulate every gold ever earned either in game or by selling on guild stores I may have had 20m optimistically...

I mean I would maybe spent 10% of my gold for a blueprint that I really want hard. So paying let's say 30m for a blueprint I would have to have 300m on my bank account. How is such a staggering amount possible?

Can anyone of you give me an advice of how to improve my gold income - for ppl like me who have to work for a living?

What I've done is farm the specific plans/patterns I want (doing vampiric ones in Nchuthnkarst with 5 toons atm) and sell the extras. Some of those vamp plans go from a mil to anywhere around 6 mil on PCNA. If I need to buy a plan or two, I have the gold selling my extra plans for it. Also, save your gold until the jubilee event where those rare plans will be dropping in the boxes. Their prices will drop then. ;)
    @Djennku, PCNA.

Well, first of all you have to figure if getting that stuff is really that important. Personally I farm for what I really need, which at the moment is gold tempers, and maybe a mythic.

If you want to improve gold income, you need to farm items that sell for a lot. Check out the Tamriel Trade Centre website and trading addons like Master Merchant (I am sure people who trade more than I do can help you out with exactly which addons you need). Then join trading guilds, farm / create items and sell, sell, sell.

    Funny that you say that...

IMHO the problem is a lack of gold sinks. There are very few things you can buy in game with gold (not trading with other players, that just moves gold around) that are worthwhile so at some point gold just start to accumulate to ridiculous levels. And the more gold people have the more they are willing to spend to outbid other players on a coveted, rare item. It's the typical gold inflation of any MMO where gold gets created magickly every time you kill a mob or finish a quest that's been around for a few years.
ZOS pumping extra gold into the game with daily rewards and double gold events isn't helping either. It does not negatively affect me much, but for new players it can be a real turn off seeing those prices.

    "make"
Did he "make" that week 300 million turnover or 300 million profit ?

Making 300 million turnover at zero profit is quite easy when in a top trader location

@AnduinTryggva, you farm one junk to sell it and buy another -- the economy works exactly this way.

There are very few furnishing plans falling into "megamillion" category
If we start with 5M then our list opens with
Praxis: Elsweyr Platform, Ancient Rectangular - it drops only at final Boss kills in the Lair of Maarselok
Next are very rare Ayleid recipes, which drop in Bonesnap Ruins in Stormhaven, and Rulanyil’s Fall in Greenshade but the drop chances are very very low, hense, the prices...
Finally, Praxis: Khajiit Brazier, Enchanted which drops very rare from pre-Elsweyr dailies in Cormount, Grahtwood

i won't recommend chasing any of these, but levelling your Companions in Ayleid ruins dungeons might be a good idea, as you will have to kill a lot of mobs (for Companions' XP and for a chance of Ayleid plan drop)

But something in a "million" weight category - is another topic:

I often spend 1.5 .. 2 hours continuously stealing in Vastyr for purple Druidic/High Isle furnishing plans,
as they are new and most demanded. Normally on average this results in one good plan a week (and you get several base game purple furnishing plans which go for 20..30K)
I rotate 3..4 thieves (because of cooldowns) with 100+ free bag slots and JunkBuster addon autodeleting white treasures, stolen cloth gear and stolen food ingredients, for stolen gear i use decon Assistant on the spot.

I already sold 4 plans for about 1,5M each, but spent money to buy another expensive furnishing plans i wanted (as i craft often and like decorating houses), including druidic oven (which i really really wanted to learn) and such
So you farm anything what sells well (like resources, recipes, whatsoever), sell it and buy what you want, this exchanging yours time spent on the time spent by other players, yes?

10 hours of continuous farming well worth a million, so real farming for furnishing plans is not much fun, but reasonable gold per hour. You don't like furnishing plans prices, but they are just a result of demand/supply situation on the market.
You can farm anything expensive too, like me and others do, though it would be more a tedious job, rather than relaxing fun gaming.

You might like to check Arttea at Youtube for her great gold--making suggestions. :)

    EDIT:
Lazy income: do crafting dailies on multiple characters, surveys chances are 1:8. Do the surveys, refine raw materials with all the best refining passives and green disassembly CP star slotted - then sell gold tempers. Works perfect with Chromium platings which go for 260K..270K at PC EU nowadays.

Oh forgot to mention: you can buy already made furnishings and/or ask the crafters in your guilds to make you furnishings from your materials for a little fee, then you would not need to spend them megamillions on the plans.

I remember struggling to get the 10k I needed when you actually had to buy your first horse. Then you get to a point where gold is just another inventory item. I spent over 33 million to own every house available for gold in the game and have nothing left I really want to buy.

My main source of income was always daily writs on multiple characters. Doing them every day on 8 characters and selling just the odd items in the reward crates brings in a million a month. That's before you even look at selling anything from the surveys you get.

Making gold is easy if you make a plan and stick to it.

She's great! Her advice to find ways to earn gold doing things you enjoy to get more out of your game time is the best thing ever.

It is a nice surprise to see a fancy thing drop out of the blue, and though I was initially doubting whether it would actually sell for the suggested TTC prices, selling it gave me plenty of gold to throw away on other furnishing items.

It was 300 M turnover, but as I prepared well before the event buying items very cheap when they were, id argue that the profit rate was still at around 50-70% that week, , so 150M+ profit. Pretty sure thats unique :)
