Why can't mounts swim?

Just curious why there has never been a consideration to have mount swim training? I think some motif styles would go really well with sea-themed mounts it seems like a missed opportunity to have some pretty interesting mounts that can also swim.

Yes, mounts should be able to swim like they did in previous TES games. Has been asked for numerous times over the years.

I've been wondering that same thing. Why can't mounts go in the water and swim. My tiger mount in world of warcraft can swim and my wolf mount can run on water.

I suggest that mounts with a variety of unique passive abilities such as increased jumping height, water running, fast swimming, and gliding should be added into Elderscrolls. I would buy a lot more mounts, not only the ones that look cool, but, if they can also do very awesome stuff. 👍

... and the next thing you know, horse swimming training scrolls would appear in the crown store, and this training would be required daily.

Funny enough that was the original design where the different mounts had special abilities, and the one special ability was infinite sprinting.

Infinite sprinting ended up going to all mounts and the idea totally scrapped once ZOS realized they could sell more mounts, and making stats for each one was going to be a nightmare. Then infinite sprint was taken away when they rebalanced all mounts a while back.

I will add that it would be correct to have local mounts for each location. Which are more adapted to this zone. For example, in the Alik'r desert, some of the mounts will be faster (camels), in the jungle they are cats, and so on

    is a feature.

To fully enjoy it I strongly recommend Vvardenfell. Nothing beats the feeling of getting dismounted every 5s because you've hit a patch of water that is 1mm too deep.

    Pure joy that is.

Back at release you had your basic horse who you could train up over 50 days to get 50 of an skill or split them, standard was PvE horse with 50 into inventory, and you bought an horse who came with 10 in speed build in and added say 40 speed and 10 stamina for PvP. Then you had to swap horse at the stable before going to Cyrodil to not riding around on the slower PvE horse.

Then they added the crown store, they did not want us to have to level up horses we bought so they moved skill from horse to caracter and let us level up 3*60.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

You monsters would feed your mounts to the slaughterfish!

Dramatic outburst aside, it'd def break some of the artificial barriers, if you could have your horse tank some of the damage.

I'd like to see my Dwarven spider swim. Maybe if they'll give it some floaties...

I guess not enough memory for all the additional animations on last gen consoles may be a reason
