Magelight. It's terrible...

stasa1981eb17_ESO
How it was possible to make such an annoying animation and not notice it.
Or is this part of the test (torture) when it is used?..
This spell so need, but because he have this obsession animation I can't use him - terribly annoying.
Just do off option animation orb for him or remade as another "blue eyes", ears, hands...
In addition, his toggle function work incorrectly. He untoggle everytime, when u change location(loading screens) and etc. But he should not! My class spell -leech strikes, one time toggled never off, while I do not want. This is true work of toggle spell.
Please. Go to meet with players - correct animation(another / can be off) and make it normal as toggle mode.

Thanks for attention and sorry for poor english

All summons are like this. They have to be recast when you teleport places. I think it's fine, just be aware you have to resummons. Bound armor works the same and I don't mind the animation, it's so sneaking players have a good idea of who to avoid in PVP... also a good animation for leading a group to sky shards or around some of the more complicated ruins.

As Pyatra said, all summoned items/creatures will need to be recast when teleporting from place to place, or entering a dungeon. I have often 'charged' into battle only to realize that my faithful minions were not with me. But, I quickly learned to look about and see them (or lack of them) after any type of travelling.

The animation is VERY annoying indeed.
I don't mind switching it on after every loading screen, BUT having that giant light bulb circling around my character's head is DISTRACTING, UGLY and COUNTERPRODUCTIVE. How in the burning hells would a giant ball of light in front of my face enable me to see hidden enemies? More like burn my eyes out.

It's enough that Inner Light morph makes your whole face glow BLUE in so bad way it looks terrible.

Not to mention it kills my fashion sense to see my hands glow blue as Pyromancer..

I thought when inner light was chosen it just caused the glowing eyes and hands, I didn't see the orb on other players with this but I do have it still. Is this just a display bug where you still see it on yourself?

Really? You're complaining about mage light? It's so game breaking you can't use it now? Really? Anything else while you're at it? You happy with the dance emote? It not game breaking to you? How about the arm angle when casting spells , you cool with that?

actually, magelight is freaking dumb as a bucket of turtles. I so much preferred Oblivions Nighteye or Detect Life spell to that stupid glowing orb from Skyrim. That's one of the mods I always use when I play it. What's the point of a 'seeing aid' spell that's distracting to the person using it? It's nonsensical design and no spellcaster worth their salt would use it.

LOL so you're OK with mythical creatures, a made-up world and lore etc but a glowing light-bulb helping you to see is a bridge too far. :p

If I played first person that magelight orb would annoy.

Not sure why a bucket of turtles is dumb though, that could be a lot of soup!

Animation is annoying, as is the sound. Blue glow should be enough for it with OPTIONAL orb to light up terrain.

It could be changed so it's a slotted passive, like Regeneration aura - and when it's activated it launches the orb. It would remain the same - sneaking characters would see the orb on enemy model all the time.

    Sorted, nice, elegant.

I like the animation of magelight, the only thing that would improve it for me is the ability to alter the color to something different like purple, gold, blue-green, etc...

Another thing is that the bonus to crit is SO HUGE you CANNOT ignore it. Every sane caster has it on his bar, wasting a slot. Melees have it easier since they are getting 21% PASSIVELY from medium armor, while casters have to waste slot for 20%.

I just wish they made a 6th ability slot, that could ONLY hold "toggle" ability, and everyone could choose what to put in there - Inner Light, Bound Armor, summons, Inferno or whatever other toggle this game has.

That's a great idea. I am going to /feedback that. I recommend everybody who agrees does the same!

What you are saying is that having a toggled ability like mage light is so (bad/good) that everyone should be given it for free, instead of actually making a decision?

I feel like taking away decisions is a bad thing, no matter the angle.

If you don't like Magelight, wait until you try Sea of Flames, Spirit Siphon, Fossilize, Igneous Shield, or Eruption. (and then compare them with their other morphed counterparts after paying over 10k for a respec..)

There's more than one pointless/broken/yawn/meh/wth broken skill in this game. :)

LoL at people complaining about having to press a button to use a skill. Have we really become THAT lazy as a society?

What next? Want someone to play the game for you too? Id say the most annoying part of it is the fact that casting it while in combat doesnt actually increase the crit on your character sheet. Idk if thats a UI issue or if it is in fact broken when in combat.

Exactly. Making the magelight animation less obvious would amount to a major nerf for stealthers (that is, once the general public actually starts making good use of magelight in PvP).

I could accept moving the light a little lower around the body though, maybe to knee height. It would look silly, but it would be a lot less obtrusive during game play.

    This^^
I like the animation. It's a lot less obtrusive than some (Ball of Lightning - I'm looking at you) and it shows clearly the best place to look for stealthers being popped out.
    - I use it all the time in PvP.

I don't think it has any use in PvE though?

Surely 20% spell crit is nothing in pve. Did you even seen it morphed into Inner Light? What a guy...

And if it would hover slightly behind and above the characer, instead swirling around causing annoyance to the player, whie making TERRIBLE HISSING SOUND that is only audible to the caster - that would affect you how exactly? How it would change pvp experience, if it would be perfectly visible?

Seriously, you people are getting dumber and dumber with every new game.

Having the orb circle around is nice for exploring dungeons or playing at in-game nighttime while you have insane screen-glare. Besides that, the orb is distracting, ruins your sight and makes it literally impossible to remain in combat (meaning having it toggled on) for longer than 10 minutes without causing serious headaches.
As for the possible functionalities like leading a group or warning enemy players that you have stealth detection: other players do not see the orb 90% of the time.
I'm not sure whether this is due to a visual bug or intentional reasons, but normally the only way to see if a player has magelight activated is by the glowing arms/eyes provided by the inner light morph.
The inner light morph is the reason I use the skill in my crit-healer skillbar. However due to not being able to see the orb on other players I assumed that the glowing arms and eyes (awesome in my opinion) were the only things visible when having the skill toggled on.
My suggestion: take a second look at this skill (along with some others of course, but since this topic is about magelight, let's keep it at that  ) and give a total overhaul to it's visuals.

If they remove the orb for Inner Light, I'd be happy. I really dislike the orb, and was looking forward to using Inner Light because I thought it would be gone (like when I look at another player using it). It is strange how the orb only appears for the player, and onlookers don't see it. Either way, the eye and arm glow is more than enough visuals for the skill. Its called Inner Light, not Inner with Outer Light.

Um.. I do... and I am sure lots of people play this one in 1st person. I just posted a feedback about the Templars Solar Barrage too. In 1st person, there is this blinding halo of light around the camera edges that reduces visibility about 50%..

I actually hated it enough to respec my character to remove it.

I avoid this skill on my sorc, largely because I find the animation and sound so annoying. I only use it if I'm in a dungeon DPS role, as there it's expected.

Look, as a pyromancer, it's an absolute must, since you're dealing crapton of damage usually in small ticks that all can crit.. I just wish I could turn off the visual, since kinda all my other spells are fiery and the blue glow and gigantic light orb are not really fitting in..

but hell, I hope they'll just do something with it till summer... right now my laptop is broken (fan is broken - can't stay turned on for 1 minute due to extensive heat the fan generates) and all I have left is a tablet and a crappy old laptop that's tearing even with 1999's Tiberian Sun... Well, at least I can't procrastinate so well, maybe I'm going to pass exams this semester for a change?
