Birds(joke, calm down)

Why is it I can kill literally anything else but birds? I can kill bears, mudcrabs, hell, I can off civilians, but I can't kill birds. We already went down the rabbit hole, I don't think you'll [snip] off PETA at this point if I get to zap a bird or two.

Some animals aren't creatures you can kill. They're just environmental critters you can interact with some other way (e.g. butterflies *may* drop wings when you catch them) or just part of the "scenery".

Should be killable and usable in provisioning just like fish.
Pluck them and get a chance for a "perfect" egg.

I've been wondering that in Elderscrolls too.

Why can't my kahjiit attack birds? Kahjiits are cats so they should be able to jump up and catch birds in mid flight. Once a bird is catched, it will drop feathers as a crafting item.

Also in Elderscrolls with the chicken npcs running around. When the chicken npc gets attacked with lightning or fire spells, then players should receive fried chicken food items for loot.

I have one character who is a hunter - I'd like to be able to have her kill birds for meat the way the way she does deer and other animals.

She doesn't kill farm critters though.

Answer? Too much of a good thing can cause problems. There are already too many rabbits, squirrels, spiders, rats that get in the line of fire and cause you to waste your spells/arrows when trying to kill actual foes. I'd actually tone down a bit the number of very minor critters that you can kill simply so they don't interfere with combat. Because birds are often in the air I suspect they would be even a bigger problem than the little groundlings.

A few less killable minor critters could actually render Bastion a usable companion. Just sayin'.

I've been playing Shadow of Mordor and you can kill the birds in that. And bats in caves. There's actually a challenge.

But the orcs aren't as friendly.

Yes, that is definitely true. Of course, parrots wouldn't be anything my hunter would consider edible anyway! She's more interested in game birds....

I made an farming mod in Skyrim, HA with an farming how spawned planting soil you add an seed and it grew into an plant who could be harvester on plant reset as in 3 days. As bird nests in Skyrim is plants as creation engine see it I let you plant eggs. If egg is not harvested in some time it become an chicken.

Tried to do this with spiders so you could have spiders as an minefield but newer managed to get them to be in my faction

its one special location named for the monkeys, so they might not be killable there, you can also not kill cats or dogs.

its one special location named for the monkeys, so they might not be killable there, you can also not kill cats or dogs.

The monkeys at Monkeys Rest are killable too - I always start there.

You can kill some herons, so there is that at least.

Hew's Bane and Gold Coast if memory serves. I haven't exactly gone Heron hunting. Maybe in Summerset too? It's been a while.

Sometimes it's just nice to have some animals that are part of the scenery and ambiance instead of everything being victim to the type of player who bounds through the countryside hurling lightning at every single small creature like a hyperactive toddler.

That's hilarious, I literally just panned through the Morrowind thread and read how you always do good by my man Fargoth because your characters are all benevolent BUT HERE YOU ARE SLAUGHTERING MONKEYS FOR THEIR 'NANIES!

Real talk though I used to go out of my way not to kill Mudcrabs because they aren't hurting anyone but then I ran out of chitin and now its open season on the beaches and waterways of Tamriel. I'm beginning to wonder if Mudcrab aggressiveness in the 3rd and 4th era has its roots in our actions in the 2nd...

you can kill chickens, chubloons, herons, and terror birds

i think if you could kill the birds that fly away when you get close like parrots, corvids, and owls then there's a chance their corpse would float in the air like the harpies in the Blackheart Haven group dungeon which you wouldn't be able to loot or zos just likes those birds too much to let you kill them
