MS post
https://news.microsoft.com/2023/02/21/microsoft-and-nvidia-announce-expansive-new-gaming-deal/

Full post:

Microsoft and NVIDIA today announced the companies have agreed to a 10-year partnership to bring Xbox PC games to the NVIDIA® GeForce NOW™ cloud gaming service, which has more than 25 million members in over 100 countries.

The agreement will enable gamers to stream Xbox PC titles from GeForce NOW to PCs, macOS, Chromebooks, smartphones and other devices. It will also enable Activision Blizzard PC titles, such as Call of Duty, to be streamed on GeForce NOW after Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision closes.

“Xbox remains committed to giving people more choice and finding ways to expand how people play,” said Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer. “This partnership will help grow NVIDIA’s catalog of titles to include games like Call of Duty, while giving developers more ways to offer streaming games. We are excited to offer gamers more ways to play the games they love.”

“Combining the incredibly rich catalog of Xbox first party games with GeForce NOW’s high-performance streaming capabilities will propel cloud gaming into a mainstream offering that appeals to gamers at all levels of interest and experience,” said Jeff Fisher, senior vice president for GeForce at NVIDIA. “Through this partnership, more of the world’s most popular titles will now be available from the cloud with just a click, playable by millions more gamers.”

The partnership delivers increased choice to gamers and resolves NVIDIA’s concerns with Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard. NVIDIA therefore is offering its full support for regulatory approval of the acquisition.

Microsoft and NVIDIA will begin work immediately to integrate Xbox PC games into GeForce NOW, so that GeForce NOW members can stream PC games they buy in the Windows Store, including third-party partner titles where the publisher has granted streaming rights to NVIDIA. Xbox PC games currently available in third party stores like Steam or Epic Games Store will also be able to be streamed through GeForce NOW.

Visit the GeForce NOW website for more information on the service and follow along every GFN Thursday for the latest news, including release dates for upcoming Microsoft game titles coming to the GeForce NOW service.

The agreement was announced today at a Microsoft press conference in Brussels, Belgium. Microsoft also shared today that it finalized a 10-year agreement to bring the latest version of Call of Duty to the Nintendo platform following the merger with Activision.

I'd pay Nvidia the £8 a month to be able to have this, I'd happily give up all my addons to play PVP on anything other than LOW settings

    Maybe!

The real motivation behind this deal, for those interested, is for Microsoft to prove to courts around the world that they're actively pursuing legally binding long-term contracts for Call of Duty to not just continue being on PlayStation as it is now, but under Microsoft's stewardship actually become more widely available. There is some concern that Microsoft buying Activision will lead to fewer options for gamers, particularly fears of CoD going Xbox only, so Microsoft are working hard to show the opposite will be true.

GeForce Now is the smaller announcement today. They also announced that CoD/Microsoft will have a 10-year licence with Nintendo (presumably that's mostly for Switch 2, but there are some visually demanding games on Switch that are streaming-only, so it could include that too).

It would certainly be nice to be able to play ESO on my chromebook, tv and phone again. Being stuck to a single pc just sucks.

you can install steam on chromebook already. if you got a high end chromebook you could easily play triple a games on it

eso steam version is on boosteroid, but only for browser version (didn't saw it as choice on phone).

log in on steam via QR code phone authenticator.

it doesn't have library/account sinc; save sinc had some complications (for other games - eso doesn't need); will probably work even on adsl (Down 20/Up 2)despite higher recommended speeds.

(may not be connected but after registering at boosteroid have started to receive some Polish(?) spam/scam emails)

Yep...in a few years it really isn't going to matter what device your on I think...there is too much money being left on the ground for them not to.

eso was on geforcenow until zos made them take it down, likely for stadia exclusivity. No reason why it shouldnt be playable there since they just give you remote access to a pc or some vm version. Wether the pc is in my livingroom or accessed remotely, it really shouldnt matter. Zos was def wrong to ever compel them to take it off geforce now, if indeed that was the problem. No reason why you coudnt install minion and addons either since you're running a remote pc.

This makes me so happy, yes it's onBoosteroid but the performance is sub par 50% of the time.

    Time to re-seub to GFN.

Oh nice! I don't use GeForce because I've got a PC now and my area isn't supported, but glad to hear people can use it to play! I know too many people who stopped playing ESO due to Stadia being closed.

For anyone who plays this on Boosteroid that is wondering if swapping to geforce now is worth it.....1000% yes.

    Boosteroid performance is horrible compared.

Does it work through a web browser? If so, might work from an iPad?

Then it will probably work through Safari because Microsoft their whole xCloud and GeForce Now works through Safari as well on iOS (because Apple didn't allow game streaming until March 24)

They confirmed this on Twitter, and I confirmed that it uses the Steam login to get into the game. I was hoping I could divert it into my non-Steam account (primary account). Then I could use it remotely from hotel rooms, etc, like I did with Stadia. Sadly, not possible unless I want to play my Steam account.

Maybe some day ZOS and Bethesda will allow the people who bought the game from the Bethesda store to use it.

It doesn't even show up on iPhone. I was hoping I would finally have a Stadia replacement for playing ESO on the go but it looks like that isn't happening right now. Bummer.

I see the same thing here. I can see New World, though, so not entirely a loss. I never considered GeForce NOW to catch up with New World.
