Returning player here, some help please?

Hello I haven't played this game for like 3 years and I want to try this game again but...
I don't know what to do, should i make a new character again and try a new class from a new faction or should I continue on my own given the fact that when I bought ESO+ i rushed a bit through the contents and let much side quests unfinished and i dropped the game after summer set while also gotten bored of my soccer. And if I should make a new character what class should I choose between warden or Necro?

Alright here I have another problem from what I seen, is the quality of expansion fading? Like I seen that after Elsweyr ESO expansion had really bad reviews (greymor, blackwood and high isle), do the newer expansion sucks?

And the last one, how much is the cost of crowns through gold now? Yes I know I can always buy ESO+ but I am already subbed to ffxiv and I want to avoid it for now and I also found a good deal for high isle collector edition which but it won't give me the dlc only the expansions.

Sorry if the grammar is bad, I am on my phone.

Edit: Forgot to ask, does the game still has the same predatory market that push you toward ESO+?
Like bruh at least made it 10 euros not 14...

My advice would be to start over, but to do so with whatever type of character you fancy - and play the game fully through without rushing content or imagining that there is some magical endgame that is better than the rest of the game and must therefore be reached quickly. There's a wonderful journey to be enjoyed in ESO but some skip it in their quest for the perfect endgame PvE or PvP.

I haven't noticed any decline in the content in recent years, but I can't comment on your question about crowns/gold because I have zero interest in that.

In my opinion, I would start with a new character. Trying to figure out where you left off might be a bit overwhelming.

    Don’t delete your old character!

Just start a new one. Later on, when you are more used to the game you can pick the old character again.

The newer expansions are fine (of the newer ones, Greymoor was the worst in its story for me. The Reach section redeems it a bit but it’s still not a great one. ) what I think makes the newer ones get bad reviewed is that eso’s early expansions were just so good.

Morrowind-Clockwork city - Summerset story line is spectacular. So the newer ones are a bit disappointing when comparing eso to itself really.

One thing that is going to happen to you is that you will be overwhelmed with quest starters for different zones. Choose a direction and just put blinders up against the distractions. Do the areas you want to do and have fun!

(I usually post from my phone too. 😆)

Edit: I can’t give a value of gold to crowns at the moment. But I know crowns are very expensive to buy with gold.

Others have said it, and I did the same a while back, after returning from a two year break. Re-learn the game via a new character. Don't delete your old characters, as you may want to bring them back out after you re-familiarize yourself with the game.

    Greetings,

This thread has been moved to the Players Helping Players section, as it is better suited there.

    Thank you for your understanding.

Btw i forgot, you could start with the story of any alliance no matter your race and the companions (molag bal) questline will continue in the zone you choosed to do it first right?
Because If i will want to do Caldwell silver it should go with the order of the faction i choosed to complete no matter the race.
