Hide any part in outfit station

I know there are many other things that could/should be addressed on the long list of “things to fix”. Having said that, can we please have the option to hide any of the different bits of gear? I know that some may argue that we would see a bunch of people running around in their underwear, but we can already do that. If this is too much, at least let us have the option to hide the tasset (the hip parts on the chest piece)? IMO it doesn’t look very good on a lot of styles.

I would like to have these hide any armor pieces too. With that option I could make my characters run around barefoot.

I'm sure if you give people that option, half of them will run naked with some idiotic helmets on their heads in only brass pink boots. Tamriel will turn into a circus of freaks.

I'm more concern why the "hide shoulder" needs to be purchased through event tickets. The "hide helm" was just a game feature, you don't even need to pay gold for that. :/

I'm pretty sure people said that about giving us the option to dye weapons too. "Everyone will be running around with bright pink weapons, it will kill immersion" Spoiler alert: That didn't happen.

And even if it happens this time, who cares? There is literally a Costume that is just a bathing towel, and people don't complain about that, or the fact that there's like, 3 different types of bikini's (These are actually rather tasteful).

Personally, I'd love the option to hide any Body armour. Partly because I like knowing I have options, but also some outfits just look better with no hand coverings, or shoes, or what have you. Barbarian characters happen to look great shirtless for instance.

Na, the user has a point.

A lot of ppl will run around just in their underwear and helmet...

It's not needed anyhow as we have a lot of motifs that allow running around near naked let alone the nordic bathing suit costume.

WoW lets players hide everything but pants. The last time I played there weren't a bunch of mostly naked players running around but most just hid shoulders, gloves, bracers and belts.

I really don't think this would be a problem here either if they did something similar.

You will see people acting out their silly little fantasies playing obnoxious characters.

You'll also see some nice outfits without floating flaps and clipping.

I say let them both have their fun.

It seems like I am not the only one that wants this. Maybe the powers that be are waiting to put this in the crown store for a rainy day? I wonder if there is some sort of coding issue that makes this request impossible or improbable? At any rate, take my coins.

@Codeman1976 I agree with you entirely. Being able to hide any slot is potentially no worse than the tubby orc wearing a pink nordic bathers towel riding a lion that I routinely see in one of the undaunted enclaves. . . . I believe that letting players make those choices for themselves is more important that possibly offending someones sensibilities. I'd rather see naked players than the menagerie of flaming, freezing, exploding, obtrusively obnoxious mounts we have now.

    More options is good:
-A bare-chested Nord barbarian? Of course.
-Shoulders? Why in the world not?
    -Helms? Already got it.
-Hands and Feet? Maybe an Argonian or Khajitt wants their claws out for fighting/traction.
    -Belt? Who cares.
-Pants? Well, my little wood elf would be happy wearing a mid thigh tunic with no pants. If fact it would be less revealing than many of the short skirts available now.

Yeah there was a bunch of comments about pink weapons ruining the game. And for a week or two after we were able to dye weapons there was a lot of goofy stuff then people settled back in. My thinking on this is some of my characters have had incredible body art done and would like to show it off.

If Almalexia can go around with no trousers why can't I? :D

I would have agreed not legs but here's an outfit somewhere in the megathread that doesn't use any, and shows off the body markings running all down the legs, that looks really awesome. Would love to do something like that.

I'm all for 'hide any part.' If we're going to have our collections menu filled with tattoos, the least they can do is give us a way to show them off.

What's the problem? It's not 'Lore Appropriate?' What, is there something preventing people from making fat Orcs in pink Bathers Towels? Or something that prevents people from using flashy Radiant Apex mounts?

I get the "I like the loooooore!" idea, but I'm also okay with other people in the world. And if I want to see the world without people expressing themselves, then I can go in at off hours or just go on PTS.

Now that it's coming with the next patch, I hope that the others can be inbound soon as well. I vote belts next, but I'd also love to see gloves and chests. And boots. And pants.

Besides, naked characters are lore appropriate. Have you seen the number of naked Nords in Vvardenfell?

I firmly feel that people overestimate the desire of other players to run around in "silly" outfits. Sure, you'll get a few people who do-thats par for the course. But the amount of people who do creative and interesting things by removing a gear piece or adding to it far outweighs them.

And in my opinion, if someone wants to make a silly character, so what? I get a good laugh out of most of those I see. Let them have their fun.

But with that being said, I've seen people make some really drop dead gorgeous or even heroic looking costumes by removing various pieces of gear from sight (Yes, even pants. Believe it or not, but there are those that can make fantastic outfits by removing the pants and utilizing tunics and other outfit pieces to great effect. )

I doubt that everyone is going to suddenly shriek Hallelujah and run around trouserless. In the first few days? Sure. You bet your pasted-on, standard issue black undergarments people will. But that will get old as people get used to the system, and it will begin to mellow out in time.

Full support for this. Let people get as creative or as silly as they want.

I guess its an invisible shoulder piece, think the invisible horse, on females medium Orcish belt is hidden. on pretty much all styles since it so far back as another example.

As for barefoot we have the Falmer boots who is barefoot but with leg armor.

People can already just take off their gear while running around town. Nothing changes.
On pc with dressing room this is trivial, seen people in town with legerdemain clothing who is more common than in the underwear.
Now its an female npc at the harbor in Senchal who is in her underwear. It might well be an bug as newer seen others in the underwear unless it make sense like bathing or hand their cloth stolen.

Just adding my voice to yet another post about this subject. I'm very happy we're finally getting the "hide shoulders" option coming up but I agree with the OP that hiding of other pieces should be an option. Especially considering those options are all in the game already but just not enabled.

So, in order of importance (imho) I'd love to see the following "hide" options added as well:

    1. Belts
    2. Gloves (including "bracers" that are built-in to chest pieces)
    3. Tassets
    4. Crotch/butt flaps
    5. Boots (including "socks" that are built-in to leg pieces)
    6. Chest pieces (This one gets controversial, I could accept this as a non-starter. This is why I kept it to the last.)

I won't bother to suggest the pants. That, at the very least, keeps people from being completely in their underwear and still gives us tons of options. And these, of course, are options. More choice is always better.

Agreed. More choices is better. I am saddened that most of the motif styles hide whatever body markings/tattoos a character may have which is unseen by anyone else. Unless you’re an Argonian or Khajiit, then you cannot have a body marking and a tattooed at the same time, but that’s a different subject altogether.

Simple, they could very well prevent hiding the pants if the chest is already and vice versa. Look like these are the only 2 elements that are subject to debate.

With all the extremely ridiculous (and sometimes horribly ugly) skins & outfits *bath towel cough* already in the game -- I can't see why anyone would object against something like this. The way I see it, let people express however they want, the ship of keeping a tame and lore friendly looking Tamriel is long gone.

I run a “naked Nord” character right now who just doesn’t use several slots, and so is gimped by a certain amount because of that choice. Soloing a Group Boss is about all we can achieve now, so we hope the addition of hidden shoulders will improve things.

So this is not about what characters will wear, but what they can do while wearing it.
