Access Code for logging into the game

For the past 2 weeks I keep getting access code messages on both of my computers. I don't get an access code email at all and they are the same computers I've always played ESO on and should recognize ESO. One computer doesn't even have addons and I know it isn't an addon issue. I've submitted a couple bug reports with no response. I also have friends with the same issue as well. I'm not sure what the cause is or the reasoning for it.

Forgot to mention that I am able to log in at some points but sometimes it's up to ten minutes of access code messages before I can even log in. Same issue my friends are getting. I'm not sure about friends but I run ESO through the main client and not steam. Haven't tried steam as I don't own ESO through steam. Also made sure ESO was not blocked by email and allowed through firewalls.

There is another thread of this same issue...
    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/626719/would-love-to-see-that-verification-email

Basically close out of the access code message and log in as normal. Thankfully I've only gotten this message once in the past couple of weeks, and when no access code came through I checked the forums and found the above linked post.

It seems like the "code request" is fake. No email ever arrives and you can just cancel and re-type the password and it will work.

The verification email for the eso account website works fine though. It is only the in-game message that is fake and can be ignored.

This is kinda um... a big security flaw but I guess there is nothing we can do about it & wait for some official fix.

I did find one work around. I don't get the fake message through steam at all. I'd prefer not using steam but only work around till we get an official fix. Granted. You have to buy eso for steam and link your eso and steam account
