not what i was expecting but ok....

this is focused on the new feature that was promised and hyped up quite a bit for ESO stream.....
they said it was something that players had been asking for for a long time but i legitimitely never heard a single person ask or hope for that i know....
supposedly the new feature is an endless dungeon... no doubt something probably locked behind a paywall and gives us more gear that is pretty much mandatory to farm...

I was expecting something a little less short term in the way of a "feature" like the option to stealth all armor pieces or just certain ones at outfit stations....
spell crafting would have been cool as well and possibly even more worth it in the eyes of many...

The dungeon is Q4. The hyped up feature is the new class. Which isn’t a tentpole repeatable system or a system at all so I dunno what’s up with that.

Actually, highly requested thing they're adding is the new class with the chapter. The endless dungeon is their new "tentpole" system.

Hopefully improvements to outfit customization will be in Q3. I’d love to be able to hide more armor pieces too, especially shoulders and belts, but that could hardly be considered a feature! A long overdue QoL update…

Yeah but bard wouldnt have worked the way those people wanted anyway. While some vocal magic exist, its realy rare. It either thuum, dwemer or like that 1 single npc on anemos. Traditional bard are just regular musician in elderscroll, see bard college in solitude.

So even if it wasnt THE class, its still a class

An endless dungeon is very nearly the last thing I would have asked for, after anything related to PVP. If it's something other people really desperately wanted, then I'm happy for them, but it sure seemed to come out of left field.

The "most requested feature" is the/a new class.
But 2-people content was suggested and "survival mode" (endless waves of enemies) is something some people suggested as an alternative to harder overland content. If you can oneshot everything the game can throw at you, how much of it can you handle at once and for how long?
I'd say it's a fun concept. Now it just needs to be worth doing too and that touches on reworking the reward structures in the game in general - which is something even more people wanted.

I’m glad it wasn’t a bard. I mean, that’s never been a thing in TES, has it? I know there were classes called bard, among others, but you didn’t go singing into battle. Is that what people were wanting? I can’t imagine how it would work in an MMO and not be obnoxious.

It was a thing, but that was because Speechcraft was a skill. So you could have the bard class and get a starting bonus in Speech and haggling. But that doesn't translate into an MMO like ESO. Being a bard says nothing about how you fight and everything about how you earn coins at a tavern. A personality, costumes and emotes should be all we need to fullfill our bardic fantasies.

There were always references to Lovecraft's stories in TES Lore. Hermaeus Mora being only one of them. So it's not new.

Another good example is hackdirt in oblivion. The entire village and quest is entirely a lovecraft reference.

Yes. That's the most obvious example, in my opinion.

TES3 Morrowind with its Sixth House bases, sleepers, ash creatures and the blight was quite Lovecraftian as well.

I remember going to a Sixth House base for the first time — the monsters, the weird stacks of furniture, the lighting, all so creepy! Morrowind already felt like another world and then that was down the rabbit hole!

Those bases are still the creepiest places of whole TES for me, to be honest, and I'm 20 years older now :D This subtle feeling that... something is just not right. Plus the lingering danger that you could get infected there. I think that's more intense than all the straightforward gory "horror" stuff.

Well being a bard doesnt necessarily mean you HAVE to sing into battle.. You could give one mighty roar to buff yourself and allies, then ulilize spells small spells with clever poet type names or scrolls of magic... (ex. Might o Ice could be a frost damage skill, of course you wouldnt hear the bard say that every cast but when you saw them cast it you would know that it is the spell they were casting if that makes any sense xD) then most of their audio identity would probably come from their roaring or possibly laughter spells...

If the endless dungeon is a sort of drop in, drop out dungeon with actually challenging content, that we can do solo and in groups It will be something I wanted.
Ideally I want challenging solo/group overland content but this will suffice.

Public dungeons are of course just no challenge and solo arenas are a chore rather than a light hearted content I can drop in and out of.
Ideally I want the endless dungeon to have some sort of tel var mechanic, either we lose and retrieve like a dark souls game or we just accumulate a currency in exchange for rewards at a merchant.
So we can grind it at our own leisure instead of being bound for X amount of time to get X reward or have to complete it in 1 sitting. Obviously without the risk of PvP like imp city is.

Dragon shouts weren't a thing until Skyrim.

This is a world of magic the devs can do whatever they want so long as they come up with a backstory as to why.

Oh and speaking of dragon shouts, why not use something like that as the lore behind magical bards? Magic voices maybe aren't limited to dragons and dragonborn after all. Music itself can be magical.

They removed a large portion of content for a dungeon that 2% of the playerbase will actually play. That's wasted development time if this is what it actually is.

Pretty much this. Hide-able shoulder pieces too!
I'm actually more excited for those QoL features coming later in the year than I am for the new DLC\content\class :D
They also hinted at other QoL features too, curious to see what else we get!
