For solo players — main reason for joining 1 or more player guilds?

Just curious about other primarily solo players. I am not very social, so I don’t tend to interact much in my guilds. But I like the various conveniences guilds offer and I assuage my guilt over not socializing by making donations and/or buying raffle tickets. I do answer newbie questions or help out if asked to, though. Others?

I was a solo player in the beginning and joined a guild for the guild trader. Over time, I ended up becoming more social, running some content, and now even running that very first trader guild I had joined.

All of the above are good reasons to join a guild. I used to entirely be a solo player but I ended up in a social guild and haven't looked back.

The only guild I belong to is Beam Me Up. I'm not social, and I don't have any interest in guilds with traders, nor do I do group content (due to mega ping - not dumping that on anyone).

I do all of those in the guilds I am in. I am in 5.
2 of those are for social aspects.
4 are for guild trader (1 overlapping with the social aspects)
All of them are for trials/dungeons as the need or call out arises, but I still solo a ton of content.
I do only use the guild house in 1 of them though, it's done really well

When I just joined the game it was mainly for access to the guild hall with a dummy and some stations/stones, a nice plus was a guild trader which got me into trading pretty quickly. Maybe it was a trader access first actually. It was a fun guild to be in with occasional auctions and group activities, probably the friendliest place I've seen from all other guilds I've tried over the years apart from my raiding one (it was THE best one). This casual guild set me to eventually try more serious raiding and embrace pvp despite initial fear which made me stay in game for years.

Guild house > Guild trader > Free ports to members locations > rarely if ever do group stuff.

I answer questions/price checks in guild chat, take part in auctions and donate more than the minimum required for raffles, other than that I do what I feel like doing in game.

But by far a fully stocked guild house and access to a guild trader are the main reasons I stick around in a guild but the reason I am still in 3 instead of 1 is due to the members in each guild just being decent people and not toxic, helps when officers are active and actually enforcing the most basic rules in guild chat, instead of letting it be the wild west.

Mostly to have people to chat to while I'm playing. I mainly play solo because my free time is unpredictable and I don't want to start playing with a group then have to stop or leave part-way through, but I still like having people to talk to while I'm online.

Having people to occasionally do group stuff with when I have time is an added bonus.

99% of the time I am running solo, but two guilds in particular are important to my experience in this game:

-Trader guild. You cannot make enough money to get decent gear without selling crowns or having access to an exposed guild trader. When you have access to a guild trader, certain fun activities also become very gold dense.

-Content of interest guild. They know stuff about this game and it's classes/skills/sets that you won't find easily on the internet. I exclusively pvp, and the pvp guild I joined up with made me a better pvper by osmosis.

Trader mainly but one of my guilds has weekly "laid back" trials.
Being a total newb to trials I'll likely try them out.
    Don't really do much socializing bcuz most days I'm a card-carrying anti-social soloist B)

its generally always been for trading, lately though i have 1 guild i am in that is more focused on vet trials instead of trading

    i currently have 5 guilds:
    • 1 medium volume trader (that i have also started leading normal trial runs for because ive been in the guild a long time)
    • 2 medium-high volume traders (that dont require dues)
    • 1 vet trials/dungeons focused guild
    • 1 guild that used to be a trader that suffered a loss of activity and has moved to being more social only (might leave this guild at some point though)
    plays PC/NA
    handle @Necrotech_Master
    active player since april 2014

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (fully filled out with current game), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

in progress: acquiring mundus stones (currently only have the thief)

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

If I’m starting a new account, which I’ve done a couple times, I really like the free ports to members since I have slow mounts and little money in such cases.

For my old established accounts, I join for guild traders, although I prefer reasonably low weekly dues since I don’t tend to do much high cost or high volume trading. Having all the crafting sets available is also very useful for me since I craft a lot and do master writs. It’s so much easier to do those in one place than to travel all over the map.

I’m also in a housing guild, mostly to admire other people’s awesome creations than to do my own. I own lots of houses, but my plans for decorating them usually end up being pretty meh compared to the wonderful works of art that many housing enthusiasts create.

I only need to be in one guild for the guild house.

The more guilds I am in, the better it is for the free port to my destination zone. More active players means more likely someone else will be in that zone. Otherwise, I have to port to Bob and then use the wayshrine near Bob to go to the zone I really want to be in.

I don't care about guild traders. I did that for years. Now I don't.

I'm not really into trading but I like selling stuff here and there, so mainly that. I don't use a guild hall. I'm interested in housing and it's fun to check them out, tbough, and I occasionally take advantage of free ports. Sometimes I think about participating in casual guild activities for the social aspect but it just never seems to work very well with my schedule.

    All of the above
Add a Scribing skill that works like Arcanist beam.
    ---
Veteran players have been alienated and disengaged from Overland since One Tamriel, due to the lack of difficulty, and pushed into dungeons and trials; the minority of content in the Elder Scrolls Online. We can't take the repetition anymore, fix Overland engagement for Vet players. I don't even care if it's not combat related anymore, just make Overland engaging again.
    ---
Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 10 years. 6 paid expansions. 25 DLCs. 41 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. Make a self debuff mythic. Literally anything at this point.

I joined for the trader but also participate in the guild's monthly housing contests, the weekly lottery and attend initiation ceremonies if one is happening when I'm playing. So the social aspect is also fun for me.

For a truly solo player, it would only be for the guild trader or free ports. However, many of the people voting are likely not true solo players. Many players may be mostly solo but group some, so they are not pure solo players. Where the line is drawn will vary from one to another just as a casual player definition changes depending on who is making that definition.

I am not solo by choice.
When I moved to PC, I did join a guild for porting reasons, but they're fairly social - and while due to timezone differences I can't join any scheduled activities I do try to make an effort to at least say hello if nothing else.
Then I joined the apparently single guild for Oceanic players on PC/EU, and had fun in the 4 or so months it was very active. Then it slowly died. I think there are only a few active players left now.
I also joined a trading guild for... well, trading, and free ports.

Solo player since the pre-launch, have not joined a guild ever. Around 2043 Champion points, 18 max level characters, and every slot is legendary; self supplied mats. I have around 6.5 million gold only because I have no use for gold right now, otherwise I generate around a modest 700k a week on average without having access to guild traders to sell anything. Most items are either sold to vendor, deconstructed, or just destroyed.

I think there will be a lot of grey area, rather than a clear distinction between true solo players and everyone else.

I normally play solo, I don't join a group unless I have to (basically only dungeons and battlegrounds) and only do that occasionally. But it's not because I want to avoid people, it's because I can never tell how long I'll be able to stay online and I don't want to annoy people by having to leave a group in the middle of what we were doing. Also when I'm doing PvE I like to play slowly, deliberately going the wrong way in delves so I can see all of it before getting to the boss, reading notes and books (and I read slowly), stopping to look at the scenery etc. and I think it would annoy a lot of people if I was doing that while in a group.

But that doesn't mean I want to be completely anti-social while I'm online. I like being in a guild because it gives me a regular group of like-minded people to chat to, and because the guild channel is available everywhere we can keep the conversation going even when we're all doing our own thing in different places.

For me playing solo or with other people and being sociable is two seperate things.

That's quite something. How many hours do you play each week? I can't imagine coming even close to 100k a day without any guild sales (trade guild is my main income, with at least 250k a week, and I spend almost everything on housing).

Multiple reasons. I occasionally do group stuff, and I appreciate guild trader. I have a few friends in game and I enjoy "shitposting" (take that very lightly =) ) with them in guild or group chat.

    EDIT:
Free ports are an afterthought, I learned about them after I already was in guilds. But I couldn't live without them now.
