So I did use warden and equip all the animals skill to increase the critical damage with order of wrtach and all medium set and as khajiit and with fighting finesse and with two handled weapon which leade to 101% critical damage with 44% critical rating but the problem is I'm not making big damage as 20k right away but if I use sergeant sets I know I will so I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Weak base damage multiplied by 2.01 when you crit is likely still weak damage. Whereas hitting like a truck at base and getting it multiplied by 1.70 is likely to be really powerful. Much more powerful than doubling weak damage.

Imagine getting punched by Mike Tyson, then that punch being enhanced by "only" 70%. A 70% harder Mike Tyson is crazy powerful!

Now Imagine getting slapped by a wet piece of spaghetti, then having that be enhanced by 101%. A wet noodle hitting twice as hard is still a wet noodle.

tl;dr = Your attacks are not hitting hard enough before the crit multiplier. Sacrifice some crit damage for spell/weapon damage or max magicka/stamina, or armor penetration, or sets that give flat boosts to damage numbers, etc.

I understand thank you because I was trying to go to a bow warden or all critical damage warden but seem it didn't work like you say.

Not many people do 1 bar build also all people just recommend storm master with sergeant mails together but that is not good against pvp just pve and I'm looking for something strong for both sides.

If you try to make one build for both PVE and PVP, you will end up with a build that is lousy for both. Crit is king in PVE. In PVP, base damage and penetration are king. You need to build separately for PVP and PVE.

Generally I agree with Oreyn’s advice, but aren’t crit builds becoming more viable in some PVP builds/classes? NBs and ice wardens? Or no? I mostly do bgs so not sure if this is happening in Cyro.

My ice warden uses brittle and has a couple animal companions ability slotted, but honestly no I don't consciously spec into crit. I would think nbs, sorcs, and perhaps templars do though. It definitely isn't a dead stat for pvp-- you are right about that @Caribou77

I think unless you are building a bomber/ganker, crit chance just isnt all that relevant in cyro. Most players run enough impen that its wasted. Even with bomber/ganker builds, crit damage is a much more important stat than crit chance. My Ganker first and foremost gets to the crit damage cap, and then I favor weapon spell damage over crit chance where there is a reasonable tradeoff to be made.

    Certainly it is target dependent.

In PVE, for the most part, every enemy has the same level of armor, and they have no crit resist what so ever. So to maximize damage, you priotize getting to the crit damage cap, then you stack as much crit as you can, followed by weapon/spell damage. Penetration is an afterthought unless solo, because any decent group will get you very close to the pen cap. Groups are generally also better at providing weapon and spell damage than they are crit chance, so you want to prioritize the later on your own stats.

In PVP, every target is different, but its safe to assume people that know what they are doing are going to have Major resolve among other things to get their armor rating up, so you need penetration to get through their armor. Most also have enough crit resist to avoid getting one shot by a ganker, so spec'ing into crit chance just isnt all that useful. Now in events like MYM where the place is crawling with PVEers, things certainly change a bit.

You didn't say you needed a pvp build

I know this will sound strange to many here but I just stopped worrying about crit damage because of the maxed-out companion's damage. I admit I just do overland, delves, world bosses, and public dungeons.

So sergeant mails set is useless for pvp right

correct. The empower nerf with u35 destroyed HA builds (for the better imo, people were 1 hitting others from cliffs out of stealth)
