Font of Auri-El lead dropping as intended???

I know that in the past some leads haven't dropped at all. But also, you guys have fixed leads that had a lower drop rate than intended.

So I gotta ask, is this one dropping at a lower rate than intended? Because I have probably killed hundreds of Blood knights at Greymoor Keep, spending hours there during the double drop event, and have not gotten it from the Grey Host Blood knights nor the regular ones. I also saw a thread where someone killed 2000 of these things and didn't get it. You guys fixed the watcher lead iirc for being similarly off. Is this the way it's supposed to work. Do I need to kill 2000 knights?

Can you tell us if it's dropping from Blood knights at the intended rate. Are BK drops working as intended in general, I also got way less trash loot in general from them than is typical of a mob.

I can confirm it’s dropping, I got it twice last week and saw 2 others drop for people I was grouped with. The rate seems to be about what it was when I farmed my first lead when Greymoor released (pretty low).

I had to have killed hundreds of Blood Knights to get my three Font leads. Definitely agree that the drop rate for it is terribly low. Would love if it was higher, probably not Sacred Chalice levels of common, but still more common.

I know it's dropping but I'm wondering if it's dropping at the correct rate. They have had to correct leads that were dropping less often than intended before. So it's not that they were impossible, just unreasonably low. 2000 Blood knights is a lot. Reminds me of the watcher lead, which they fixed.

I think the Font has to lowest drop rate in game currently. Took a lot of kills to get it for me. I also think it drops from other Blackreach vampire enemies as well. Pretty sure mine dropped from a vamp bear or dog in the area.

i've got it long ago at the beginning of castle thorn from some mobs at the enter, on attempt for solo blind run. don't know if it still drops there...

I got one when chapter was released. Tried one more recently. Killed so many bloodknights... and nothing. I think ZOS reduced drop rate for this lead.

I’ve heard that it drops from other mobs but I’ve personally only seen it drop from bloodknights. I have an addon that shows leads dropping in the group and I see it drop often in kyne’s aegis and castle thorn (though considering the amount of players and the number of bloodknights in those instances I don’t think I’d say the rate was any higher than in blackreach).

Well, depends on what you consider "as intended"... This lead was quite rare from the beginning, even though it could drop from several sorts of enemies, not just the less common blood knights. I recall having gotten one from a death hound.

I'm wondering if you got it on release and if you didn't do it, that you are flagged as getting it for your first attempt (since they want people using furnishing vendors). Similar issues have been reported for others- there needs to be a lead reset button for a specified lead tbh.

I got it pretty easily when Greymoor first released and have never gotten it again. I have probably killed over 1000 blood knights and death hounds during the event, and did another around 250 today and still nothing. I don't know exact numbers because wasn't counting them, but I finished the
weekly endeavor mostly on them.

There is an addon called "RNG Hate Counter" that can keep track of the enemies you killed. I got it so I can see how bad the drop rates are on monster trophies.

Once from a mob in Kyne’s Aegis and once from a mob in Castle Thorn.

So you've pretty much confirmed my suspicions about obtaining leads soon after release- allowing them to expire- then trying to get them again leading to decreased drop rates on leads. The more you kill without getting a lead, the more likely this theory is to be true. I would open up a support ticket about this and tell them you got the lead early after release and allowed it to expire, and haven't been able to get it since. It sounds like you are falsely flagged as receiving or still having the lead- one would assume that ZOS wouldn't want to track this (since it is likely to bog down performance like achievements are said to), but old habits die hard.

I got the lead on console soon after release (within the first week or two). I believe I got a second, at some point, no idea when.
But now that I'm on PC... nope. I definitely haven't killed 2000 Bloodknights, but it sure feels that way.

I haven't had this lead for a long time, so I cannot confirm that is dropping now.

Last time I 'hunted' for this lead was when they made the antiquities furniture available from vendors providing that the codex entries were complete.

At that time the lead was dropping because I got the 3rd one I needed.

Said that I think the reason why is more likely to be obtained from blood knights is the fact that most blood knights leave a lootable corpse behind.

Master of the obvious moment, without a lootable corpse your chances of getting the lead are zero.

This is what made getting the leads for the Dwarven Scarab infuriating. A very small amount of 'eligible' mobs scattered around ludicrously large areas, where only 1 in 10 would leave a lootable corpse behind.

At one point I had the daily 'The Light of Arkthzand' 'stored' in al alt and I would fulfil the objectives, abandon the quest, retake it and do this over and over again just because while one has the quest active the wretched architons outside the library are significantly more likely to leave a lootable corpse behind.

Same thing with the Mora's lead from watchlings, although at least in this case they did do something about it.

Still, they do this very deliberately to provide entertainment. Are you not entertained?

That might be the case, cannot really tell for sure, however I was also convinced that this was the case [for me] with the lead for the Brazier of Frozen Flame.

Is one of the leads that retroactively expired when they patched in an expiration timer and took all the codex entries with it.

Despite the fact that they said they had fixed that the entries never came back for me. I had two braziers and zero entries on the codex.

Furthermore the wretched lead would not drop for me. I spent countless hours farming for it in various areas of Bleakrock Isle to no avail.

Thing is, the case of the fellow player who had his account - or at least a character on his account - utterly borked by CS and took months (and kicking up a stink in the forum) to get it resolved was still 'fresh' so I was really hesitant to raise a ticket about it. I still am. One is powerless to to enlist CS's help, they march at the beat of their own drum, and if they choose to actually help and bork things one is equally powerless to get them to 'unbork' it.

Either way eventually I got the three leads. Took forever and ever, but I did. The biggest issue was what I mentioned in my previous post, most mobs did not leave a lootable corpse, and without a lootable corpse the chance is zero.

I have long suspected that some leads with 3 codex entries only drop once. This thread suggests the Font is one of those.

I've had the font lead several times, its definitely not a once only item - I have one in my psijic villa and got the lead last week in Kynes Aegis. I've had it a few more times and let it expire because I dont chase codex entries and its too big for my tastes to have more than one!

I got my third drop 4 days ago (pc/na). I have farmed most of the leads in the game multiple times, and this was one of the grindiest by far. But they did eventually drop.

Over the past several updates, there have been a number of issues of extremely rare or non-existent drops for some leads. In reviewing these issues, we discovered an error in the global drop tables that resulted in rarer than intended drop rates for many leads. These changes should get the drop rates back to the intended rates.

Looks like I was correct and this is going to be fixed in Update 37.

Wish I had gotten a timely response so I had not wasted my entire event back then grinding out a lead who's drop rate was virtually non-existent, then I could have maybe pulled a purple vamp plan or two. Oh well.

I'm glad to read about that fix. There are several on that list that were making me feel like I was taking crazy pills.

I got them completed on my main just by sheer stubbornness but couldn't face doing the same on my alt.
