Arcanist is cool, but green seems wrong.

The biggest disappointment would be if the whole skill line is green. Just green.
I would at least expect the support and the tanking skill lines to have their own colours.
From what we have seen so far though, it seems the whole aesthetic will be vague green shapes, sitting arcanist next to nightblade, that solely uses vague red stuff.

They had to tie the class to the chapter for whatever nonsense reason. Warden uses all the wrong animal summons. Shalks are the biggest offender, and ugly.

I don't think I've heard the word "Arcanist" used before in TES so I'll roll with it for now, but it does feel a bit weird.

Specifically for Mora cultists, not yet. Generally, yes, although it seems only in ESO:

The word "arcane" itself was used before that. Think of the Arcane University, for example (let alone it's just a normal word).

The previous uses of the term are interesting though. The big one being the Necromancer's summoned "Skeletal Arcanist" which casts Deathbolt for area shock damage. Several types of "Arcanist" NPC's appear to be categorized as Storm Mages. There are also NPC Skeletal Arcanists and Pestilent Arcanists that cast "Ice Arrow," a single target frost spammable. There are Anka-Ra arcanists that use fire magic. All of these would make nice new abilities, so I hope there is some elemental stuff, not entirely focused on green tentacles.

It's also interesting that one of the advised Sorcerer builds is called "Elemental Arcanist". However all those builds are so outdated that we can't really learn much from it, except that arcanists may use elemental spells.

The realm the magic comes is tied too is very green. The Magic calls upon Mora's power, and thus should be green.

It's weird how people complain about something that makes totally sense lorewise, isn't it? It would be a design failure to create a Hermaeus Mora cultist using a different color scheme, actually. (If Mora cultist is a class many people wish for, is a different question; I personally have use for it, but it is strangely specific).

Arcane is a normal word. It derives from the Latin word "arcanum" which means secret. So an arcanist is someone who uses secret/forbidden knowledge. Sometimes colloquially extended to magic use per se. I don't think it has a different/deeper meaning in ESO.

My only problem with the neon green, is trying to design outfits that don't clash with it! Typically I try to design outfits that compliment the class skill color scheme... this one will be difficult to do that with. So many gear/costumes don't really take green colors that well, and metals seem to be the worst.

The neon green seems visually distracting, especially when it's geometric shapes rather than just a glow, or a chain of writing drawn from a book. Maybe tune it down a bit to a more shadowy green, similar to the Necromancer's sickly turquoise?

I am not a fan of the green and always associate that colour with poison rather than magick. I agree that blue, purple or even pink would have been more in keeping with how I think of the arcane arts.

Hermaeous tells me he tried pink bedsheets once, clashed with his skin and made him nauseous. He likes green it sooths his anxieties.

That's just the way it is.

The word "Arcanist" invokes the word "arcane" and arcane wizards/mages are often shown with blue/cyan colors with pink/magenta.

The green feels more like a color traditionally used for Necromancers.

The class looks fun, but I feel like it would be better received with more "mage like" colors vs "undead like" colors.

Well what you basically have here is an Archer who is proficient in canning foods, probably can also do pretty much the same with Alchemy and taking out the garbage.

Now we know that in many games Archers are kind of thought of as like rangers or you know the type of folks who are both knowledgeable and comfortable with living in a forest. There are also many varieties of food that are green, both in color and taste. And then there's garbage which some of that is biodegradable and earth friendly.

No I think green works just fine for this class.

Please don't ruin this, the devs often listen to bad feedback. Green has been traditionally linked to Herma's realm, also where exactly do 'arcane' mages get their blue/purple color, WoW? Lol

I actually like the lil green doritos. But yeah, more colour variation between the three skill lines would be nice.
Maybe like orange for the heal focused spells and blue for the defence ones or something.
Keep dps skills green, along with the portal ability, as it is like a signature skill of the class.

IMO it looks WAY better than sprouting bones or magma rocks out of one’s back! Cloaking oneself with a rune or magical shield is much more what I like to see! :)

If you look around in Tamriel in recent years and see all the heroes in brightly colored armor riding glowing glitter horses, you'd think neon-green glowing pyramids would find a lot of fans. ;)

And that's the issue I have with that hue of green. "vivid and full of life" isn't exactly the thing I'd associate with "Cosmic Horror" A tainted green with black blotches floating over it, similar to the tentacles in the gif would break the regular shapes. right now the pyramids (that I guess are the energy thingies you build and consume) look like buffs you pick up in an arcade shooter.

You're right that it's not a sickly green. It's a vivid, powerful green that carries the potency of all the accumulated knowledge of the ages.

All right, to be fair, I don't know how tainted or corrupted it's supposed to look, but I love it all the same.

I admit I didn't like this hue of green at first, but the more I began to consider it and look at the skills and promo art, the more I began to like it.

It's a venomous green that speaks to me of a character deriving it's power from ancient, dangerous powers. The occasional splashes of oil slick black and tentacles are delightful. It reminds me of poisonous reptiles and ocean dwelling creatures, all wrapped up in the geometry of ancient runic symbolism, and I love it.
