Is there any reason Chromium Plating prices won't continue to rise over the next 6 months?

Chromium Plating prices have risen nearly 50% in the past 4 weeks.

Is there any reason prices won't continue to rise over the next 6 months? Will we see 1 million gold Chromium Plating soon?

I agree chromium plating is stupid expensive, but on the flip side, have you looked closely at the stat difference between purple and gold jewelry? It's not very significant at all. I also like to have my jewelry golded out for sets I use regularly, but really it's not needed other than we all like to be as shiny as possible.

Given that getting a single plating requires you to get X10 the mats is it so surprizing that it's X10 the price?

No, it's not surprising that there are scalpers who purchase the mats just to flip them at higher prices.

The only way for prices to stablize is for the mats to be purchased in game through an NPC vendor. Let's say the devs do, and it's fixed at 500k each, this would lower prices and keep them low. But the people who will actively say "No!" to this are the ones explicitly scalping just to be some jerk-merchant RP. lol

"But mercantilism is a valid aspect of RP!" Yes, but when something is too rare, the prices get out of control.

Pro tip: Build up AP for purchasing Gold-Jewelry (overland sets) during Midyear at Golden Vendor in Cyrodiil. Also, check each weekend at golden vendor to pay a fixed price for dungeon sets. This solves 95% of chromium plating sourcing issues.

    Stick it to the scalpers.~

You know you can do the same thing the people selling them are doing to get them in the first place, without having to pay any where near those prices.

Do max level daily jewelry writs on as many characters as you can to have a chance of getting the grains or the low chance of entire platings.

Harvest jewelry mats from the surveys and jewelry mat nodes in overland refine them with all the passives from the jewelry crafting skill line and the CP slotable for a chance at grains.

You can turn around and say that takes too long but that is where the plating's on the market are coming from, there's no magic tree that drops them in abundance for the sellers. You either get them yourself or if your in a rush blow your gold on them.

End of the day the stat boost from purple to gold is bugger all, you have plenty of time to get your own plating's if your not in a rush.

But that's just the thing. When you say things like 'stat difference' well relative to what?

If you're trying to improve things like move speed, min/maxing vital attributes with Triage, bloodthirsty and so forth well you want to get the most you can out of all that in concert with your Mundus Ability.

    It matters.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

I’m glad that these items continue to be in demand — housing and fashion are expensive!
I’m only surprised that the price has jumped up so much so far ahead of even the announcement, much less an update!

This reminds me I should really hold onto my gold mats for when the new class drops. I'm on console so our prices aren't nearly this high but I do expect gold mats to go up a bit in price during a new class drop.

i get most of my platings over time from deconing gold trial jewelry (most perfected trial jewelry can be recreated AT gold, so i just decon it to get the mats out)

Farm in elswyer during the event and refine it after the event ends. Don't do it during the event, the drop rate for gold mats is decreased during the events when they have 2x node drops. Your welcome 😁

The stat difference between infused purple and gold rings is actually significant. For some reason it’s more severe of a drop than bloodthirsty arcane etc. then there’s the set bonuses to consider. Purple jewelry lowers the stats on 2,3, and 4 pieces bonuses too (unless they changed that).

Can you source this claim? I've never once heard that the drop rate for any mats is lowered during any event for any reason. Keep in mind there's a rule against spreading rumors or misinformation on the forums these days.

Unless this is just a joke.

Maybe the rate of deconstructed chrome flake has dropped. After running a vet trial over and over I kept collecting gold jewelry, and noticing when deconstructing the gold jewelry that it seems like less than 50% chance of getting the flake

The prices are ridiculous. Having an NPC vendor for gold mats (and not just for platings) would bring that down.

I'm so glad perfected gold jewels cost no mats to reconstruct.

"No, it's not surprising that there are scalpers who purchase the mats just to flip them at higher prices."

It isn't scalpers. It is supply and demand. Supply is low. If there were plenty to be had the prices would come down. With over 200 vendors in game it would be extremely hard if not impossible for flippers to control prices for any significant amount of time even on rare items.

No they're not. Chromium platings are on average between 200 and 250k each on PC EU currently (I double checked as I sell around 3 each week that I get from crafting and surveys and knew they weren't that price last week lol).

I still don't know why we still have the jewellery upgrade system we do.

It needs to just go to 8 upgrade mats like everything else now.

The 10 to 1 thing is just stupid.

After coming from a game a year ago where pricing was junk and EVERYTHING except the most basic gatherable resources were in the gutter, I LOVE things having costs and encouraging me to game in a way that makes me money. I do my surveys, I farm, I do writs on all my characters, I do a lil dance every time I get a chromium grain. Thanks the Daedric Princes that loot/resource *** still have a place in this game.

I think it went up due to multiple reasons, but two reasons at play right now are the new class being released and ESO+ being free right now and people maybe wanting to put some stuff in their craft bag.

I guess there are a lot more players willing to pay high prices on PCNA than on the other servers.
On PCEU noone would pay 2 million for a 4 stack.

I am getting more and more the feeling it is a customer sided problem and not inflation. 😅

It isn't scalping to buy a product and sell it at what the market will bear. That is a modern foolishness that too many put forth.

ZOS could fix some of this by upping the drop rate, but it has been an issue for a LONG TIME and they have not done so, indicating high prices are not a huge concerns. Even the JC writ revamp quite a while ago now still didn't do enough to make those valuable, let alone address the concerns about the drop rate of high end JC mats.

It may be true that purple to gold doesn't add much, but it is "nice" to have all gold gear, if you can. Why should the drop rates be and remain so low?

Gold plating is 85k on ps5eu was over 100k like 2-3 months ago.

Having a NPC that sells Gold Plates would be weird, should we console players have to buy them for 500k or PC players buy them for 100k at the NPC?

Up the drop rate and maybe more sources added where they can drop from.

On NA, there are also some available for that price.... but this is what it says when you price check. Most people I know are going to follow the average and suggested price; so yeah, I wonder how long people will continue to sell them for 200-250k. There are already fewer listings of them in that price range than the 400-500k ones.

That can also be the result if people buy at 250k but leave the 500k ones sit there.
Mat prices are through the roof atm because of free ESO+ (people refilling in their craft bags) and the chapter/DLC announcements. It doesn't mean these prices are going to stay.
Though fewer people are doing vet trials these days after U35/36, so the supply of chromium has definitely taken a hit.

P.S. Don't complain about prices. Do veteran trials! ;D

I've often said we should have vendors selling everything except gold for roughly the same price they do the style pieces. I know this would hurt some people selling in the market but to be fair no one person is competing with the rampant bot farmer's on Xbox anyway and recipes/furniture plans/rare drops tend to do better. It WOULD kill the bot farmer's need to be there. Ironically while many like the idea there's always a few that are almost hostile in opposition to the idea lol. I don't SEE as many bots on pcna and have no idea how bad they've gotten on ps or eu, but Xbox na they've gotten nasty.

Luckily it hasn't gone that bonkers on PC EU (yet), in fact if anything the price has dropped in the last 9 months or so. I was selling at just over 300K each back then.
