With two new character slots coming and a new class, a lot of us will have to train for the ability to move faster. Do you like how mount training works in eso?

I would gladly use gold to max that just like how the pack merchant is, i just deal with the routine of mount maintenance at this stage.

I wouldn't mind it as much if we could raise each of the 3 attributes every day, then it would only take 2 months to max instead of 6 months.

I'd rather be able to pay it all off at once with in game gold. The once a day crap is just tiresome. I'm not buying Crown Store items for it.

This would have gone a long way to making the AWA acceptable, which it is most definitely not. As such it destroyed my game.

No and it is damn insulting to the player.
you often feel you don't ever even want to play with a new character in the overworld as it is such a painful chore to traverse.

There was never any sort of training for horses, you got one and rode it, that's it.
With overall achievements being shared across characters, horse training should have too.
There is no reason other than an inconvenience to the player to limit training like that.

Irony here is they reveal a new class, 2 free character spaces that some or most of us will use, be we get gimped with a weak, slow horse.

I agree. The system is outdated and unnecessarily grindy.

Mount training is half the reason I hate making new characters.

it is the reason i only have 10 characters atm too.
I actually want to have my main then 1 healer and 1 stam, 1 mag of every class but I still have 4 toons that are not max horse training yet.
I normally make a set of 2 at a time, and the last 2 I made was when necro dropped, 2 necros.
Admittedly I stopped playing for years, but I have 2 toons with less than 30 days left training, 2 with like 45 days left training. I won't make another char until they are all maxxed with horses. I don't even play these chars too because of their crap horse.
I mean I got them from zero to 50, but I never actually really played with them. last 2 are still wearing level 44 training gear!

The only reason they have it as it is, is to sell speed, stamina and weight in the crownstore, I can easily imagine it being one of their best selling items on there. Can't imagine them wanting to give up on that cash cow

It is the most obvious money grab in any MMO. It is shameful that my sprinting speed is faster than my horse for weeks! Changing that one mechanism might be the biggest gesture in good faith zos could do for their community to be honest.

If you were here at the beginning, it was per mount. Some mounts you purchased even started with like +10 Stamina at a higher cost. I didn't bother buying any other mount at the time, used the free 1 gold white Imperial Horse on all my characters before they switched to character wide.

It’s unengaging and grindy and I believe only exists to sell the level ups. I often create a character before I intend to really play them and at least get their mount speed to 30, but sometimes I like exploring on foot too, especially a new zone, and I’m looking forward to this one.

I wanted to level it up like the way we level up our crap bag, level up by 10 every step at higher price per step, without cooldown timer.

It’s in desperate need of an overhaul. I get the value of having a gold sink, but the once a day training feels like a relic from the subscription days left in only to push me to the crown store. Let me upgrade it all at once like the other upgrades.

    That would be awesome.

@ZOS_Kevin Will you please pass this suggestion along to be considered for one of the quality of life changes?

Time-gating mount training is one of the big complaints I've heard from new players.

Getting a really slow mount and then realizing you need to grind for months per character up is a big NOPE that drove away some of my friends who tried the game.

Honestly, if it were not as hard to level a mount, starting a new character would not be as painful. Additionally, it is the same horses so, why wouldn't the training carry over? I guess part of it is rider training, not horse training, but still.

    I´m sure ZOS likes it.
If I had to guess its one of the most popular items in the Crownstore.

I think the base speed of horses could be a little faster. Common feedback from friends I've introduced to the game is that they felt the mount (without any training) didn't feel that much better than just running on foot.

In terms of training, someone who has 16 toons. It's a bit annoying. That said I don't think it's going to change (as in making it account wide) as much as I want it to. I suspect it's part of the common video game retention strategy of "dailies" as a way of making players logon regularly to reinforce a habit and at this stage the gaming industry just feels like it's too entrenched with using these kind of strategies so I don't have any hope that this will change for ESO.

Yes, as I am not in a hurry. Nor should anyone else be, as this results in day 1: "I'm done with the new content already, this sucks. There is nothing to do."

Also, I prepare for the future! Have kept all the mount trainings from daily rewards in the bank, and kept all those from crates as well, as they only give 1 gem each. Not worth it to exchange them. My 19th character will have max mount training right away, the 20th will be at 25% of total right away.

Have also prepared for the new companions, as the previous ticket event gave many tickets for players to catch up. So I have 4 of each companion guild rank to increase right away. And I kept all the usefull purple companion items.

This is a longterm game, people should enjoy the journey more. There is no rush to get everything right away, this isn't a job. Stop treating it like it is. (Note: Add-ons cause this mindset, as they optimize everything for the player, and these players will feel bad when something isn't going to the be at maximum.)

It is what it is. It will not change. That is guaranteed since we have instant training in the cash shop. I have saved the free ones I have been given, which will help.

A possible compromise, ZOS retains a revenue stream and we get fast mounts soon, sort of.
What if every time I train my mount its speed maxes (60) for say 60(or 30) min.
So this way, there's always an incentive to train but an immediate reward for doing so.
Does this make any sense, am just winging it here.

    No.

Mount training originally was ludicrous, then someone somewhere realised that they weren't selling us any 'premium' mounts with the system as it was.

So they replaced it with a system that not only allowed for the sale of 'premium' mounts but also enabled the publisher to sell us the solution to the inconvenience it presented (thus making the player's disposable income the pivotal element of their relationship with this system).

Hopefully a long hard look at this will be part of the QoL changes in Q4.

I fully agree to this statement. However, there is no joy for me in crawling around like a snail and hardly being able to carry my loot.

Mount training in its current form is just tedious and annoying.

Edit: the introduction of a new class literally asks for a change. Either make it PTW like the pack merchant upgrades or include it right away in AWA.

When you do the alliance starting quest you already can put a skill point in the passive 30% mount speed buff + the Mundus stone the Steed, with this buffs your speed is at least faster then walking.
