There have been houses, that have been on a boat. One of the huge properties that was on sale last year comes to mind. Had the huuuuge land with stone ruins nestled in a mountain, by a waterfall, and there was also a ship all to yourself to live on if you wanted to.

Colossal Aldmeri Grotto barely counts as a boat home as its more of a cave with boats in it. It'd just be nice to have a boat docked in a city with a couple of nice sized rooms/access to the lower decks and purchasable with gold. No need or reason to spend 15k crowns on a giant cave with a couple of ships that you can fully decorate the ships or the cave but not both. They could make it like 250k gold with like 500 slots (250 without plus).

I would love a small-medium sized boat house. Aldmeri Grotto is wayyyy too big, and also, I'd just like something simple and the Grotto has a lot going on last time I checked it

Ah yes, because that doesn't consume already precious itemslots and will never look as good as one of many already exisiting ship models in game.

Just a nice simple ship on the sea, or anchored near a harbour would be nice.

That doesn't solve the issue. Its also probably more expensive to build your own and then furnish it, than it would be to furnish an already made one. Plus not everyone has the creativity or time to build one. There's no reason we can't just have a house boat docked at some city's pier/dock.

It's fine for some people, but why does that have to be the only option, in a game filled with options?

Never said it had to be the only option, nor am I against the idea. But building one is an option.

More so if you could select home city for it, obviously only cities there you can sail large ships.

I don't want to be rude and insult your house building, but that's not on the sea, uses a lot of slots, and is not at the level of one of the many models of ship models we have in game.

I also didn't say you can't make a ship in housing, just that the actual ship models will be better and again, doesn't use slots.

It doesn't have to be, but the people asking for a boat house don't want it on land. That's like putting a ship in dry dock.

This is my favorite ship design, from Hew's Bane:

No offense to the Housing enthusiasts and their delightful creations, but those are 100% out of my reach as an extremely casual decorator nor do they actually fit what I want from a house.

A medium to large ship on the ocean (that isn't a gigantic ruin + wreckage) where I can spend most of my limited slots decorating the interior would be ideal.

Unfortunately, we'll probably never get something like that. Not because we can make our own ships (some of you can, but you might as well ask me to become Emperor of Cyrodiil), but because ZOS is very happy to sell their extremely large, extremely expensive Colossal Aldermi Grotto crown-store exclusive manor to players who really, really want a ship house badly enough to pay for it.

High Isle would have been an excellent opportunity for this too. I wouldn’t personally use it but I think a medium size house made up of a few rooms on a galleon would be a nice addition to the housing options.

I’d love a boat as well. Nice and blank so it can be decorated with any (or multiple) racial motif, or since it can use boats that already exist can sell one for each motif. I’d really find use in a Maormer boat!

I have built a boat, it's a decent workaround for now, since we didn't have one in-game. But I would still greatly enjoy a house that was actually a ship tied to a dock, or out at sea (maybe we could magic our way inside of it like the Enchanted Snow Globe to avoid the swimming problem). If the boat was really all there was to the house, we wouldn't need to use slots decorating or closing off other areas. And it would likely be a nicer boat than the one I made. Don't get me wrong, I like my boat. I'm proud of of it. It's not the best boat, but it doesn't look bad at all. I don't know too much about ship building but I think I did okay. But, I do like the ones that the game has naturally a better.

Ooooh that'd be so cool. Maybe we just own the room on the boat, but it still is manned by a crew and travels around the ports, and we'd see the crew on the docks doing things like unloading crates or cleaning the deck.

High Isle was an excellent opportunity for Zenimax to do a lot of things yet they passed them all up for a card game hahahahaaaa

My girl and i built it. The picture is from the WIP, it was our attempt to make an event house for Halloween '22.

If you want to visit it you can, just jump to @bilqis on PC EU. There's also a story to be told, if you use EHT you can find hand written lore books in english and german all over the place.

The ship is far from perfect but it's all hand made and for the us still being amateurs in Housing we're pretty happy with it. We also made some Easter and Christmas event houses for those interested: PC EU @bilqis and @kisakee.

BTT: I'd also love a boat house, but i'd want it to go even further: Ship fights! Give me a ship, let me decorate it and sail over the seas to fight giant sea monsters and other players!

I built a boat, for my "Sky Pirates" house but it could just as easily been on water at one of the houses which have a coastline.

It's by no means perfect but it has a captains cabin, a kitchen, crew sleeping area and cannons.... a lot of cannons!

There are also several decorated rooms in the land based portion of the house, I actually ended up reasonably happy at the end of the build which is rare for me.

So it can be done but prepare for a lot of Heartwood use!
