I think Burst damage needs a buff.

I think for example that two handed skills are just weaker than what they should be and that dot abilities are out performing burst by a huge margin. It just sucks that 1 bar builds only really seem to work with strong dots like dragonknights fire abilities for example.

Okay, that’s part of your problem. Burst is generally made of multiple attacks happening simultaneously.

Nightblade is one of the only classes in the game that does not have a timed high-damage ability that you can have explode at the same time as your spammable. How the class compensates, is it has a higher damage ultimate in Incapacitating Strikes, and some of the best burst in the game with the hardest hitting ability out there, Merciless Resolve’s Spectral Bow proc after 5 light attacks, this ability is actually over-performing right now.

It’s a shame you have to stick to class abilities to get that burst, but it’s definitely there for Nightblade.

If you were on a Templar or non-Harmony Necromancer, that would be a different story as they are currently struggling within their classes, trying to find burst.

    Favorite Foods and Potions

    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

Okay, that’s part of your problem. Burst is generally made of multiple attacks happening simultaneously.

If you were on a Templar or non-Harmony Necromancer, that would be a different story as they are currently struggling within their classes, trying to find burst.

i just like two handed sword and i just feel weapon skill lines are too weak vs class skills.

i mean its like when they nerfed two hander back in the day it was nerfed too hard.

why should they be weaker, where is the point of using class skills at all if all other skill lines would be better?

Well, Dizzying Swing is significantly better than most spammables in the game, especially for burst damage; it hits harder at base than Death Scythe, Flame Skull, Puncturing Strikes, Dark Flare, Dive, Crystal Shard, Veiled Strike, Strife, Flurry, Snipe, Force Shock, Imbue Weapon, Lava Whip and Eviscerate… of course there are scenarios where other spammables could shine brighter, but as far as raw damage, consistently, you can’t beat it.

Onslaught is broken on direct damage builds stacking into damage instead of pen, the burst gets pretty wild if you can line up your Medium Attack on an Off-Balance target as a means to guarantee Onslaught can’t be prevented and when that crits, trust me… you will know.

This is a choice but limiting oneself to such a narrow set of skills is the first issue. Others have brought up good points.

A one bar NB build that doesnt use any class skills is not exactly something I think we should be balancing the game around. Play how you want, but if you intentionally gimp yourself by excluding class skills, its not reasonable to expect it to perform the way you want.

I also am not sure you really mean burst, you seem to want a harder hitting spammable. Spammables are fairly balanced for the most part. There are a few outliers (underpowered skills), but since really every class has access to multiple spammables, I dont see it as a pressing issue. Ultimately, its sounds like you are asking for a buff to a one bar build that you spam one key over and over. Hard pass from me.

Burst implies multiple things firing at once, its mostly a PVP term. It requires some sort of delayed skill. Like a Warden that hits you with sub assault and a dawnbreaker or a sorc that gets his curse and frag to hit at the same time so it triggers your execute proc. There is nothing inherently bursty about the 2h line in isolation, but that is really true for all weapon lines in isolation (maybe some sort of snipe build would qualify).

I agree. Who needs a dot that lasts 20+ seconds? Go back to what it was before they made those ill-advised changes. A 20 second dot is useless in pvp, totally useless. In pve it's not much more useful.

I liked their idea of making timers consistent, but then they backed that out and just left us with the DoT nerf. Very annoying.
