Why not blankets.

Just a thought...

If it's difficult to set things up so we can lay down on beds, why not add interactable blankets? This way we could place a blanket on a bed, or anything we may have fashioned into a bed. Then, we would be able to click on it to lay down and sleep. After doing so, our character would animate in such a way as to crawl under the blanket.

Maybe you could also add interactable cushions as well? Placing these just about anywhere, even nestled inside a surface, making it invisible, but still interactable. Maybe letting us choose different ways to posture our sitting, like Indian Style, should the cushion be on the floor.

For maximum immersion, our characters remaining in their sleeping or sitting state even when loging out and logging back in.

Bonus: Companions are given the same functionality in this respect. :relaxed:

I will add some thoughts into this that have been in my mind. Homestead 2.0! Yes, an update to the houses in ESO.

    I ALWAYS think of:

    1. Sleeping function: gives elightenment bonus (more than the 400k daily). Better beds, more bonus (sleeping in inns would be the bottom line).
    2. Outfit mannequin to dispose at home: you could fit any combination you want to display "that armour that you used during x epic battle".
    3. Gardening (and possibly mining?): plant and harvest crops! Some seeds will be cheaper, other will be more expensive; some will take less time to grow, some more.
    4. Displaying alts at home: why not? You house could be the hub of your account!
    5. Take the opportunity to add companion marriage!

I immediately remembered the "emotion" of sitting on a throne. It's funny if ZOS implements your idea in a style where you can "summon" a bed in any location and go to sleep, for example on the battlefields, hehe. However, for example, "emotion" - sitting on a pillow will look good.

Many canopy beds don't even allow the player to move onto them. The Vvardenfell beds come to mind, but there are others. What is the point of a bed if you can't even use sleep emotes on them?

Why not simply play the Sims at this point? Even Fallout 76 who has camp companions who actually walk around the camp living their own lives and using your crafting station doesn't have intractable sheets when you sleep in your bed. I'm not sure how much technical effort and programming this would require but I'm 100% sure that money and manpower can be better used to solve one of the many documented short comings, desired QOL features, and bugs reported ESO since 2014 instead.

Sleeping, i guess, though honestly i don't see the purpose beyond RP.

Mannequins (and weapon racks the like) i would definitely say yes to. This has been requested for years.

Gardening could be OK, but would have to have a lot of balance or it makes the over-world dead without people out gathering.

Alts i cant see happening, they don't seem to be able to keep out companions gear when we place them in the house, having to save and load thousands of alts with all their gear/polymorphs/tattoos/etc. just seems to big.

Marriage is all RP, so if you want that you could just "pretend". SWTOR had a "family tree" feature where you could link your characters and how they were related, but it never went anywhere, it was just a list of your characters with lines to each other.

More interaction with world objects/furniture could be fun (pray at alter, drink from fountain), but comparing that stuff to new zones, delves, creatures, etc. I'd prefer the latter.

I think it would be nice to actually be able to use furniture the way it's normally intended. So, lying down on beds and sitting on chairs seems reasonable to me. I don't think we neccessarily need an extra bedsheet and blanket system though...

I think the number of garden plants would probably be very limited, so it won't be enough to avoid harvesting in the wild completely. It might still be helpful because you could choose what to plant, so you will have a guarantee to get the alchemy ingredients you want, while outside, it's always random.
Marriage is all RP, so if you want that you could just "pretend".

Well, then we could pretend just all kinds of things and wouldn't need to play any quest anymore ;) I think people want "romantic" dialogue and I see that having fully written conversations like that in game makes a difference to just imagining a relationship to a character.

Different tasks. Landscape and delve building won't suffer because someone else at ZOS makes an animation for using a bed or a fountain.

Agree here. If they had interactive beds, (similar to chairs) where you can 'click to sleep' and it just lies you down in a sleeping position, eyes closed. Done. Would not be a huge deal for them, however, it would mean a lot to some gamers i think.

Where most canopy beds are very lovely, you cant even get on them to lie on them. It's a horrible thing, and stopped me from getting any. (So i just made my own that you can get on simply.)

That all being said, there are still chairs in the world you cannot click to sit on... It's frustrating as heck as an RPer.

Same here. I normally use a few iron poles and tapestries or curtains to make my own. Smaller wood columns may also work. But I think it's a pity because especially the Vvardenfell canopy beds look awesome.

Yes. There are even some chairs you can craft that can't be sit on. They're normally in the "workshop" category, although I think that's not completely reliable too. I think I made a stool from that category once that was usable.

I would definitely be happy just with the ability to click on our current beds, lay down and sleep, and would love to be granted a bonus for doing so. This is common in other games with housing, so I'm uncertain why it has not been added to ESO. So, I figure, if there is a technical issue developers are having adding this functionality to the beds currently in circulation, why not add it with blankets? Blankets would be extra useful for all the cobbled beds and sofas as well. I would even settle for just sleeping on top of the blankets, without the immersion of crawling under them.

All I really want is to lay myself, my companions and houseguests down to sleep before logging out.

It's just an immersion thing, not an RP or ERP thing, at least not for me. In my house, we all have separate bedrooms. I mean, for now at least. Add a romanceable Darien and who's to say what the future holds o:)

If we get usable beds, in the end it would probably look more chaste than it does now (oh, the awkwardness of trying to sit down next to each other but choosing the wrong sit animation or using it while the player character is facing the wrong direction :D )...

    Blankets are fine

24 different blanket patterns for Dark Elves, 9 of which are crown-only, and 2 of which are crown gems/endeavors-only, however, would not be.

ok, take the sitting, change it to laying down... imagine THAT awkwardness... you have to figure out the magic code just to manage the right direction to stand before even attempting to lie down lol

Whether sitting or lying down, or one player sits and the other lies relaxedly on his side... It always gets awkward (unless you want to sit really apart, which also looks weird if you're having a conversation). It basically always ends up like this:

    *jumps on bed*
*tries to rotate into the right direction without falling from the bed and without stepping on the other character already sitting or lying there*
*sits down and accidentially hits other character's crotch with knee*
    Oh, I'm sorry!
*stands upright on the bed again*
*rotates and tries different sit animation*
*sits down and accidentially slaps feet into other character's face*
    Sorry!
*stands upright on the bed again*
    ...

Of course this applies to other places and situations too, like trying to sit on a carpet on the floor or just somewhere on the beach. I know this can't be fixed, but at least lying on the bed could be made much easier if there was a function to use them like chairs.

More interactable furnishings to enable lying down on a bed, etc. would be great, but I would hate for bonuses for sleeping or any other such bonus that would be a headache to align correctly before trials/pvp/whatever challenging content one wishes to engage in with a group, and would give people a reason to resent housing as a system.

On FFXIV its so cute when you have a miqote and log out by going to bed and they jump up on the bed like a cat and curl up. I can just picture how cute a khajiit would look doing that. I swear that game is the bar when it comes to most mmos. But yeah more interactable furniture would be great.
