spell crafting is something asked for like 5-6 years now

Additionally, the current Champion Point system does not have enough diversity or specialization to bridge that gap to 'play as you want' either.

Early on in ESO spell crafting was talked about by the devs. But around year 3 or 4, the devs admitted that they couldn't do spell craft without it ending up completely broken. And they never solved the problems that would lead to everyone having the same broken build.
Mostly agree with you with spell crafting, it would not be like Morrowind or Oblivion, I assumes it would be more like enchanting or alchemy. It would be useful, if nothing else it would fill out gaps for classes.fleetingyouth_ESO wrote: »I don't understand the desire for spell crafting other than as a roleplay option. If you look at how it was going to be designed and implemented it was basically the antiquities system and mythic items.
You search for components to combine and craft a "thing" that gives limited but slightly more powerful effects. Once you have it you are done and go on to find/make a new one. That is exactly what a mythic item is.
After about a week everyone will be running the same 5 spells because that's how meta works. You are not going to get endless combinations that provide creative diversity because they could never balance for that. So it would either be watered down and not useful or designed to be just as powerful as a mythic with similar limitations. Plus the same little mini game to grind out.
Is that really what people are so excited about and want? Or am I missing something? You can go online and see what spell crafting was going to look like and they clearly used parts of it for antiquities and mythics.
I'm not trying to put down what people want but it just seems from an MMO game experience where you are playing with other people and things have to be constantly balanced spell crafting wont be more than what we already have. If all the interest is from a single-player perspective or play how you want it will just be watered down and not any more fun than the mythic system.
