Simply put: more unused skillpoints you have the higher your damage.

One of the things i've noticed is a lack of interest in getting skill points past just filling out the needed skills. I've also noticed that ZOS is trying to encourage players to do more content. What if you make it so that you get a bonus to weapon and spell damage for the amount of unused skill points. Say: skill points x3 or x5 I have 20 unused skill points atm on one character that would be 60 or 100 wep/spell damage boost. Not a huge increase no but one worth getting for endgamers who are going for the maximum possible damage. As a story arc this can be simple: The skyshards 'empower' the player with energy or something making them more powerful.

This will encourage players to go out and get those skill points from skyshards, from story quests, group content, new dungeons... etc. As i see it, this is a win/win for ZOS as it could encourage more players to play base game content and such.

@ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_Bill <-- these pop up when i start @zos. Hopefully it reaches the zos staff for review.

Nah, this would just promote more p2w with skyshard purchase in crown store.

    PC EU
    PvP only

I'm confused. You say it would be useful for endgame players and encourage more players to play base game content, but endgame players complain that base game content is trivial to them already so how would it encourage them to do more of that content, while the low level players for whom that content is designed will want to use their skill points so won't benefit from this either. I can't see who would, to be honest. Sorry.

Do buying skyshards remove them from the game world ? if so what is the difference? ZOS gains money for a resource players can get for free with only a little effort. Much of the skill points though come from story arcs and that i dont believe can be bought in crown store. If crown buys get the skyshards to fill out thier skills then then those skill points are not being used for the wep/spell damage buff. Any left over skill points from crown buy is negligible and so not worth fighting over.

Do crown buys fill out PVP skill points? i dont think so but i dont know, that would indeed be a 'exploit' of this buff, but easy enough to prevent.

Endgame players, in my understanding, only go through the storyline arcs in one or two toons, unless they need the extra skill points for skills. Having this will give those endgamers a reason to do the storyline arcs to get those skill points, that they would not normally have reason get before. This may also encourage players to do more PVP in cyrodil as you get skill points from leveling your rank there.

I believe ZOS is already working on making base game more palatable for endgamers in some fashion, whether it is vet base game story lines, vet level zone gear, or new things like spell crafting.

In a way, this is what the champion system should be doing. Long term progression with tiny stat increases to reward players. The nice thing here is that CP is shared between characters. Unfortunately it completely fails since they decided it should be "horizontal progression", and there's no reward after around 1500 CP.

I'm not opposed to getting something to use extra skill points on, but having to grind through them on every DPS could get annoying.

which is why its a small bonus. They greater the effort you put in the more rewarding it should be.

    Calculating:

doing all PVE content including Dungeons and pub dungeon and NO storyline/pvp you get 304 skill points. Roughly 60 skill points go unused from this batch if you have a fully realized build with crafting points upgraded. thats 60x3 = 180 extra weapon and spell power. That isn't much. however if you do all the storyline arcs that is another 138 skill points so x3 thats 414 extra wep/spell dmg. add to 180 and you get 594. This is neither too low nor obscenely high bonus damage. This makes doing the story arcs more profitable for those who wish to get just that little bit more damage. If you add in the PVP you get 65 more skill points and 195 more wep/spell dmg making your maximum bonus damage possible at 789. This is a nice number to achieve and a long road to achieve it.
