Next companion?

Consider adding a Imperial companion please, when ı say Imperial: it must be both race Imperial and former legionierre member, please but please do this, Imperials are the less focused thing in this game and we deserve some attention too,

Like he/she was defending the Imperial city tower during the deadra invasion, as time passes he have no where to go since his home destroyed and his friends defeated during the defense of the city so he staying on Cyrodiil alone, however when the three banner war started he went to city to city to stay safe and he/she found the player near the old emperors dungeon cave, wants to stick around and wants to be loyal friends because he/she basically lost everything and wants to stay alive with a friend,

It could be, but 1 of the 2 (assuming at least 2) new companions will be the race that the chapter is focused on. the other could maybe be Imperial, but most likely won't be. For most people Imperials just aren't interesting. I don't care what race it is, but just hope they are both as interesting as Ember. I personally hate the companion system, but at least Ember doesnt make me want to rage quit over terrible dialogue.

    at least that's my hope.

The only one that would interest me is a charismatic shadowscale, similar to Veezara or Green-Venom-Tongue. A companion that isn't a goody two-shoes and whom might passively give a boon to assassinations. It's also the logical addition if they are concerned with character representation.

Bastion is an imperial and as such I put him in Imperial Armor but your idea about being a former legionaire would be great - a companion similar to Titus Valerious would be most welcome. I'm a long time Imperial enjoyer with many of my toons Imperial so I understand your request but do think we need some different types companions such as a vampire who doesn't mind Dark Brotherhood missions and the like.

As much as I like Bastian, I am very annoyed they made him imperial. He was breton at first then of some reason they decided to change him into imperial at the last second, despite being born in High Rock and everything about him is Breton.

Sure, all races can be found being born and growing up in all of Tamriel's provinces and cultures, but when companions are as limited as they are, with max two being released a year, they should make the first one of race fit their original culture. When there's more then they can get experimental.

Because right now we technically have two breton companions and are unlikely to get an imperial from Cyrodiilic culture in many years. Something something ZOS' terrible treatment of imperials.

We are likely to get two of the missing races next, though. Such as bosmer, argonian, orc, redguard or altmer. Who also hopefully are male.

Most likely a necro and a wRde as they are the missing class. As for race most likely an argonian and a wood elf. Argonian since its the only beast race missing the wood elf because we already got 2 human so a 3rd would be redundent. Then wood elf feel more unique than the high elf
Ending the 3rd round of companion with
    6 companion
    1 per class
    2 from man races
    2 from mer races
    2 from beast races

Agree, an Argonain would obvious be an shadowscale and male as they want to use the ladies for Bosmer warden and likely Redguard, not sure about class here?

We already have an Imperial companion in Bastian. I certainly have no objection to more, but we should at least have one of each race first!

Assuming they add to companions, at least one needs to be male — I’m hoping for a handsome male Altmer who isn’t an obnoxious caricature of the worst aspects of Altmer society. An Argonian assassin companion also seems like it would be appropriate given not only the races, but playstyles supported by current companions.

That is very probable. Also that they probably do not want races to repeat as long as there isn't a companion of every race yet. What would mean that this year is probably not Telvanni Peninsula. Hammerfell or some Bosmer zone would still be possible.

I always prefer mer and above all I hope that if there are two companions, both of them will be male. The imbalance must be corrected. However, I wouldn't be surprised if we had a male and a "gender-neutral" companion like Frii.

Personally, I don’t want any more companions. Already have a tank, healer, DPS and one extra. For what is worth, Mirri would be my main companion if only they would fix her stupid bug harvesting hating.

Guess if I had to choose, I would want an Argonian who doesn’t mind killing, stealing or the accidental mess up when I get caught.  Who also likes harvesting. Just good go along get along buddy. His perk could be when you steal something, he also steals something sometimes. You know, for good measure. Or if you get caught, he takes the heat for it.

    Stay safe :)

Interesting. May i, please, wonder if players who want even more Companions had ACTUALLY levelled theirs existing four Companions to level 20, maxed up weapons, armor, and Guilds skill lines?
Do you really want to spent more ages to max up even more Companions? Do you have any life?

We already have Healer, Tank, Melee DD, and Magicka DD completely maxed up and geared. What else is needed?

Of course, for RP when you are followed by non-developed, not geared NPCs: the more - the merrier,
but technically.. i am already bored levelling up existing Companions as it takes enormously big amounts of time.

I don't think the intention necessarily is that all companions had to be used and levelled, but that there's a variety to choose from to fit different interests. And while they can fight, I also don't assume that this is their main purpose. Otherwise some random nameless unspecific npc would have been sufficient. Of course everyone can play how they want, but I think it's quite obvious from the way they are presented with individual likes and dislikes and background stories, that ZOS intended them to be (also) a storytelling and roleplaying device. And for people who see them as that, no, I don't think only having these 4 npcs, 1 male and 3 female, is enough variety.

All I can say, is there better be TWO MALES!! For whatever reason they chose to go with two females last time, and it definitely upset the gender balance... especially after they alluded to possibly adding 'romance options' in the future.

I see several people complaining about leveling them... but this is 'not required'. Nobody is forcing you to use them, nobody is forcing you to level them. People seem to love complaining about anything and everything, but it bugs me when people complain about optional content- as if ZOS is forcing them to partake in that particular content.

I personally LOVE companions and don't have a single problem leveling them. Funny thing, I rarely level the guilds because most of those skills aren't useful anyway, and it was the guild leveling they made easier. The character leveling, skills and armor I do with dolmen runs.

As someone who has more Argonians than anything I was disappointed that we haven't had one yet, until the idea of everyone's screen being full of "lusty Argonian maid" came to mind. Zos would make a fortune selling new maid outfits....

That it took an outcry amongst players for the devs to go "huh, so people actually want male companions?" will never cease to be bizarre to me. In an age where diversity of players is more consistently acknowledged in gaming, it seems to suggest either complete thoughtlessness or something rather sad about how the devs see the player base. We got three female companions and an increase in skimpy armour around the same time... definitely says something doesn't it? Even the one male companion we do have has been completely neglected and treated in a very 'who cares' way from the start. He's literally half finished, missing dialogue lines and still not appearing at the Blackwood 'party' at the end of the questline a year and a half after release.

Even if there is this perception by the devs is that ESO players are mostly male: was there no thought given to maybe some would like a friend for their character or a gay player may want a love interest for theirs? Then you have the reaction to Bastian - some players don't like him, which is fine, but instead of taking it as "we need more than one male characters so there is more selection for players" the takeaway at Zos seemed to be: "aha, see, we thought no one cared about male companions and here's the evidence!". Which is why I think they were so surprised when the call came for more male companion options. I might be wrong but I can't help but see it that way.

As to any new companions? I think they should be both male with one mer and one of a beast race. That should even things out then. I quite like the idea of an Argonian shadow-scale because it allows us to have a companion who may approve of assassination but without being clownishly evil in their characterisation. You could make it interesting which is what we need - well written characters. The mer could be similar in morals to Mirri: ok with thieving but not wholesale murder. Bosmer seems a popular choice so maybe a Bosmer Warden.

You forgot about the "tentpole" system promised by Matt.

This, most likely (cough, cough), means players will get deployable tents in Q4 2023
and Mirri, Ember, and Isobel will do a pole dancing. right in front of our tents!

Thus, i bet next Companions would be girls too. :p

Why do many of you hope for no more companions? Their niche is not like sets/mythics where you frequently need the latest to be optimal. If you’re happy with those you have, you don’t have to level more. I still don’t have any of mine fully leveled because I hate to grind stuff.

    I want additional companions because:
    1) Especially when dialogue is limited and the relationship with each character is defined by rapport alone, I would rather have different companions with different characters.
    2) More options to match companion personality with each of my characters — I unlocked Bastian on my upstanding templar and there are no problems, but my vampire necro assassin is still a loner.
    3) More options to match with player preferences. Maybe you prefer a variety of companions like I do, or maybe you’re still waiting for a character of a particular race or playstyle that would suit you to play with most of your characters.

You are quite correct, we don't.

On the oher hand, its only a series of linked side quests with anattached NPC at the end for which all the mechanisms are now in place.

So for all those players who like it - why not. I'll bet possible scenarios for future companions, if any, have alerady been roughed out and implementing one is now fairly routine.

They are, after all, just an added extra you dont have to use.
