If ZOS were to Overhaul one aspect of the game, what would your choice be?

Personally, a simple Character Animation overhaul would change the game's feel tremendously. Give the player weight and momentum. Have transition animations like slowing to a stop from running/sprinting, as well as pushing off from a stand into a run. Smooth directional turns. More varied Idles.

I'd continue to deal with the Combat mechanics and current visuals if the Player Character felt more alive, like a physical being with mass.

I'd say more race/class specific dialogue and maybe have some random encounters that differ based on this as well. It'd be nice to have more characters recognize you for specific skillset you have and have the world do the same.

Not really an overhaul but I would like more choices in quests and dialog that relate to what we have accomplished. Was kind of cool to be able to say hey I am an expert in alchemy and go that direction with a quest. More of that I would enjoy.

Kind of along that line (if it is a really wide line) maybe have some NPCs from side quests we've helped in the past ask for our help again. Would give reason to return to some zones we might not have visited for a while.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

Well, the entire engine could use some serious help haha but I'd also like to see better animations/physics. I can't stand them in this game; walking, running, sneak, jumping, combat animations, they are all pretty horrid. Mounts especially look ridiculous zooming around everywhere. I avoid using anything other than senche mounts usually just because it looks the least terrible. Also, the physics are really a drag.... no capes, robes are painted on bodysuits.... seriously, I'm in heaven when I log onto GW2 and see my characters hem flowing as she runs.

After four years I jumped on my theif/assassin toon and went to Hews Bane to see why I hated it so much.

Sneak! What a complete pile of crud.. sneak up to a door, character stands up to go through and gets spotted, sneak up to quest item character stands up and gets spotted.

Sneak up behind assassination victim, character has to draw their main weapon to use blade of woe.. which can take enough time for victim to spot you.

Trading. The fixation on having to join a player-controlled guild feels misplaced, makes a basic part of MMO functionality convoluted, and is offputting to many, many people.

Changing it doesn't have to involve an auction house, either. There are other options, not least automated guild traders.

Healing. Investing in healing shouldn't be the same as investing in damage. Yes I know there are set and CP differences, but if you've got good damage you've got good healing and this makes the traditional healer role less useful and less necessary especially in PvP. Its a leading factor in the recurring tanky metas and until it's really dealt with that won't change.

For me I'd overhaul the Combat team based on their performance over the previous year. That alone would have positive reverberations throughout the game.

Simple solution would be to also allow for trading guilds npcs to buy stuff from other players. Similar to how you post items you want to sell, you would post items you want to buy for how much etc. Every one visiting trading guild npc would be able sell you item you want, as long as they have it in their inventory. That way pretty much every player (to some extend) could participate in eso global trading & would increase supply of items.

I mean lots of stuff but for everyone over all I'd say add more options for character creation, separate eyes from facial markings, hide more armor options. For the combat guys well I could go at length 😂

Global auction house or something similar instead of trading guilds and vendors scattered across the world. I've refused to participate in the trading and economy of the game since it's inception. Haven't joined a guild, haven't sold a thing to a player, and only rarely use the guild traders to find something I'm simply having no luck finding like a researchable trait for crafting.

It's an idea that's been discussed before but the trouble is, I'm not clear why anyone would bother to post "wanted to buy" listings. In practice, I doubt it would provide a sensible alternative, even though the idea is nice.

The trading system alienates people *who simply want to be able to sell and don't want it gated by the actions of other players*. In that context, the game needs a straightforward, non-player controlled selling mechanic that can be used by *a lot* of people.

The most straightforward way to do that that doesn't kill ZOS's / "I've been playing this game since 1865 and nothing should ever change because I do it this way"-type players' sacred cows does seem to be to set up "guild" trader NPCs that are automated, rather than player controlled, and through which any player can sell, but with some type of tax to keep the old guard happy.

Well, I think that it would be actually used quite often (if it existed in the game), as for all of those guild traders who are "re-selling" stuff it would be quite easy to make gold. Base price would go down, so even if some one will sell it for more, then the final price will be lower and stuff will be more accessible.

    In following priority:
    1. Complete Overland Overhaul (Difficulty and Living World inclusive)
    2. Distinct, Impactful and Contemporary Skill Overhaul (Every NPC in High Isle has better skill animations than every single Nightblade skill … Seriously, so many players would love to play a "Bloodmage"- or "Shadowpriest"-Archetype but the skills look massively underwhelming)

Both aspects are treated so poorly, while they are really essential for new players and their first impression. They already exist in the game but Zenimax just does not salvage it. Right now a lot of this ends with something like "It could be so cool. With a portion of imagination …"

Too many changes over the past years have made healers less fun to play and even less identity and utility in PvE. Investing in magicka should enhance my ability to do damage or heal. Gear and CP are already have options specific healing versus damage.

Questing. I'd like more choices, consequences and branching paths. We sorta had this in vanilla but as we moved onto DLC we got fewer and fewer choices to the point where they're all but absent at this stage. They don't even use the disguise mechanic anymore.

Visually update everything. Add mantling, and design future content with mantling in mind. :p

Because I can't help myself, also:
    • Make weather more harsh and immersive, windier, snowier, rainier
    • Add survival elements like camping, temperature ratings on clothing, and resurrection at further distances
    • Significantly increase the amount of damage taken in Overland, at least for those who want it
    • Create a system that rewards you for not dying in Overland when in harder difficulty modes
    • Open up a massive amount of medium and smaller sized homes inside cities and towns
    • Allow us to pick out plots of land within the Overland landscape, where it makes sense, letting us farm and create from scratch
    • Let us watch the world outside from inside our homes, through windows or from our outdoor spaces, as other characters bustle about, instead of instancing us off so we see the world outside as empty
Alternatively, just add all this stuff in ESO 2, should that ever be a thing ;)

Oooh, tough choice. There is a lot I'd personally have liked different or added. I think I'd maybe *mostly* like a combat change/difficulty increase. Maybe not just "Here's the world on Vet dungeon settings" but just something better. Maybe faster attacking NPC's, risks, things that do hurt more. Stories sort of lose their charm when the big bad is two words into their sentance and you've killed them already.

That being said, offering more choices and paths to the world and the quests would also be quite nice, like Vri said. I'm not sure, too much to choose from but I feel that might be my top two, though my awnser could most likely change every time I was to awnser the question!

The second kind of already exists. If you set your character to always walk, when you sprint the transition is smoother. Not sure on the console.

What i want for character creation is to be able to revisit the creation screen at the end of the tutorial. Characters look different in game vs chargen.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Add damage calculators to base game and enable them by default. I think if you queue for "Damage-Dealer" then you should be aware of when you are doing less damage-dealing than tanks and healers.

I would like light attack spam made more meaningful, rather than reduced.

Might there be benefit in doing what games in other genres do and go for a combo & finisher system?

LA, LA, LA, = Combo ender 1 as additional effect/attack next time you press LA

LA, LA, HA = Combo ender 2 as additional effect/attack next time you press HA

HA, HA, HA = Combo ender 3 adding haste making the next HA chain as fast as light attacks before a short cooldown on proccing this again.

    etc, etc

Of course, the combo would not need to be done in succession. It would be like necromancer skull stacks that you accumulate and don't lose even if using other abilities.

It would make combat at least somewhat more engaging like an action game.
