Why are updates so s-l-o-w?

It seems that every time there is a patch it takes most of a day to implement it. Does this happen to everyone? Other comparable games get updated in times to be measured in minutes, not hours. I tried to play TESO today and after almost three hours I am at 25% complete. So that's no play today, come back tomorrow.

✭Maybe you’re trying to download the patch at a popular time. Their servers only have so much out-going bandwidth so if lots of people are downloading at the same time it takes longer. I usually download new patches early in the morning and rarely have to wait more than 5-10 minutes.2 -

✭✭✭✭✭Difficult to assess without knowing where you are the world and what kind of internet connection you have including download speed etc.
What you could try is disconnecting the launcher and restarting it, you might get a better connection to the patcher.1 -

- your internet speed (for the download)
- type of drive of your platform (mechanical or SSD)

✭On my optical fiber cable 600 Mbit speed, and fresh new PC with lastest hardware, patching and installing goes extremely fast (one to few minutes), comparing with old 15Mbit internet and a way slower older PC. ✭✭✭✭✭I don’t know if OP is on PC or console, but my downloads were super slow (with high speed internet) until I found out the hubby had switched the PS4 to use wi-if instead.
