Do You Use The Other Forums?

The ESO forums have a lot of different forum categories and subcategories, but lots of people just post straight to General Discussion, and every now and again a forum mod will move it to a more appropriate place on the forums. So hence the question, do you use the other forums here, (e.g., Player Guides, Alliance War & Imperial City), or only General Discussion? Somewhere in-between? I tried to keep the poll options fairly neutral, but feel free to expand on your answer in the comments.

Sometimes I go to Lore, Tales, and Housing forums. But most of the time is spent in GD.

Typically I look at the general section the most because it tends to be the most active and it's also where the outfit megathread is. Every once in a while I do like to poke around in the lore section or the pts to read patch notes.

Yes and no. Sometimes I only check the general forums, and when I have more time on my hands I also check some of the other forums. Mostly forums like tech support, crown store, bug forum, housing.

What I am really missing on this forum, is an off-topic part. Where we can discuss other things besides ESO: Movies, games, tv shows, or any other hot topic, like covid, company take overs/mergers, other forums, the holidays, music, upcoming stuff, etc.

Usually, i only visit general while waiting for dungeons or in loading screens doing writs so not a lot of time to browse. Besides general i rarely check pvp and combat subsections (once a month or so), also pts feedback when new patch drops.

Wow that takes me back. When I first discovered forums as a teenager I found all the different sections confusing and just used the 'general' section for everything, I even got in trouble a few times with moderators for posting things in the wrong place after I'd already been told.

But I got used to it over the years (decades) and now I do use multiple sections on forums. I don't read or post in every part of the ESO forum, because there's a lot of topics I'm not that interested in, but I'll look at whichever ones do currently interest me.

I view the main page multiple times a day but forget about the other pages as they are slower at getting new posts. I like Housing, Crafting and Helping other Players but sometimes pop into the PVP ones if I need more to read.

General of course gets most of the attention as it moves faster but I'll check out housing and crafting, the pvp forums, players helping, pts, and even the bug report/tech help for Xbox and PC.

Lore, housing, community creations, and the pts from time to time.

The community creations area makes me depressed sometimes, so many fun threads, but they feel relegated to an unused and unvisited corner. It’s too bad.

I voted no but that's because I don't browse subforums. Instead I use the recent link at the top ( https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussions ) which shows recent posting from everywhere. So I don't care what subforum any post is in.

Yup. This is me. Participated first, then recent, then dev stalker. The latter is only rarely used, so if I skip a few days, I don't usually miss anything.

I pay almost zero attention to what category (aka "forum") the discussion is in unless I am creating the discussion. No matter where a discussion is started, the mods will move it to whatever suits their fancy.

I use Recent Discussions to review the first three pages. So I end up in the various subforums.

I have since learned to check the subforum, though, after a few times I answered what I thought was a generic title question in General, and which turned out to be in the Tales of Tribute section instead. Oops!

I have no interest in some of the other subforums like housing, lore, tot etc. as I don't really enjoy or participate in those aspects of the game, but I will hop on over to bug reports, combat mechs, pvp from time to time. More so recently, when moderators have locked and redirected threads in general discussion to lesser-viewed subforums, e.g. about the various block bugs - it's almost as if they don't want casual visitors to know about there being bugs with block for 2+ months on the trot and zero satisfactory resolution.

Ahhh. Yes. Sometimes it is also necessary to make sure that the discussion is not in a PVP/Cyrodiil category before replying to a general sounding comment. Made that mistake. Easy way to get tail feathers singed.

I use the PTS forum at peak PTS times, and also keep an eye on (and occasionally contribute to) the Bug Reports and PC Technical Support sub-forums.

If the Mods moved enough specialist posts to the appropriate sub-forums, and posters got used to that, then those sub-forums would be more populated and this one would avoid being hijacked by non-general topics.

Eh, I just realized that the "I browse often" option doesn't specify how many others. I should have chosen that option after all, as I do check several of the other forums pretty regularly. I don't check all of the others, just the ones that are more relevant or hold more interest to me.

General is the starting point for general discussions (!), then other ones for specifics, most usually combat, crafting, addons, lore, and PTS.
