I just saw a post below of this about names in game. I have a character within the name "Imperial Computer" is this okay? It is not the full name of anything other than race Imperial, so I assume okay? This is my favourite MMO game and do not want get into trouble.

I think that name should be totally fine.
The other thread is around ppl naming characters too closely to NPCs in game.

As ZOS_Kevin points out in that thread it's best to avoid names that are similar phonetically or written.

So if I decided to name a character Lyris Titanbourne or Sai Sahaan it would likely get flagged by the algorithm.
Even something like Sai Sahansolo might get tagged as it's too close to their names.
When the Bard personality came out I really wanted to create a Bard-Rogue type character for RP named M'aiq the Lyre (I love M'aiq the Liar).
But then thought if the name got flagged and I had to change it, then most of the point of the character is lost.

Either way my personal practice is just to come up with something original, then you've likely no worries.
    • "Some enjoy bringing grief to others. They remind M'aiq of mudcrabs - horrible creatures, with no redeeming qualities."
    • "When my time comes, I will smile. And that will be all." -Sir Nathain Galien

Here's my advice for what its worth. I agree that its best to come up with something original and there are a surprising number of methods for doing this. Not saying anymore about this but its out there. Secondly, I do agree with everything TOS says actually, however keep in mind if the TOS is fair and you believe your name is legit, then there is no need to worry about it or walk on eggshells for other gamers who are out to cause problems for you.

Read the TOS, take some time choosing your Account/Character Name and then just live your life. Be prepared to defend your case if necessary but don't give any room for unsavory folks to lean on you out of spite because there are always those who will. And if you are worried about getting reported for your name then know that there are those in the community who will report you, they did it to me one time for no reason, but they will do it. This is why sometimes I will go so far as to open a ticket with ZOS Support FIRST before committing to an Account/Character name.
