Would you still play ESO if it was NOT a Elder Scrolls game?

No. I've only selected ESO because of the Elder Scrolls world. My first Elder Scrolls game was Daggerfall, I am a fan ever since.

So it means that I don't care much about the combat mechanics, class balance, gear farming, economy, group activities etc. This also means that I am against the idea of skipping a year without new chapters in favor of "bug fixes". I prefer to have new content.

While I do like the combat and certain other aspects of the game. I will say and keep saying, if this game didn't have The Elder Scrolls IP it would have a lot less players due to numerous issues bugs. Brand loyalty is strong.

Overland content has become more and more brain dead easy to the point where you really can ignore every enemy except for one's you have to kill and if you do engage them you can stand there naked afk and not die. Base game dungeons are a joke as well and even some older dlc dungeons have become too easy. The only time a challenge arises is when you play a new dlc dungeon or hardmode. Even some trials you can get through just by ignoring mechanics and doing high dps. This isn't just my experience as many new players that I get into the game state its too easy for them when they are like level 10 with random gear. That's a problem.

I am only 3 months old in this game, and it is not my experience. I think the game is plenty difficult when playing solo and I am not able to tackle WB yet at level 50 CP 187.

But I would also not have shown any interest with this game if it did not take place in the TES worldd - in fact it has frustrated me more than any game before ever has.

I will not play ESO without "TES Lore" . That is why they need TES VI asap, so it will introduce TES to new players and they will probably continue their advantures via ESO.

Definitely not. I would never even have read about it. In a way I'm playing ESO despite its being an MMO and until this year I even mostly liked it. The last half year or so obviously put an end to this, so now I'm virtually only doing daily crafting. :(

I give ESO a try because it's related to the Elder Scrolls and it was new, (I could start at the beginning with everyone else). I stay because, despite the flaws, I like playing the game and the guild friends I have here.

Good god no. Certainly not after the horrid launch and the flip-floppity direction since.

I'm invested in TES lore and each game is another chapter in my own ongoing story in it. I bought into this game with the intent to continue that tradition and learn even more about the lore, see Tamriel in a different era and see what other characters I could fit into already existing family trees and what not.

It being TES is the only reason why I'm here and the only things that's carried the game as far as it has gotten.

I tried the game because it’s an elder scroll game. It being an elder scroll game isn’t what makes me keep playing it.

I played Skyrim but was not really an Elder Scrolls guy but at the time I started playing ESO I had finally had my fill of WoW and had tried out Final Fantasy, Never Winter Online, GW2 and a few others and ESO.

ESO is the one that stuck for the combat and aesthetics intially and now mostly for the guilds and communities I got involved with.

Still haven't even completed all the intial alliance zone quests and I have fun every day with almost all of the activities available to me PVP and PVE wise.

Absolutely not. I lost faith in this game and the people 'leading' it's development a LONGGGGGGGGG time ago. I've been a fan of the Elder scrolls series since I was a child. Despite Zos' best efforts to chase me and my money away I remain a fan.

Absolutely, this game being in the Elder Scrolls universe was just a nice bonus. I'm old enough to have grown up playing Ultima Online, Guild Wars 1, WoW....I am always interested in MMORPGs, they're my primary hobby (typically just one at a time, though, can't dedicate enough time to successfully play two well at once). I am disappointed but not surprised by the number of people who voted no to this question, indeed given the direction ZoS appear to be steering ESO in, I have a nasty feeling in my stomach that people more like me are going to be pushed aside as they try to cater to what seems to be the larger audience of people who treat ESO more like a single player game and don't pursue traditional MMO end game like I do.

I really hope I'm wrong and they can manage to cater to all of us loyal players, no matter how we personally like to play, but this year has really damaged that hope.

It has nothing to do with an Elder Scrolls game, because in any Elder Scrolls Game enemies are worth a fight.

No difficulty = no point in playing.

I played the three previous Elder Scrolls games, which was what made me want to play (once the subscription was no longer a requirement) I've tried other MMOs that don't need a subscription since and I can't find a replacement.

If it was not Elder Scrolls it would never have been called ESO and I most likely wouldn't have even considered it because I'd be too busy playing an Elder Scrolls game.

You're right. I'm here primarily for the TES lore (which for the most part, post One Tamriel, they've been absolutely nailing).

The lore and the TES-style free-form exploration and dungeon delving are the only really great aspects of the game imo, and literally everything else is stuff I put up with.

This one has played every Elder Scrolls game upon launch, all the way back to Arena, and he can declare with impunity that ESO is not an Elder Scrolls Game. Do not misunderstand, Khajiit loves ESO. Is perhaps a delightful theme park built with great care and attention around many themes from Elder Scrolls, yes. But is not true Elder Scrolls.

Probably not, I came here to play an Elder Scrolls game with friends. I love TES lore and the rich storytelling, mechanics, and impactful character choices of the single player games. ESO does look like a TES game and really expanded the lore, and the mechanics are not bad, but it needs to step up the rich storytelling and impactful character choices (even if these only end up as either acknowledgement of past quest completion, branching dialogue, or non-main quest alt endings that don't impact the main stories).

I heard about the game due to the TES name but didn't buy at launch, I'm aware of the series and have played some games before but not a huge fan and I had other games to play at the time. I gave ESO a try several years after launch, I've always wanted to play as a reptilian character in an MMO and as far as I knew only ESO offered that. If I woke up tomorrow and the game wasn't specifically a TES game anymore but still kept my lizard wizard then I'd likely keep playing. It's not like there's any MMOs I could play instead - they really dislike cold-blooded races. :P

Honestly I wish it was NOT an Elder Scrolls game, just because the lore severely limits what kinds of playable races we can get.

However, I've always loved the Elder Scrolls series, and the world and lore are great.

My prediction is that before this game finally closes down, there will be more playable races. I think the "Lore" is more of a suggestion than actual rules.

I only bought ESO because it was related to TES and would give me something to do until TES6 is launched. If it was originally advertised as anything other than ESO I would never have bought it.

I'm in the same boat. I got lost hardcore in Tamriel when Morrowind came out and after pretty much playing nothing but Elder Scrolls games for 10 years (about half of that on Skyrim), I was ready for something new, but was not ready to leave Tamriel, so I tried ESO, and now I am hooked.

I don't care about the ESO lore. In fact I find it rather bland and not all that interesting. I like the combat and build variety that the game offers.

I'm waiting for a Dragon Age MMO. I would jump ship for that game.

Goodness imagine a Dragon Age MMO set during the first blight .... I wold love that so hard. Unfortunately, that is very unlikely to happen. And if it did, say they started building the game in 2023 - the game would likely not be ready until 2030 as MMO's take a long time to develop. Wistful dreams, eh?

But no, I would not still be playing if it were not an Elder Scrolls title. I love the lore and the setting of Elder Scrolls, and that is what keeps me here.

The fact it's an Elder Scrolls game is the only reason I had any interest in it from the start. It's the only reason I stuck with it as long as I did, and it's the only reason I still keep an eye on news about the game to see if it's going to improve to the point I actually want to get back into it.
