Would you still play ESO if it was NOT a Elder Scrolls game?

After playing the game for so long I started to wonder what is keeping me and other long term players here. I had a thought today that if ESO was not affiliated with The Elder Scrolls, as in its a stand alone IP, would people still play it as much as they do today. TLDR at the bottom

We all know ESO has had a rough year and maybe even the year before last. Most new chapters are not bad but they are not big or amazing either, kinda in the middle. Some recent updates like U35 and U36 were not well received and changed the game, small changes for some and major for others. Our new feature of this year was Tales of Tribute which is honestly again, just okay. I love card games usually but this one just feels meh.

Overland content has become more and more brain dead easy to the point where you really can ignore every enemy except for one's you have to kill and if you do engage them you can stand there naked afk and not die. Base game dungeons are a joke as well and even some older dlc dungeons have become too easy. The only time a challenge arises is when you play a new dlc dungeon or hardmode. Even some trials you can get through just by ignoring mechanics and doing high dps. This isn't just my experience as many new players that I get into the game state its too easy for them when they are like level 10 with random gear. That's a problem.

PvP has suffered the worst of all. The whole starting premise of this game was the alliance war. PvP can still be fun but with constant connectivity issues and the same old same old looking areas it has gotten stale over 8 years. Battlegrounds has gotten no love either. PvP is neglected.

I am not bashing on ESO, I'll probably play this game till the servers shutdown but I am genuinely curious to know people's minds on this.

With all this being said TLDR, would you still play Elder Scrolls Online with all its issues if it was in no way affiliated with The Elder Scrolls franchise and a stand alone new IP.

I only bought ESO because it was related to TES and would give me something to do until TES6 is launched. If it was originally advertised as anything other than ESO I would never have bought it.

Yeah. If this game was not Elder Scrolls related I never would have picked it up.

Probably not, TES is a franchise I enjoy very much.

That being said, I also enjoy the Final Fantasy franchise even more and started it at a younger age and am surprised I never started playing there.

I started/continue playing ESO for the PVP.

No. The main pull for me was/is that it's Elder Scrolls. Generally speaking, I have little to no interest in mmorpg's, group activity or PvP games, so if ESO was an independent IP, I most likely would have skipped it as soon as I saw "mmorpg" in the description.

If ESO wasn't an Elder Scrolls game I'd probably never have looked at it in the first place.

It's not the only factor, I mean I like Lord of the Rings and Star Wars and there was a time I thought a Warcraft RPG would be my perfect game but I don't play any of those MMOs, and I do play Guild Wars, which is purely an MMO franchise, so the mechanics matter too.

But being an Elder Scrolls game is what got me interested in the first place and why I signed up for the betas, if it wasn't I probably wouldn't have even noticed the advert.

I don't care about the ESO lore. In fact I find it rather bland and not all that interesting. I like the combat and build variety that the game offers.

I'm waiting for a Dragon Age MMO. I would jump ship for that game.

Nope, I probably wouldn't have even given it a second thought had it not. There were so many MMO's out there when ESO first came out it probably wouldn't have survived without the Elder Scroll's name on it.

Likely wouldn't ever even look ESO's way, let alone pick it up if it wasn't affiliated with Elder Scrolls.

Basically: Is this MMO? You mean it has people in it :s? Thanks, but no thanks! :D

Still took till 2020 for me to pick it up (got bored waiting for Elder Scrolls 6 to come out  )

    No.

I tried the game in Beta because it was an Elder Scrolls game but, I didn't enjoy the gameplay enough to feel I wanted to subscribe.

A bit after it shifted off the subscription model I did end up getting it as a group of my friends got it after that because the price dropped low enough that it was worth getting to do a bit more in the Elder Scrolls Universe.

We all ended up getting annoyed with it and quitting after around six months to a year.

I decided to go back and give it a spin around the time that Morrowind came out because Morrowind was always one of my favorite games and I had fun for a while but then ended up quitting again.

Around year ago I got burned out on the other MMO's I had been playing so I decided to give it a spin again. I wouldn't be surprised if I'm not playing anymore again for a while in a couple months the gameplay experience just isn't that good for me .

The only reason I tried ESO was because it was Elder Scrolls and it didn't look like TES6 would be coming out anytime soon. I'd sworn off MMOs (and I expect ESO will be my last), but I gave ESO a try because it's set in Tamriel.

Of course not! It is the core of the game.

Would you play Settlers of Catan, if it wasn't in Catan? Of course not! You would play Settlers of <wherever you want>.

No but it don't affect current state of the game who is pretty bad, but not close to that is was then I left after close to an year after launch.
The VR system was an total fail. One tamriel saved ESO.
As for future random combat changes because we need to change stuff so it look like we do something.
Look at the player numbers and more important ESO+ revenue, if that go down replace them as they failed the primary objective and get fired,
For me, nerfs and player loss from the groups who I did vet dlc dungeons with made it not relevant this year.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Probably not. I would have stuck with World of Warcraft and not paid any attention to ZOS Game Number 1. Given that this game was almost stillborn, it is possible that no one else would be playing it today, either. I think "Elder Scrolls" is what kept this game alive long enough for it to become what it is today.

PvP and vet trials and dungeons. PvP is the most challenging aspect of ESO to master and the ultimate measure of skill in ESO.
