Is there a way to control my "friends"? I just want them to stay close and not pull aggro all the time.

It's so much worse when it's not your own companion but someone else's and they end up resetting a world boss because they stand so far back. If I'm killing world bosses I like to keep a taunt on my bar to help counteract this.

They use intuitive ai, that hopefully gets updated with patches. I think thats your only hope.

Try an ice staff. They'll prefer to stay at range but if someone's in their face, they'll block - not dodgeroll away.

I only use ice dps or tank companions and both work well for me, but you said you didn't want them pulling aggro.

Said it a few times before: Companions should only be able to get aggro if they specifically have a taunt skill equipped. Otherwise they should never get aggro!

It is really annoying if you have already placed all your aoe's, and have to keep targetting the mob to attack them. All the while the mob keeps running and moving after your companion. Which then dies in two hits, as it is a DPS companion. Making them entirely useless.

PS: This would be a major QoL feature in my opinion!
PPS: This is coming from someone who loves companions!

Companions pulling aggro is one of the reason i use them. it makes using stealth kills easier and helps me relax in game.
That being said, a option to turn it on and off would be appreciated. granted i never had a companion reset a boss maybe it's because i play stam.

They should, if tanking, pull aggro. The issue is that their dodge roll is not well implemented, so they end up either 1) pulling the boss out of our AOEs (imagine wasting an entire ultimate); or 2) dodge rolling so far back that the boss resets. Both issues are awful for us. Would love that to be improved.

Drops ground dots on first mob in public dungeon. Entire mob sprints past me to chase Ember who makes a run for it all the way back to the entrance.

This is not the AI that we asked for.

The thing is they are not the ones pulling aggro, they have no aggro range with enemies. Companions can run through multiple hostile mobs and not cause them to attack, they are actually reacting to your presence just like the way pets do. You get into an enemy's range, the enemy starts combat with you, your companion starts attacking what is attacking you.

if i need a companion, i summon a tank. ranged companions are problematic.
