How Much of the Voice Acting do you listen to? [Poll]

Most of it when I'm doing new quests, none of it when we're talking about ambient chatter because that gets on my nerves after the second or third repetition.
Since I usually read faster than the voice actors speak, I sometimes skip quest dialogue, too.

I try and listen to as much as I can. The writing is great overall, and I enjoy the lore, and the humour.

There are times I miss or skip listening to dialogue due to "external" reasons, or am forced to skip.

I'll even return to some of the more static NPCs and interact with them just for the humour, etc.
PC NA Yes, I use add-ons.

I try to listen to it all the first time through content, but after I've heard it several times I tend to just click past it, although I'll listen to it all again on occasion depending on my mood and whether or not I'm rushing to get something done in a hurry.

None of these answers fit me, How much I listen depends on the voice; There are so many dodgy accents (attempts at accents) that it puts me right off and I skip a lot. It doesn't matter to me if the character is played by a famous actor, it just needs to be a competent one.

All of it the first time.

For NPCs like merchants and daily quest givers, I'll listen the first time for each unique dialogue and then I usually skip on subsequent visits. But not always.

This pretty much. Though not specifically the flirting, more that I can barely stand the writing and dialogue any more.

Well, it's a mixture of both, I'd say. An excess of meaningless flirty chatter combined with the lack of interesting information. Plus all the repetitions. I really miss the writing of Morrowind, CWC and Summerset.

On a new quest I listen to all of it more or less, on a repeating quest I usually skip, unless it's an NPC/dialogue that I like. For eg., I've heard Jester Queen Ayrenn's dialogue a lot of times without skipping because I really enjoy the voice acting.

I've never met any real-life Nirnians [Nirnites?], so I wouldn't know what their actual accents are supposed to sound like! :D

That depends a lot on the NPC. Ayrenn, Emeric, Jorunn, Abnur Tharn and others with more famous voice actors usually get all my attention. It's nice to feel as if, say, Alfred Molina himself were chatting with me.

Edit: Just to clarify, the above paragraph refers only to listening to NPCs. I tend to read everything they say, except when it's from repeated dialogue.

I always listen the first time through a quest, and always listen to my favorite characters and quest stories every time. I only skip past the more boring ones if the particular story is not part of that alt's story in my head cannon. I really enjoy voice acting, and games without it now feel a bit lonely and less alive to me.

In terms of overland I listen to every word so that is what I voted. In terms of group content, I skim it and half listen to what they're saying outside of direct conversation.

I listen to everything during my first run, excepting dialogue options that I skip on purpose ("Remind me again, who/what/why is ..."). Hearing the characters speak helps with the immersion - if there was an "audio without subtitles" option I'd try it.

All of it, at least once, generally most of the time. I sometimes skip on daily quests or when buying materials but if I have time I love the voice acting.

Whaaat, @Syldras , are you telling me you don't enjoy doing quests where many can be summarised to:
    • Go talk to Steve.
    • Steve tells you about a Thingy that might stop Plot. You should go to Someweyr and look.
    • You arrive at Someweyr and meet Steve. You talk to steve. You both talk like parrots about the Thingy to stop Plot which is supposed to be found there at Someweyr.
    • Oh no, Thingy was not there! Better talk to Steve again about Thingy to stop Plot which was not at Someweyr, it must be found elswhere! Good thing is, Steve just happened to find out where Thingy to stop Plot might be, the few seconds it took you to magically transport your Vestige self across the landscape in a blink. Thingy to stop Plot is in the possesion of Villainius in Thereville!
    • Steve tells you now to go to Thereville and find Villainius to get the Thingy to stop Plot!
    • Thereville, such mundane place, ah and there is Steve. He greets you all chummy and tells you to go look for Villainius and the Thingy to stop Plot. After a short event of talking with other people about Villainius, Thingy and the Plot, you discover that oh no Villainius is a bad guy and he has the Thingy! Who could've guessed! Steve is so shocked, you both gawk at eachother.
    • After a little hmm and headtilting Steve knows what you shall do. You need to find clues about Villainius and how he plan to use Thingy-of-totally-obvious-use-by-now for obvious-Plot! Yes, you tell him you will find clues about Villainius and how he plan to use Thingy for Plot.
    • At Villainius home you find the clues, which is a journal of his evil plans to do Bad-thing and a letter to his Henchman about using Thingy to do so. Which are lying neatly on his desk and nightstand.
    • Steve arrives!
    • Steve asks you if you have found out what Villainius is up to with the Thingy and Plot.
    • You tell him about Villainius, the Thingy, the Plot which is to do Bad-thing, and that Henchman is going to use Thingy to do Bad-thing.
    • Steve says you two need to stop Villainius and his Henchman from using Thingy to do Plot of Bad-thing! You agree that you need to stop Villainius and Henchman from using Thingy to do Bad-thing. Off you go.
    • Shockinly to no one you stop Villainius' Henchman, but Villainius escaped!
    • Steve thanks you and says you did a good job in stopping Villainius and his Henchman from using Thingy in their Plot to do Bad-thing, but that it's bad Villainius got away. But nevermind him! You shall now enjoy your hero party and see everyone from all the side quests you did.

Then dlc comes and you get a message from someone that tells you Steve wants to meet. Because it's time for Plot 2:Electric Boogaloo! Villainius was nowhere to be found until now and is up to a new Plot! Which is a total mystery and is obviously not a second go to do Bad-thing.

Insert npcs who does suggesting innuendos at your leisure. Also assign one dimensional trait to Steve. Can be flirty, quirky, bland or something else. But only one thing!
[Lie] Of course! I don't even worship Daedra!

The first time I do the quest I listen to the dialogue.

After that on other characters I just either read through the text, faster than the quest giver is speaking or just keep skipping and follow the quest markers.

If I like the sound of the voice though I will be more likely to listen again.

All of it at least the 1st time, multiple times I sometimes skip.

I really LOVE voice acting in games, this coming from someone who grew up with games with lots of text and no voice.

I do love Queen Ayren's voice though, she reminds me of a certain kickass vampire.

And truth be told Abnur Tharn's voice is also good, like a very talented doctor from the sea.

And the one voice that moves me, Sir Cadwell, so heroic, so daring do, like he was made to be the greatest hero in all tamriel.

I'm a lifelong lover of reading. I actually enjoy reading the dialogue.

But most of the VAs are kinda meh to me. The original main story voice cast is good, but after Orsinium I tend to just listen to music and mute the game audio.

Depends. I can go to some older quest spots just to listen to certain NPCs, or I can skip a bit of new ones when they are really bland and boring or repeat for the third time the same stuff. In general I found that the latest voice acting severely lacks emotion. Except Ember, Ember is the only character in the whole season that seems to be alive, and Frii, they are just different. The rest are an embodiment of "oh no! anyway".
