    New Race
I'd like both, but since I have no idea what class I'd like, I voted for race, since I'd love Maormer to be added.
Glory to you and your Dunmer House!

    New class
I'd like a new class for those of us who want to start over again but with new animations/skill ideas. I'd like argonians to be improved before a new race is introduced, as the Argonian is the most unique looking race in elder scrolls, but with the least effective passives.

Besides, very few races would fit lorewise, with Maormer being one of the only sensible options.
No it really wouldn't, since the Maormer would never be allowed in to the Dominion.

This is actually the angle I'm going for with my story. It's actually seeming pretty exciting.

I know Ayrenn has talked about her time with the Sea Elves, so she may be fine with a lone Maormer in her brigade, but that would 100% cause tension with the rest of her entourage.

My character's backstory is also a gender flipped version of the Sea Keep objective as well, with the exception that the Altmer captain betrays him after he helps to kill the Maormer captain sieging the keep. Because he was in a relationship with an Altmer, he ends up shunned by the rest of the Maormer and alone for a few years. I think it'd be interesting to write his story coming back to Khenarthi's Roost (where his father - Jyklos - is attacking), fighting against his own people, and then the queen naively taking him as an Eye of the Queen over everyone else's objections.

It does sound like a fun story. I'm also curious about going into Firesong, but I hated the High Isle storyline so much I have to psych myself back up for it to see how it goes. That'll require quite a rewrite to have my Maormer guy do it.

It certainly did not help that they nerfed the unique Argonian potion passive in order to give them... a line of generic Stamina.

    New class
Of these two, for sure new class. I want to experience the game with an entirely fresh playstyle. But personally, I'd take a new weapon skill line or two over a new class. I wouldn't want the work of leveling up all the other skill lines, and would rather see new life breathed into my alts. Just me personally though, would be happy with either.

New class for the same reason others said. Playing a new race feels VERY similar. A new class would actually be different.

Then maybe it's time for them to move away from forcing us into an Alliance, and finally give us an 'Unaffiliated' or 'Independent' option, like we should have had all along.

      New Race
A new race would be more exciting for me personally, but I think a new class is the more likely option of these two.

Either way, more character slots would be necessary. More character slots are already necessary for some of us. In fact, just give us more character slots next year, and I won't be mad if I never see a new race or class. I can make my own new races with customization.

      Why not new weapon?

A new weapon is the best - it's still a decent amount of skills, it's actives and passives, which we haven't had since Elsweyr, and it would let vets still use it. Plus the fact that it would get a lot of people into old content to refarm spears (or whatever) for each weapon type and motif.

If I could have anything, I'd take spears.

Spears would actually be pretty good. You could include a passive that increased melee range to 10 (or perhaps 7-8), which would be really handy for high ping pvp. You could perhaps make it a melee kitey play style. Could be fun!

A new class just means three extra skill lines your current characters can never have.

A new race is available to all, and doesn’t change the balance of the game. It should be essentially just cosmetic.

What makes you think a new race will be available to all? You already have to pay for Imperials. Not to mention that a new race is also something your current characters can never have, unless you pay for a race change token as well.
A new polymorph is a much better alternative to adding a new race because that is something everyone can have.

And is something uterly useless as it make uou play another character not yours

As a role-player, here are my hopes.

Both? A new race would be wonderful. i LOVE the look of sea elves, for example.
New class? Bring on druids - or something that can shape-shift like WoW druids. i MISS my animal forms!

Other, new server. Dedicated RP server PLEASE.

Id much prefer a new class, but I think we'll take anything at this point that isn't Single-Player-Content in an MMO.

The last 3 years we've gotten a Card Game, NPCs to follow you around picking flowers, and a vampire rework no one wanted.

      New Race
I'd rather see the current classes properly balanced better before they bring a new class into the game. There is so much to be done right now in terms of class balancing.

If anything, I'd rather see a new weapon line or two introduced. We've never seen a new weapon in the 8 years the game has been out, and introducing some would open up so much versatility in terms of builds. I think this would be very welcome amongst the community, as there seems to be a general consensus that things have gotten a bit stale due to the hybridization that was introduced.

A primarily magicka weapon such as wand & rune/wand & book or something similar, and perhaps a hybridized weapon (with a combination of mag and stam costing abilities, maybe some split cost abilities) would really shake things up.

I would prefer a new class, the thing it though that ZOS a) can't balance classes, and b) will always make the new class overpowered (remember necro?), so this dampens my enthusiasm. On the other hand there aren't any wild differences on how different races perform, so they are fairly balanced, hence a new race would be more or less used for cosmetic/RP purposes.

Got to be a new class - but it has to be actually useful. This homogenization has killed class identity. This really needs to be at the forefront of what people are talking about more and a new class should in turn have its own identity.

There has been talk on the forums on both scenarios. I figured the poll could be placed here for the community so @ZOS_Kevin could report back the devs on the creative side of things if he has time for it in his schedule.
Having said that, we know a new class wont be happening until the server pvp issues are resolved. but when they are working again, which do you believe should be priority #1 in implementing in the game? A new class or a new race? Which ever choice you elect, if you have examples or ideas for either or both for that matter please list them in the comment section. In regards to class, if you have a class idea it might help to give a description rather just giving a name as other members in the community may have a different idea of what that may entail. An example of this might be calling for a “bard” class, what does a bard entail lore wise and/or skill wise?

Biased poll is a biased poll. Where is the new skill line option or the no thanks were good as we are option?

I think the story in High Isel far exceeds both Morrowind and Orsinium. Okay, the story felt a little smaller, but because they are redoing the foundational server code, they announced that this year would be smaller in scale. I actually loved the feeling I had as I walked away from the last quest. Sure, I seriously doubt that anything game changing will come from it, but I don't care, that ending was perfect for the story they told. I would love to see more stories like High Isle's story. Yes, I want them to be a bit bigger going forward, but if they were able to capture that same feeling each year, it would be amazing. Yes, I also want more quality-of-life updates, but those are different from the story.

To be honest I haven't gotten around to playing the High Isle or Galen stories yet (I always leave them for a bit until the hoards of questers have calmed down lol) I should probably have mentioned that in my post ;) and will likely get around to High Isle during the holiday period.

      Y'all must be new.

New races aren't going to happen. And they shouldn't. It simply does not work with this setting and long established lore. Now, if ESO 2 takes place 100 years after the events of Skyrim and the Snow Elves have reestablished themselves, the Dwemer returned or the Tsaesci and Maormer make peace and establish a settlements on Tamriel then sure! But this ain't that.

      dd0.gif

New Classes would be great but...Not happening while ESO has to accommodate Console players. The devs have stated that because of Console limitations, adding new Classes is not currently possible. You want new Classes? Change your gaming and purchasing habits. Consoles are holding gaming back as a medium. Not just ESO.

The best thing we can hope for in the short and possibly long term are new Skill lines. I'm not aware of any limiting factors in this area. Some things players have been asking for are new Weapon skill lines like Spear, hand to hand and free handed magic. New Werebeasts(Bears, Lions, Boars, etc) and Vampire strains could also make for more interesting gameplay. You know, once we're done "streamlining" and "hybridizing" the game within an inch of it's life.

The problem is that they can’t add new skills animations as consoles can’t preload more of them so skill lines have the same limiting factor that classes have on a smaller scale.

My hope is that they could add new morphs that already use existing animations with altered color schemes and/or simple alterations that do not require much of the system or even use other altered animations or part of them to create new visuals. I don’t know how feasible it is though.
