Maintenance for the week of December 22:
• NA megaservers for maintenance – December 22, 4:00AM EST (9:00 UTC) - 8:00AM EST (13:00 UTC)
• EU megaservers for maintenance – December 22, 4:00AM EST (9:00 UTC) - 8:00AM EST (13:00 UTC)

Why are we having scheduled maintenance over the last few hours of an event...

I thought it was fairly common practice in this game.

The short answer is that it is the normal day scheduled maintenance is performed.

The safest thing to do before the last (half)day of an event is to complete a quest of whatever type gives you tickets, but don't turn it in until after the daily reset. That way you can grab your tickets for the last day as quickly as possible in case there's some kind of outage or other issue.

Just because it's an old practice doesn't mean it's not worth questioning. Besides, the last incremental patch was released on the 14th, a Monday.

It would be nice if events didn't end on the same day maintenance occurs. It can be done, as the last one ended on a Wednesday because Firesong was released a day prior. On the other hand, I'm not really going to complain about this maintenance, as there are several annoying bugs in dire need of correction.

You mist be a new player.

Been playing since beta and running a guild for years actually, but I don't think it hurts to make a point about the dreadful maintenance/event schedule.

They could have ended the event Monday instead of having the end of it messed up by maintenance.

Hey, look. It's this thread again. o:)

    And your point is?

If it is "this" question/post/thread again, then it only means that it was previously not answered or solved.

Even as a seasoned player it still is not understandable to end events on a maintenance day. Especially not if you are on PC EU, where the day almost ends when maintenance ends. PCNA has the big advantage, that maintenance is during night hours and not during the day. On Maintenance day it is generally a nightmare to play the game. After maintenance it takes about until 9 to 10PM on PCEU until the system runs round again. The players that would normall logon during the day, logon in the evening. So it is quite frequent to logon just to be kicked out again. To run serious trials in the evening between 7 and 9 is virtually impossible as you always need to assume that people go offline and are so pissed off that they completely drop out. And running a vet trial with 4 people is not really fun either. Sometimes it is better, sometimes it is this bad.

And now imagine you sit there, wait for a Harrowstorm or a WB and right when they spawn you get kicked out of the game. By the time you relog you only see that the boss was just killed literally a second before you relogged and you can wait again forever for the next spawn. Fun is something different and personally i have better things to do. And hunting for example Harrowstorms isn't viable either. By the time you arrive you can just travel to the next and the next and the next. And every time you will arrive right in the moment when the fight ended. So camping is all you can do, if you want to finish the quest. All this combined with maintenance is anything but fun and it doesn't matter if this topic is brought up again and again. It is and remains a pain in the butt and it is totally fine to remind ZOS again and again. Until they may listen one day.

That these threads pop up like a bad breath in the morning only shows that the players are not very satisfied with the situation. If it would be fixed these threads would just disappear and there would be no need for a "Not this again".

Yes, it's an old practice. But yes, it's also a bad practice and deserves to be quesioned.

I honestly can't keep track of when the dailies reset and when event ends anymore, but it used to be that events ended at 10am EST. If you live in EST and work the typical 8-5, no way you're getting event tickets unless you stay up quite late until after daily reset, or get up super early before maintenance. Maybe it's easier for those on PST.

Either way, regardless of how long this has been the "standard practice" it still should be questioned because it's a bad practice.

What’s the difference between ZOS choosing to end events on Mondays verses Mondays being the last good day for the event because of maintenance the next day?

Yeah, you gotta get up early so you can get that last days tickets.

Otherwise they run the time out during maintenance.

    Because ZOS doesn’t read feedback?

Honestly, this is a recurring theme for each event and there seems to be little incentives for ZOS to do better.

Once, during an event with bad drop rate and surprise maintenances, this one contemplated doing the event quests at 5am just to get the tickets. Then Sammy’s common sense took over and knocked him over the head.

    It could be worse

You could be getting this weekly maintenance right in your prime time window (AEST)

A part of the world where we don't warrant local servers either.

It might be normal practice but what's not normal is starting it at 9am. Normal non dlc maintenances generally start at 11am which gives us in Europe a couple of hours in the morning to get tickets. It's not so easy to manage with the earlier start and if it overruns there won't be time after either
