Any response to the animation changes jabs?

I would like to see a locked thread for the animation changes from the Jabs and Flurry.
So the people who played Templar for 8 Years and dissagree can show their struggle after u35..

I've played my Templar for over 8 years, I honestly no longer notice the changed animation but I did hate it at first.

The damage reduction also initially really annoyed me HOWEVER it actually sort of did me a favour. I stopped just mashing one button and looked more actively at what other skills could give me.

I am not a high dps endgame player but I do love solo-ing dungeons and now I solo them even faster than before update 35, jabs is still on my bar, I just use it a bit less.

Oh to be upfront and honest I am using an Oakensoul setup atm! Infact I have 2 x Templars, a Sorc and a Warden that I would consider I play a lot, they all have the ring but use different sets! 😀
    When people say to me........

I sleep until midday cos I'm a problem solver!

There's two sides to every story, why would you want just to focus on the negative??

Plus as I said I initially hated it but have now got used to it, I suspect I am not the only one. 😁

Yup, that animation is... well... sad, to put it mildly.
Fortunately, whenever I play my shovel knight templar, I spend pretty much all of the fight staring at the skill bar to keep track of DoTs and buffs, because pretty much none of my skills have a matching duration, so I do not notice the awful thing my character is doing to his spine.

My main is pure DD and only really does PVE these days, the other Templar is more geared towards PVP, I leveled her in the below 50 campaign and she hasn't really done much PVE at all.

Consequently she has a limited amount of skill points to play with because there is always something I would rather do than chase down Skyshards for her! She has a good knowledge of healing and my plan has always been to go full heal with her, however for the time being she is definitely the weaker sister of my main but totally capable of completing the current event dailies.

She also wears my main's cast offs from over the years, my god she's wearing some really weird stuff atm, millions in the bank, too lazy to equip her properly!

In order of enjoyment to play, my main Templar, my Sorc, my Warden(my main PVP-er) and then my second Templar.

My Sorc was my original main until I discovered how easy Templar was, way back when! She is still my only Grandmaster Crafter and does all my decorating, also a bit of a standing joke in guild fun run trials, as she actually does more damage than my Templar BUT I am incredibly lazy and it takes more concentration to play her! 😏

I've already expressed my frustration with the animation. It's dumb. And completely killed what it felt like to use Jabs over the last 8 years. I expect that you won't find many expressing disappointment with it because most have already done so multiple times and either given up playing a Templar or left the game. I've moved on to RDR2 myself. A poll was done recently and it overwhelmingly showed that most Templars want the original animation back.

My templars just do writs these days, if i really have to take my old main out to do scrying etc i have bloodthirst dual wield to do the job its satisfactory without the jab weirdness. And im really enjoying other classes i have ignored for a few years.

While I don't believe you don't notice it at this point, it's god awful. I too have just gotten use to it and I almost never do damage with my Templar as it's my healer. I only use it when I go survey and treasure map farming once a week.

Former Templar main. I started considering leaving the game as soon as the U35 combat preview was released. The moment I saw the jab animation, I knew it was over. Canceled my sub and haven’t logged in once since before U35 hit. They butchered the class and then rubbed salt in the wounds with this ridiculous vampire shovel animation. Come here sometimes to see if anything is changing, but of course it isn’t.

I got on the test server forums and joined the chorus of 'what are you doing to jabs!' for the first few release notes when U35 hit the test server. After a couple patches went by and we got no word I realized we just weren't. So I canceled my sub as well. Haven't played the game since U35 went live.

I hope that even in their silence they realize the controversy they've caused. But I fear if we ever do get a fix it will just appear randomly. I figure I'll check in on the forums until U38 (presumably the next big expansion) to see if they make changes by then. But i don't have my hopes up.

I think Jabs, and templars are ruined by making their spamable animation use a vampires staff, and i just don't think the dev's will do anything about it.

That's awesome, thank you! I've been building a templar tank, but I'm really missing the dps from my dk main. I know it's a trade off for the defense, but I like to smash!

what's the point in keep complaining about jabs?

The animation is crap, the nerfs are bad, we know that, zos know that, nothing will change.

While I dont hate the animation you are sadly enough right. They wont do anything regarding the big changes the players dont like.
I love the burning Light change for example but I get why people dont.

The thing I strongly disagree with is the way ZOS is taking this game since Ive been here since beta days... but there are other games to play

Yes, now that is a proper kick in the teeth that my companion still uses the old animation, while I’m at it, most of the companion skills look better than mine, Isobel’s ultimate for example is awesome!

There has been consistent discussion and criticism of the way they went about changing jabs. The least the dev's could do is let their playerbase know if they are satisfied with the state of the skill or if they are planning additional updates so we aren't all left in limbo.

I dont know why they havent
Could it be that no one over there knows whats going on?
Have to say thats the impression Im getting

Sad that after such a good run it has come to this
Unless they get serious about addressing the issues I fear ESO is not long for this world
Chances are that this modulation of the player based is intentional though..
Knowing that theres a new mmo ip in house being developed its pretty obvious ESO is taking a back seat.
Sad to say but whatever that new IP is will be dogged by ZOS support track record (I promise you)

As much as i disagree with U35 not just the new jabs animation and the even more heinous damage nerf that cane to jabs/sweeps and templar class as a whole, there is almost no point in complaining. [snip]

This year has by far been the worst year in the almost 10year history of ESO. As a parent i do not like to advocate for staff terminations, especially how i am a customer looking from the outside in. But i dont advocate for them except in rare circumstances because im not one to get in the way of another man’s meal or his family’s for that matter.
But i think it is fair to say some people should be given clear expectations of them for the future.
One of the reasons the community has been upset so much this year is not just the bad launch and horrendous updates, but also the response of the devs in regard to the community feedback concerning all the disappointment this year.

    [snip]

I’ll give credit where its certainly due:
@ZOS_Kevin , not kissing your butt dude, but you have been the greatest breath of fresh air to the forum sense its inception, keep doing what you do. We certainly need more communication from ZOS, even if its something as basic as:
“hey guys, for this month we got nothing new regarding the server update for pc eu, last we spoke to the supplier it would be x months till new servers are delivered, we will keep updating you on a monthly basis, thanks for understanding in advance”
Something as simple as that would go such a long way.

As much a zos needs more and better communication, ZOS also needs to clampdown on what is coming out to the public comms-wise as well. [snip]
ESO is one of the greatest games ever made, the criticism the devs and ZOS gets should not be taken as hate or trolls but rather should be taken as concern of a community that loves and has so much passion for what you guys have created that we don't want to see it destroyed.

    Well said!

I know if I acted in a similar vein at my workplace, I would have been let go long ago.

I really can't speak as to why ZOS seemingly does not listen to feedback, but it's costing a loss in player base and money. I recently came back and jumped on my templar first, what an amazing disappointment. The damage loss, the animation for jabs just being and the overall nerfs have made my "hero" character feel like a second rate loser. Oddly, I don't see many templars DPSing in dungeons either. Lots of dragon knights though.

I would have quit the game over Templar changes, if I didn't have friends and a guild to look after. As it is, I miss my main (Templar) terribly, as I can't stand dpsing on him anymore... I loathe the new jabs animation more than anything in eso. So foolish looking and weak feeling. I have to play my sorcerer, whom I love playing, but knowing I'm playing him because I have to due to my main is butchered sours it greatly.
