Do you use potions?

Hi everyone, my last poll (do you use food/drink) had a clear answer. 69% said allways, 19% said most of the time.
https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/621578/do-you-use-food-drink-buff/p1
Now we continue with potions. Do you use them, and if so, how often?
I use them on cooldown in trials and in vet content, but on demand in other content.
And so the Elder Scrolls foretold. You will be shy, and I will be bold.

Just when low on resources or when I need a buff that the class doesn't normally have access to (for example major prophecy for a necromancer). Don't usually need them outside of vet content though.

When playing DPS in PVE I use them whenever they're off cooldown, my potions give access to buffs I would otherwise have to slot an ability for. If I am not using parse pots I'm using them as a source of minor heroism which increases dps considerably on some of my builds.

When playing tank I use them very sparingly.

On my NB I'll sometimes pop them as I exit stealth for a dps/recovery boon.

Just a sign of me not being an "endgame" player in MMOs - the whole concept of constantly running a potion buff just never occurs to me. They've always, in every game I've played, been an "emergency heal" button.

(I never remember to use drugs aside from stimpak/Rad-x/Rad-away in Fallout; I always end my JRPGs with piles of 'these will be useful someday!' consumables in my inventory; only ever used Health/Mana potions in Path Of Exile even though they have all kinds of 'run this constantly' buff ones; etc)

edit: and yet I always pick every plant in TES/ESO, have Alchemy trained, have a huge store of ingredients... last thing I used Alchemy for in Skyrim was for leveling up. :D

Even with Oakensoul I get into situations where my girls' health and stamina need "refreshing", so I do appreciate the daily rewards of tri-pots. Combat in this game is hard for me, and no, I personally don't find overland "easy" with 999+ ping most of the time.

Always has the magic or stamina potions you get as drops from mobs slotted, use them if resource get low, has more advanced potions I use if things get serious like dying on an world boss or having problem in a dungeon or in Cyrodil.

I have the tri-stat potions on Q by default and use them frequently. In fact I have so many that I use them frivolously, like when I've had a slight fall, just to use them up.

I am trying to use my weapon power potions more. I just wish there was an easier way to switch from one potion to another than the wheel.

Not as often as the food buff which is 100%s, but potions are completely integeral to my PvP build as I run Clever Alchemist.

They're not only a return on resources and better stamina/magicka efficiency (I run tri-pots), but they're what I pop before I go into my burst for that 600+ spell and weapon damage from Clever Alchemist.

    No, i don't use potions.
Early on I found I used them so infrequently that when I actually need them I didn't remember to use them when I needed them so I ditched them to save bag space.

I don't want to spend my gold to spam them for buffs and I don't like the design. To me, potions are for when someone screws up to save them from failure not something you chug non-stop for an edge.

In my view it also creates balance challenges as it creates separation between players in both stats and experience.

If I want to have Major Sorcery and Major Prophecy I'm either giving up a bar for Oakensoul, equipping two sets with five piece bonuses that give them to me, or using up 2-3 slots on them and using 1-2 active abilities to keep them up.

Meanwhile, the person using Spell Power Pots just needs to use a pot on cooldown and the pot lasts longer than the active abilities.

I probably use potions more routinely than food or drinks, but I have no idea if I use them more often. I keep healing potions and others I think would be useful for the character in their inventory and on the quick slot wheel then use them as and when I notice I need them.

I don't do vet dungeons or trials or whatever so I've never thought about constantly spamming potions as soon as they come off cooldown, I just use them when I know I need the effect.

Totally depends on the situation and character I'm on. Overland, almost never unless on a dlc wb I'm trying to solo. Normal dungeons, maybe the final boss. Vet dungeons/trials, 100% up on all bosses. Pvp, depends on the build... some are reactive, some are proactive (using clever alchemist). Adding all that up? I don't know... 50%???? Also type of pots differ as well. Pvp with CA, vet dungeons/trial usually will use wep/spell damage. Everything else I use one of the 3.4mil crown tri-pots I have.

On my main, I have tripots and stam+weapon power+crit pots slotted, and on alt tripots, stam+power+crit and mag+power+crit pots slotted. I already have a muscle memory of pressing Q every 45 seconds, and only swap to tripots on overland and in normal difficulty content. I don't chug potions if I'm harvesting, travelling or doing writs, but if I engage some enemies, chugging it is. (I know it's a muscle memory since chugging kinda just happens without thinking about it)

The poll severely suffers from not distinguishing between types of content, and from the assumption that potions are merely used to restore resources.

I don't use potions when doing overland stuff, or only very rarely for world bosses and stuff like that, and also not very often in normal dungeons/trials.

But I use them very frequently for veteran dungeons and trials, sometimes close to 100% (also depending on the role).

And strategically in PvP - nowhere near to 100% (because you don't need a potion when playing horse simulator in Cyrodiil), but when they're important.

And I assume many are using them similarly, and several people have said so. But they tend to interpret the choices very differently, and so did I - I had no idea what to choose, and so decided go with the interpretation "harder content = bad situation".

Which means, in the end, that the poll results are somewhat meaningless. The most common use of potions will be spread over at least three options.
