That first beta is such a wonderful memory, I was so excited to get to beta test ESO.

A few things that I can remember from that - it initially had trouble loading Stonefalls - then things worked fine, it was the first larger scale beta test, it was under NDA, and I completely filled up on Weaver's Meat Sticks playing all day.

The end of the beta was a nude dance party in Ebonheart. Probably because by the time beta was done, that's where most characters reached, and the wayshrine was in the middle of the town.

One or two items of well-fitted meant unlimited sprint. Nightblade siphon abilities were very powerful. I had absolutely no clue what I was doing and was using dropped gear exclusively. Some bosses refused to spawn even after an hour.

The entire screen had a watermark of my e-mail address, I think. Aside from bug reports, I didn't take any screenshots, and the earliest screenshots I have are from February, 2014. Going by those, it is amazing to see how far the game has come since then.

There were trolls in zone chat, among the worst I have seen in all these 9 years of playing ESO. I think some of them managed to get in even the November test, and because they were essentially playing the game for free at the time, had nothing to lose by spamming really nasty stuff. It was worse during the later tests, especially the open betas.

Deshaan was explorable. Only part of it though, you could go right through the gate into the zone and see Quarantine Serk along with the different style of mushrooms. No loading screen, but no mobs, mats, NPCs or anything else really. Eventually you hit a point where the map kinda just ended and ran off a steep cliff. /stuck was very important for those moments.

I think part of The Rift was also explorable (but was like the area of Deshaan - empty of life), and while I never played on the DC side, Stormhaven may have been the same way.

Initial scene in Coldharbour made my computer at the time chug - though I was ambitious and set the graphics settings on high (I could run Crysis on Ultra with a smooth 20 frames per second which was good enough for me at the time). It was at that moment that I knew that I needed a new PC, and I had an upgrade ready to go by March. 8 years later I would get another new PC, and now "performance issues" only manifest as FPS dips down to 55.

Ohhh the memories!! I stil remember how much I loved and was amazed at ESO back in the beta days / early access!! Was a completely different experience from all other MMOs back in the day. Still a few more months for my badge but I'm right there with the feelings!

I also was there in that dance party in the picture! I'm that Breton sorc behind the naked ginger chick right in the middle of the picture. I wasn't naked :p because I was wearing the back-then bloodthorn disguise which was in the primal style and it felt so badass back the  Got a ton more of pictures from that day
