Companion Inventory

I'm sure this has been mentioned, but why cant companions carry some of their own items instead of the items eating up our inventory slots? It by no means needs to be a huge amount, but maybe 2-3 of each slot, so they can carry different weapons and items instead of storing them.

it would be nice if the equipment tab on the companion menu was actual like a separate storage of a kind lol

but i dont see this happening because for all intents and purposes the game only sees the companion as a pet, no different than a warden bear, this is just a pet you can actually interact with and talks to you lol

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

That is a good point. I did not consider how the game reads the companion. I figured since we can equip items that maybe they can hold an extra item fro each category, so they can carry their own items. They need to start carrying their weight. lol

i personally only give each companion 1 set of items, and then if i save a few alternative weapons that are purples and OK trait in the bank if i ever wanted to switch them, to minimize the impact of the gear, and i delete or sell the rest of it

I very much want companions to be able to carry a few bits of their own gear. I have Mirri well set to run as a tank or ranged dps. All I need to is change her skills (easy with only 5) and swap her S&B for an ice staff. The problem is the micromanagement required to keep track of where her S&B / ice staff are as I move among differing characters. It requires taking her weapon(s), calling the banker, stowing her old weapon in the bank, drawing out her new weapon, calling up the companion again and giving her the new weapon. Anything less results in one of her weapons being in the inventory of the wrong character when I want to swap her roles again. Been asking for this since companions were introduced.

They wont do this for 1 simple reason, the sales of inventory space. They make insane amounts of money just selling crown items that allow for more inventory space. Conversation over lol

But of course I think this would be a great addition and would love to see it but I wouldnt hold my breathe.

Inventory space is not the problem. Managing the location of a companion's alternate gear when moving from alt to alt vs the bank is the problem. If the companion carries her own alternate set, you never need to worry about where her gear is regardless of which character you're on.

Avoids the following: Get old gear off companion and stow her. Call out banker, put old gear in banker and get new gear out, stow banker. Call out companion to issue new gear.

A companion who carries their own alt gear changes all that to one transaction with the companion nor any question as to where her gear is for the next change - which may be with a different character.

Its because they want you to subscribe.
    Resistance is futile.

I have one character dedicated as squire of my (first 2, now 4) Companions who has all kinds of armor and weapons.
Any big swaps of gear are handled this way.

I have some weapons on main two characters so I can change Bastian between S&B and Ice staff, and for a while also for Mirri the choice between Dual Wield and Ice staff.
With meanwhile 4 Companions and likely more to come I see the inventory burden of my squire character decrease, simply because changing Companions is fast without the need of reloading characters during playing.

=> only the weapons remain for me as issue, which could be solved by giving Companions two bars like we have, and where you can also swap the abilities.
Which is kind of similar to pets having two morphs.

We should have fought for our village and not have backed down, with our tail between our legs. Now my home village is in shambles, the houses burning, the invaders feasting.I swear every day to Shor that after Molag Bal has been defeated, I will hunt down the invaders and restore peace in Bleakrock and drink my mead with my friends at the market place".PC-EU
