So, for the second time, in my exploration and PVeing, my Magicka character got bit and turned into a werewolf. Something I was Not looking to do. But, since it happened, I went through the ritual and became the full fledged werewolf. However, this class does not advance like the Vampire class. A Vampire advances just from gaining XP. Don't even need a skill on your bar. I put the WW ultimate on my bar, just for the fun of it, and thought this would start leveling as well. It does Not. I only gained any XP in the WW class by fighting in WW form. Otherwise, nothing happens.

Why is there this difference in how two similar skillsets perform?

its based on kills while in werewolf form.
good way to cheese the first 3 levels is practice your infinite WW form in the quest area before leaving then go to an XP grinding location or any big delve with tons of small adds and just go ham and grind out rank 10.
    far easier than vampire

If I remember correctly, WW advances through number of kills in WW form. It is not the XP you get in WW form, but rather how many mobs you killed while transformed. So the fastest way to level up WW form ultimate is to find a place that has a lot of weak enemies that respawn fast. Some Public dungeon for example.

You can get the WW line to 10 in about hour running in circle killing mobs in The Hunting Grounds where you don't run out of WW form timer. Suggest having some extra skill points to unlock skills & passives. Only number of kills in WW form matter. There are far better places mobwise but staying in WW form can be a challenge.

I maxed the WW in the quest area :) Back then uptime was a issue and this was not in the quest area a problem

I choose a low level delve, which allowed for a circular route, and then went round and round, killing and eating.

There's several skill lines in ESO which have their own rules for levelling, like the various guild skill lines, the Soul Magic one, Psijic Order and so on. I think the reason for that is to make it more thematic and encourage players to actually play those areas of the game or use those skills.

Werewolves and vampires have always been different in TES, and that includes the fact that being a vampire is a constant, all the time thing whereas being a werewolf only has a temporary effect which, at least in some of the games, is under your control. (I'm not sure about all of them.) I think one of the NPCs in Skyrim literally says being a werewolf doesn't mean anything unless you want it to.

So changing into the WW form using the ultimate is the equivalent of putting a class skill on your bar or wearing a specific armour weight - it's the experience of being a WW and therefore XP gained while doing it counts towards that skill line. Whereas vampires are always vampires so anything they do is experience of being a vampire.

Mudcrabs in FG1 from the crab boss. Though it really doesn't take much effort to level a werewolf

i to used the infinite duration area for lvl10 but these days isn't as required since lvl3 is usually enough for decent uptime :)
