This one will vote yes if it’s sponsored by a non slave-owning Dunmer House, such as Hlaalu (although this one is not sure - maybe they all support slavery at the time ESO is set?!?!).

Can you explain what this means? Or link to this other post?

I can imagine a few different ways guar racing could be introduced but in terms of game mechanics they're quite different and I don't want to vote without knowing what it is I'm actually voting on. What I imagine when I hear 'guar racing' might be very different from what you imagine.

Guar are meant to roam free and graze and do as they please without being forced to run in barbaric races, and given that this hypothetical race would be sponsored by those who are quite content with physically abusing lizards, I don't think I could lend it my support in any capacity.

While the idea sounds amusing, I'm hesitant to take part in any event hosted by a house of slavers. Perhaps different members of the pact would make better hosts, such as the nords of eastern skyrim. The drinks would definitely be better.

Since the mounts are basically skins, and the player/character has the riding skills, how would this even work?

I use a character that has maxed out the riding skills as well as use the cp points to max the mount speed, get the right mundus stone, etc.

You use a character has maxed out the riding skills as well as use the cp points to max the mount speed, get the right mundus stone, etc.

The speed will be the same. How can you race, I'll guess you mean on a racing course, on equal ground, with everything being exactly the same for every "racer"?

Why would they use perfectly good guar? I'm an unofficial Guar Rights Activist. Guarctivist. Guar is love, guar is life.

I would think Khajiiti war criminals/unruly slaves running from nix hounds or people afflicted by the Maulborn plague would be a better sight to see! And much more mermane!

I can see it working. Think about it like Mario Kart - only instead of different characters having different stats, the mounts have different stats. Before the race you pick which mount you want.

That could be the base level - like NoCP. Available to everyone.

Then, if you wanted to make it more of a thing, you could incorporate antiquities and scry for something like ...saddles? Different saddles give different bonuses, so it would encourage trading and farming.

Could be rent a special guar for races out. Then can have bers on winners. We are rated M game and there is already frog races.

On reflection, this one thinks we should have tourneys (Breton organised, players can enter as knights aspirants) instead. There’s a tourney set up already in High Isle.

I went to a senche race hosted by Khajiit RPers several years ago where participants raced around a makeshift track through Abah’s landing, some of the players used kollopi essence to appear invisible since the senche were there representing themselves in the race. Or the RP riders were related to their senche mounts or associated in some quid pro quo deal with the senche to win the pot.

I think a Dres hosted race wouldn’t have the same feel, but I like the idea of racing in game

If I remember well, back when ESO was new, horse racing was one of the features (along with card / tavern games) they wanted to implement in the game, but it never came to it. We got the card game now finally, so maybe one of the coming chapters?

I'd love to see some House Dres content, Elder Scrolls is a pretty harsh setting in many ways and I think it's a good thing when games dare to depict more gritty / nasty themes.
Though they're definitely not the only Dunmer who still practice slavery, the Tales of Tribute quests feature some examples of it.

If players are in game to do something other than play the game, what are they doing? There are plenty of other games that aren't focused on combat and competition. ESO used to put combat, mechanics and performance as a top priority. They should continue to do that going forward because there are plenty of other games out there that cater to RP'rs and players that aren't interested in combat or competition.

So all the RPers, questers, crafters and home decorators (just off the top of my head) together with ToT players, those who like non-competitive combat and just general The Elder Scrolls enjoyers should play another game because someone only deems "combat and competition" a worthy activity?
I'd say it seems more reasonable for that someone to look for a game with a more narrow focus instead

Agreed. I hate the combat in this game. So not fun. In fact, I hate combat as a metric for advancement in any game.

Yeah yeah - I AM an outlier. I like me that way.
