I understand and agree with the lore reasons we can't change their face, but I don't really see why they can't wear a helmet.

ZOS: We want immersion! here's constant, average and borderline boring RP features added as main expansion features.
Also ZOS: enjoy 30 of the same companions running around the city.

Completely asinine that we can't use helmets on companions.

Yes, and their reasoning behind is absolutely ludicrous in my opinion. It was something about how the character was important and shouldn't be hidden. Like what? My characters are still very much themselves even if they wear a helmet to protect their head, or put on a hood to protect themselves against the rain and whatnot. The aren't transformed into a different character with different personality, voice etc if they put on a hat.

Like Isobel is all about being a knight, but what, she can't and/or won't wear a helmet with her knight armour to protect her noggin?
[Lie] Of course! I don't even worship Daedra!

I'd vote for the missing option - I'm really not bothered either way.

Fair, though the polls aren't compulsory the option to not vote is always a thing. I'll be sure to try and include a "No opinion" result in the future- if a mod would like to add that option and reset the poll (if able) that would be fantastic and may give more accurate results @ZOS_Icy

Helmets would be fine but what I'd really like is to be able to assign them circlets and hats.

I am fine with the Companions sans helmets. People hide helmets anyway.

I don't mind the idea that we aren't going to hide their faces but I don't see a reason why we couldn't give them an open face helmet or hood or something.

I personally dislike some of the companions and would be stuffing them in full body armor so I wouldn't need to see them again so I could pretend they were someone else more easily.

Needless to say, that potentially runs against developer intent because they may like their character that they made and not want me to stuff them in armor and pretend they are someone/something else. Plus, it might put a damper on companions selling future content as if I'm putting them in a full suit of armor I'll be less interested in changing them for visual purposes. It also might shift the content design as you'd need to make them attractive enough that I wouldn't want to be shoving them in a suit of armor.

    I voted "no".

I always hide my own helmet. I would do same for companions.

So, I would agree on companions getting helmets only if I can hide it for them too. Otherwise, please no.

I personally don't like helmets, but it never made sense that companions can't wear helmets. No one's altering their looks after all. Things that don't make sense in ESO:

    1. We can't hide shoulders/tassets.
    2. Companions can't wear helmets.

I feel these are things that the community really want, that should be fairly trivial and inconsequential for ZOS to give us, no?

Just changing their hairstyle through collections would be enough to make cities more versatile. Helmets as an option would be nice for some styles as well.

Yes please, I love Helmet designs and have several hats that I would love to share with my companions.

I don't mind that we can't edit their faces (except the scrawny eyebrows of isobel.....those ....those haunt me....and i would love if I could give her some strong ones, but allas I geuss its part of her personality that she likes 90's/beginning 2000 make up styles, which are comming back up so look at her following trends, didnt know she was that trendy (also no hard feelings to those who have thin eyebrows irl)) but let me atleast give them a full armor look.

I'd like the option to give them a helmet. I usually keep hats hidden on all my characters, but put one on if I think it's appropriate - for example when my DK tank is actually tanking it would look weird for her to be wearing full plate mail and no helm. The same goes for companions.

I gave Isobel some beautiful Breton heavy knight's armor, dyed and polished and truly a sight for a newly dubbed knight.

But she can't wear a knight's helmet because reasons.

I dont see any reason why companions cant wear helms. I love the outfit system in this game, its one of my favorite things to do. Me and my companion are always decked out in the latest fashion. I would so love to pop a helm on Ember just for a little extra flare. Everywhere you go you see the same Ember face, it would be much more immersive if that face was sometimes covered up with a helm.

What is zos' position on this topic?

I agree, we might not be able to change their faces but allowing them to wear helmets would help with immersion and roleplay a lot

I came down on the side of wearing hats. I can see the point of not hiding their faces, but the simple solution is too restrictive.

I don’t expect a change, because the filtering of what does or doesn’t hide the face is not easy to achieve.

Turn on nameplates. Then you can see the word "companion" quickly and easily.

I have nameplates on, but I notice the companions by their look before I even check the nameplate.
