Account-wide quest as an option - Suggestion

Hi,

It is very similar to the class change token, but it's something I thought about in the other thread and I think it deserves its own topic. I will try to detail my idea as much as I can.

Two types of players
Right now, there are two types of players. The casual or completionism players who don't play often or who focus only on one character to complete everything (like myself). And there are the players who play a lot of different alts to unlock a lot of stuffs faster and have a lot of playtimes.

The problem occurring for the first type of player - My own example
I have one main character level 46 and I started an alt which is lvl 10. Both are playing a similar way. One is a stamina Templar (heavy weapon - Imperial) and the other is a stamina Warden (stealthy Bosmer). Both are with AD faction. I love trying different way of playing, but I don't like the fact that I need to waste my time completing all the quests, all the research, all the motifs, etc. again, again and again. Like I know the story at this point... Can I just get rid of it plz!

I want to try a magicka build at one point, but there is no way I start all over again.

The solution
The solution that came to my mind could be easily implemented. No class change...
What if ESO devs allow us to pay a small fee to link a character to another?

For example, I could decide to link character B (lvl 10) to character A (lvl 46).
Character B would lose every progress but inventory and stats/skills at this point. Everything would be linked to the main character. It would be the same if you link your higher lvl character to your smaller lvl character. You would lose everything on the higher level character, but at this point, I think ESO should only allow to link from lower character to higher.

Summary
1. You link your lower level character to a higher one.
2. Your higher character become the main character which have all achievements, research, motifs etc.
3. Your lower character only keep the stats/skills and inventory
4. All your character can unlock stuffs account-wide for those characters.

I think this solution would be ideal for multiple reasons.
1. You would be able to play different ways with your friends
2. Keep all unlocks/achievements
3. Not having to replay all quests again. You login with character B, it will put you back where you left with character A. Only focus on what you want to do at this moment. Continue your PVE adventure or join your friends in PVP.
4. Only thing you need to do is levelling up both characters.

I revised my idea suggesting to have an option (paid or whatever way) to have account-wide quest completion. I think it would fix most of my problem having limited time to play and trying to achieve all quests with both of my character. Leveling is ok, but people with limited time should be able to skip all quests already done and only focus about new stuffs to do.

Right now I have one Templar and one Warden. Not very far and I will try to speed run my new Warden to reach the same level as my Templar. If I could skip quests, I would keep both character, but right now I know I will need to delete one, because I can’t focus on two characters doing the exact same thing.

Solution A: Allow to pay for a way to have account wide quests.
Solution B: Account wide quests for everyone, but allow people to replay quests for rewards

What do you guys think?

You don't need to re-unlock motifs. Once you learn them on one character, they become usable for the account in the outfit station, which the only reason you'd have to learn them again would be for master writs, but you're probably not getting any of those yet, so its not important.

As for trying new builds and such, you dont have to reroll a whole new character to try a magicka build. You can just respecc your character at a shrine in one of the major capital cities. Otherwise if its a class you don't have, then yeah you'd have to make a new character. Neither of your characters are max level so you can still try magicka out now. You can change your build at any given time, level isn't an indicator of anything. Hell I'm training up dualwield and sword/shield rn on my main magsorc whos got every other skill line maxed (still need bow).

Wouldn't appeal to me at all, but as long as it's optional no problem. I have alts - lots of them - so I always have someone set up for each class (except necro) and each role.

You only really need to know motiffs and traits on one character. Achievements and champion points are already account-wide, and as for using entirely different builds on the fly, you already have the armory station available to you.

Oh, I know what you mean. Yes it's showing in my collection, but I can't craft something I don't have unlocked on this character. But I can change the skin of the item.
    I don't understand.
For people like me who like to focus on one thing, like questing or dungeon, it's very annoying to replay everything with alt. This idea is that instead of a class change token where you change class of your character, you would be able to get multiple alts linked to one main character. For example, you do quest A with Character A and leave. When you play Character B next time, you will start where you left at Quest B.

Instead of doing Quest A for Character A, B, C, D, etc. Just very annoying.

A class change token is good for people who want to change class, because they don't like their current build. However, my solution would be good for people who want to play different style and build at the same time, but without having to do everything again from scratch.

I see where you are coming from at level 46, but once you get into CP range and play a bit more you will see the benefits of being able to repeat content on other chars, from farming gear, doing multiple daily quests and going back to quest bound areas to collect lore books you missed.

Account wide achievements has made completionism so much easier.

From someone with full 18 chars on their account, I can say I only aim to complete quest on my main, i have gone back and repeated some on alts to help a friend through them or ones I found especially entertaining. The best way I find to level up and learn a new class is in Area's and Dungeons.

The best way to do this now is to use the armory station, that way you can have one slot that is your Stam build and the other that is your Mag one. Save the stam one first, then load the blank one that will reset all everything for free, then save over the blank one once you have applied your skills and attributes.

I have a stable of characters. Four of them have done the full original base game stuff..... Cadwells, Mages Guild, Fighters Guild etc etc.

All of them are certified as crafters, great for dailies(free mats and gold) and for the Anniversary Event where crafting dailies all give reward boxes!

I've leveled some in below 50 PVP, others have leveled by taking part in various different game activities. During High Isle Event I used many of them each day to do the Dailies for double drops and event coffers..... saving myself the hassle of looking for quest shares to get extra rewards.

Personally I would hate your idea and if you are only lvl 46 then surely you must have so much content still untried? As a newer player, I'm presuming here because of your level, you may not have ESO+, my point being the world is huge and there are so many ways to level without rigid storyline repeating!

I'm actually thinking about doing the base game story again, it has been so long since I did it. Happy travels in Tamriel! 💕

Or so much harder for those players whose idea of completionism is to do everything on one character, or even on more than one character. For example, someone who wanted to complete Master Angler on all their characters used to be able to do so, now that simply isn't possible.

I personally don't want this at all and wouldn't use it, but I wouldn't care if it was implemented as long as it was optional and stayed in the cash shop rather than affecting accounts that have no desire for it. Account wide achievements was such an awful change for those of us who liked cultivating characters separately by using the achievement journal as a tracking system/character journal, and I'd really hate to have what individual progression is left wiped out completely.

Have a full roster of characters on one account, nine on the other. Multiple maxed crafters as far as traits researched goes, but only my main crafter knows all the motifs and recipes. Why would I need to have all the "not my main crafter" make gear? If I want an alt to have a specific style, my crafter makes it and banks it; the alt picks it up and uses it.

It is already confusing enough with AWA; now my new alt is still in cold harbor pjs and she's a master crafter, gets all the idle comments from npcs about things she hasn't done yet. Linking characters to share experience would be even worse. New chapter and new DLC content can be rather problematic for new characters.

    I updated my main post.

I also understand the point of view of all of you.

    It’s something like

View 1: Character has his own life (RP)
View 2: One player want to do stuffs with multiple characters (Not RP).

My opinion is allowing something like this would shorten the time many players decide to play the game. It wouldn't be healthy for the game. THe game needs new content, players repeating that content and players doing a variety of content for the long term well being of the game.

Account-wide quest completion is not workable. Skill points are granted via each zone's main quest line and the game's main quest. That alone prevents such a feature from being possible.

If you do not want to do the quests on alts then do not do the quests. If you want the skill points but want to level faster, run through the quests that grant skill points and skip the rest. When you get as many as you feel comfortable with grind the rest of your XP.

and this is based on the revised OP.

The only Account wide quest they should do is Cadwell's silver and gold. It should be optional at the minimum and not auto-added to your journal. It's not necessary anymore and bugs the daylights out of my OCD.
