Next year's Companions - speculation, and what would you like to see?

I'd like a new combat feature - skill line, class, race, whatever, I really don't mind.

I'd rather zos not spend time on more glorified combat pets for solo players. There's 4 already. I am an achievement collector and hate the grind to get their achievements before they get stowed away forever and would rather not have to do it again. Thanks

I know this is a long way out, but when (maybe even if) we return to Elsweyr for the cities of Torval and Corinthe and the Tenmar jungles, I'd love to see an Alfiq and a Senche Raht as companions. The quests alongside Caska and Sereyne sold me on them as companions long before companions were a thing

YES. Although, this one would prefer Clanmother Tadali instead of Sereyne. A bit more reliable with spellcasting, you know ;)

    None.

ESO doesn't need any more companions.

Lawfully Good male Orc Necromancer (with stamina-like skills version of necro) who has a dark past but trying to change things for the better. I'd love to see kind of contrast and how writers would do it. It's too easy to make a mischievous/kinda mean character that is a necromancer, so let's challenge ESO writers a little bit B)

Dunno about a Warden, except I'd love to have a male bosmer or argonian. This way we finish by having 3 male/3 female companions.

EDIT: We could also get a dremora companion, maybe? Lyranth is not a (totally) evil character and she helps the Vestige, so why not?

I hope the necromancer will not be some walking evil necromancer stereotype. Necromancy is a quite interesting type of magic in Elder Scrolls that includes a variety of uses and spells that is not just "I raise an army of undead".

I hope they are evil stereotype mostly because I want a companion that doesn't care about bounties or justice activities at all, or is maybe even encouraged by them.

The ideal solution would be for us to be able to have 2 or more companions join us at the same time :)

When, because of the event, I did with one of my characters the quest to get Isobel, directly after picking up Ember and naturally Ember at my side, I had several fights with both companions in one group.

It felt real nice and good :)

They can be fine with those things without being a walking stereotype.

Like a shadowscale necromancer would be fine or even approve of murdering people for Sithis, but not because muahaha murder and raising the dead is fun and also power! But instead have it be more philosophical and focus on their views of the cycle of life/death, change and chaos.

My guess is an argonian necromancer and a bosmer warden, both likely males. Since these would complete the classes, I wonder if they will repeat them to include the rest of the races in the following years.

If we must have someone murderous, Sammy would like to have the argonian that appeared during Isobel’s personal quest at Betnikh. The way he ponders how to kill various dark elves is hilarious and Sammy will bring him along to Telvanni towns and make a day (or two, or three and four) of killing slavers and slave owners.

Yes, I believe ZOS will repeat the classes to include the rest of the races. At this time, we have 4 companions, each a different race, and all 4 base game classes covered.

For the next 3 years, I think that ZOS will release 2 new companions per year, one of each of the not covered races (Argonian, High Elf, Orc, Nord, Redguard, Wood Elf).

Probably give us a Necromancer, Warden, and then repeat the 4 base game classes (Dragonknight, Nightblade, Sorcerer, Templar).

And some of these new 6 companions will be male, and some will be female.

Thanks to the OP for starting this thread. I doubt if ZOS has decided on the specifics of all this (which race will be which sex will be which class will be honorable or dishonorable ...), so folks giving their preferences is good.

We have 2 human, 1 mer and 1 bestman companion now.
My tip is one elf (wood or high) and one beastmen (probably argonian).

I would like bosmer warden and argonian necromancer, but I wouldn't exclude "classic ESO" arrogant altmer necromancer and argonian warden.

Sadrith Mora, place, where I earned my "Murderer" achievement. I still find amusing, that it was argonian guards at Shadowfen, who punished me for killing bunch of Telvanni slavers.

Yagrum Bagarn would be a great one as well. Just throwing it out there.

Is he on Nirn currently? Or is he still stuck in some Daedric dimension?

I'm fairly certain he's on nirn, otherwise he would have had to spend the entire second era and all of this third era in oblivion and contract the blight some other time after the events of ESO.

Also, I'm warming up to the idea of a female orc companion. One who left Wrothgar for different lands, but is no slouch. Someone like Snarzikha in Seyda Neen. Orcs, like argonians and khajiit, have a very different point of view.

I am thinking we will have a Falmer companion. It does not break lore or TES history since Falmer are in TES games and a companion does not need to be a playable race.

Definitely at least one should be male. Like we got plenty of females playing and those guys who just want a bro to hang out along with other demographics who would approve of a male companion.

A Redguard necromancer would be funny, but I doubt it'd happen. A vampire companion would be nice, especially if they got a few vampire skills at their disposal. What I'd really like is a skeleton wearing armor (not naked or just with a few rags) with a dark sense of humor. Yeah, I know, not going to happen.

Time passes differently in Oblivion (think of some inhabitants of the Deadlands who think they just stranded there a few weeks ago, while meanwhile on Nirn 600 years have passed), so it's entirely possible to spend a whole era or longer there without even realizing.

Also, the Blight began when Dagoth Ur awoke again, which is in 882 in the 2nd era (ESO takes place in 582). Although, in the beginning, the Blight storms rarely affected more than the direct surroundings of Red Mountain. It wasn't until 427 in the 3rd era that the Blight also reached more remote settlements.

Indeed, this is because this was when the Ghostfence and the powers of the Tribunal were beginning to fail. The reawakening of Dagoth Ur meant that he was able to keep them out of the Heart chamber since 2E 882, so they could not renew their powers, which began slowly to wane: and the great disaster came in 3E 417, when Keening and Sunder were lost as the Tribunal tried and failed to regain access to the Heart, Almalexia and Sotha Sil themselves being briefly captured by Dagoth Ur and rescued by Vivec. The Tribunal itself may be seen to have been broken by this: Sotha Sil withdrew to his Clockwork realm, and Almalexia to Mournhold (attempting to break into Clockwork City via Bamz-Amschend), leaving Vivec to maintain the Ghostfence alone, and his efforts were no longer sufficient - blighted beasts could tunnel under, blighted cliff racers could fly over the fence, the tunnels from Kogoruhn provided an outlet for corprus stalkers, and the winds themselves carried the Blight to an increasingly large area of Vvardenfell. Only the arrival of the Nerevarine saved the situation.

I really like the idea which came up in a previous topic of an argonian warden who is a bit older and more experienced, he's got a dark sense of humour, maybe slightly cynical, definitely a bit sarcastic but in a quiet, deadpan way. He refuses to be openly worried about anything that's happening. I think he'd be an interesting character to have around.

I also agree that a companion who approves of being in the Dark Brotherhood, and at least doesn't mind random murder, would be a good addition for less ethical characters. I'd say that's a logical choice for a necromancer, but that might just be because my necromancer is also my assassin character.

I had an idea a while ago for an altmer necromancer who is not from a well-off or important family but absolutely believes she is entitled to whatever she wants to achieve in a way only an altmer could, and who firmly believes the ends will always justify her means no matter what they are (hence the necromancy). I gave up on the idea because her personality wouldn't come across in the story and I didn't want to role-play with her (I'd only introduce a character like that to an RP group I know well and only with prior permission) but I think she could be an...interesting companion. The problem might be I think most players want to like their companions, but I think she could be an amusing person to have around for the right characters/players.

As long as the companions are Humanoid I don't really care. Now if they want to give us some animal companions I would absolutely love that and would use them even if they were mechanically really bad because I love combat pets.
