Are you happy with the DLC as event reward at 100%?

Getting this ranting thread two years in a row, huh? Do we really need another huge house that we can't even fully decorate due to the current limits? Or would you rather prefer that the final reward be locked behind two paywalls?

Either way, I think the Q4 DLC should be included with the Chapter next yerar, at least this way you're actually sold the full story arc, especially with the way all chapters end in a cliffhanger. I guess the perma-subbed ESO+ players would still complain lol.

The 4th qtr story DLCs should be free with the purchase of the chapter anyway as it concludes the year long event. Otherwise you are paying $40 for an incomplete main story.

I haven’t bought high isle as of yet, but the “free” dlc may encourage me to do so.

    1. ESO+ members will get new 4 dungeons and small DLC zone this year.
    2. Active players who are buying new chapter regularly will get small DLC zone.

What a suprise, that some ESO+ members want rewards for ESO+ members only. No one else deserve any reward than them.

It wouldn't even have to be a huge one. A medium house in high isle by the main city would appeal to a lot of people. I've seen numerous forums asking for it from players at all levels and styles of play. It would encourage people to spend time in the zone as well the same way that snugpod did for ghat. The drops for this are providing furnishings plans as well so it would be appropriate. On top of that I will refer to my earlier suggestion. Give the dlc to everyone, give the house or mount for eso+ and then offer a heavy discount on a 1 month sub for ESO+ like $5 for a month during the event. That way players have the option to try everything, get everything for cheap and then if they don't want to continue well they still have the dlc and other reward. Everyone wins. It's not out of the question, they do free weeks all the time and it would be at least mostly on par with the summerset year event.

Having done it on the PTS I can also tell you that you need to complete the main story in High Isle to even get access to the several quests in the epilogue of Firesong.

I could only see grinders who do not care one iota for story content to be happy with Firesong without High Isle.

Is it really the ESO+ subscribers that are selfish when they ask for a reward everyone benefits from?

I decided to let other people speak before I spoke my own mind, but honestly once again I find this reward insulting for loyal subscribers. It's a joke and I won't be doing anything to reach the goal. Not that this matters because the goal will obviously always be reached.

I already had the pathfinder achievement and according to Gina that means my contribution counts towards to the goal. Is there anything else that I can do to contribute?

Regarding the pet for ESO+ and the free content, I'm don't think it's a good idea. The ESO+ part should have been much more substantial such as a house or mount rather than a non-combat pet when most people I see in zone don't even use non-combat pets. A non-combat pet screams the least amount of effort required. The divines know I don't use those annoying little gremlins while playing.

What sort of reward would benefit everyone? Crowns?

For example the amount of crowns the DLC costs. Then people can decide if they want to buy the DLC, some cosmetics or other stuff.

ESO+ players pay for access to those dungeons and to the DLC zones
most ESO+ players probably also paid for the Chapter

I doubt that many ESO+ players mind that non-ESO+ players are getting access to that small DLC zone for free this year (yes, there are probably a few bitter, curmudgeonly, Ebenezer Scrooge types that probably are best avoided in general, but generally no.)

it seems that most ESO+ players would just like an event reward that is actually relevant to their game experience rather than being given access to something that they are already paying to have access to. I know I would.

(having all the DLC dungeons in the pool of potential Random Daily Dungeons is actually a backhanded "benefit" of ESO+. many would likely prefer to be able to opt out of having DLC dungeons in the pool while keeping their ESO+ sub.)

technically speaking, the 2 dungeon dlcs are also related to the story too, although to a much lesser extent, they generally introduce characters or "reasons" why certain content is occurring

a common example at this point is that you cannot fully unlock the lunar champion house in north elsweyr without also having some dungeon dlcs

I never liked this post-Summerset format of splitting up the main yearly update into two separate DLCs in the first place, so it's sort of like getting what you paid for with the chapter? It's not ideal but whatever; there are far worse things to complain about with ESO's pay models.

I think it's worse that every new thing they put into ESO they immediately want to cram it into a gamble crates or make it a time-limited, cash shop-only purchase.

If they gave firesong to ALL eso players I'd be more willing to contribute to this event as a subbed player.

That feels like a community event.
Community events IMO should be rewarding for the entire community, and have the entire community involved.

As it is it just feels like another chapter cash grab that only properly rewards a small part of the player base, Again.

They can call whatever they want a reward, but that doesn't make it rewarding.

. Here's a reward for reading my comment, a single pixel. You are most welcome, am I not generous?

Would be better, if Firesong DLC was never included in ESO+ membership. So event would be only way to get free access.

ZOS could do this change instead special mount for ESO+ members. It would address all critiques, yet some players would get less.
What ZOS do in this cause is pareto optimal variant.

Have to break out of this idea that ESO+ get it "free" in any case - they have paid for it with subs!

Which makes it wrong that they get no reward when non-subscribers do get something of value.

But on the other hand, who really cares? Maybe next year there will be a couple more players still visiting High Isle, because if previous chapters are anything to go by it will be deserted.

And that's what really concerns me... what are we buying "chapters" for? A short questline and a generic block of land that nobody will bother visiting in six months.

And a card game... mustn't forget the card game.

Last year, I would have said about 75%, give or take a few. Say 2/3rds to 3/4ths. Definitely the majority. That seemed to be a steady number for the last couple years. All based on in-game observations, so if ZOS deliberately drops me in places with other ESO Plus subscribers, that could make observations biased.

ZOS isn't going to give you anything unless it somehow benefits them, they aren't a charity, they are a for-profit company.

So I hate to to break the news to a lot of you, but it's not free, it's marketing, and if you think otherwise you're being very naive.

Not saying you can't enjoy or benefit from it (I hope you do), but let's be mature and not pretend it's something it isn't.

In that context, I don't think there is anything wrong with people being critical of the marketing strategy, either for or against. Those who think people shouldn't "complain" simply because it's "free" are just being silly.

Free doesn't mean you have you like it, can't be critical, or ask questions. Those things are healthy.

I'd rather they didn't do it at all then.

I get nothing of value out of it either way, and as with most of the daily log in rewards, I'd rather have nothing instead of Junk I'm not going to use.

Also this "community event" isn't even for the community.
It's just another marketing ploy to sell more copies of High Isles.

If this was a real community event that rewarded every single player regardless of High Isles ownership, I'd be happy with these rewards.

Oakensoul came in the High Isle chapter. They're giving those who own the chapter the Q4 DLC. The ring has been available since chapter release in June. It's logical that if you don't own the chapter, you won't get Oakensoul if you buy the DLC.
