I have played a few MMO's since I started back in 2003. From each MMO there was something I enjoyed even though there were a few I did not enjoy. The one thing that stands out the most was player created content. Players were able to log in to a instance creator and they were able to cycle through what they wanted it to look like. They could add NPCs and control the dialogue choices.

I think that having the option to allow players to create a small instance would be difficult because of the limit to locations to travel from but I think that overall it would be nice to have. The complaints of not enough quests or too grindy would go away if we had the option to go into this added material. It could alleviate some of the strain on the developers from having to deliver new material every few weeks. One thing I have read on the forums was people's want for more Shivering Isles quests or detail. This could be something the players themselves come up with.

I don't think this is possible to accomplish in an MMO, t opens too many opportunities for exploits. Can you imagine botters not having to look for an area with good spawn rate, but just being able to create it and farm it to death? Although, that might be a solution to get rid of bots in public areas

Oh, but it IS possible to accomplish within an MMO. Cryptic's Star Trek Online and Neverwinter both use something called "The Foundry", which is a feature that allows players to make content. Player created content can be both single or group missions, humorous, serious, pointless, action packed, whatever.

I remember playing through some pretty damn entertaining content when I played STO and NW.

That was definitely a pretty amazing feature in any Mmorpg I've seen, didn't play Star Trek, cause you know... It's Star Trek... But as someone who personally made quite a bit of stuff in Neverwinter using the Foundry, it was definitely, and probably still is the best part about that game. It was an interesting way to keep content always happening, regardless of it being "Official" or not.

I couldn't see it working in ESO as well though, they'd have to put some serious restrictions on something as a "Foundry", first, they'd pretty much have to eliminate all drops, items, etc, and make monsters, instances and so forth, purely cosmetic, and offer absolutely no reward for doing so. Which I don't mind, because it's definitely interesting to see what kind of stories the community can come up with.

Another issue I would foresee, is the inability to input voice acting. ESO as it stands right now probably keeps those entertained who care about a story, and lore, just because it's voiced over. Now I'm not saying everyone "needs" the voice acting, but without it, ESO would probably feel like more of a "Generic" mmorpg than what others already claim it to be (those who don't care for story/lore).

I'd love it if a "Foundry" came into play, even at the cost of no rewards, but, how popular would it be? I don't see this feature coming into play in the near-long future, if at all.

I'd love to try it if they manage to introduce it but a lot of people won't be bothered to go through content and no get a reward.
