Tell me i'm curious after 5 years playing Main Templar, how to enjoy combat?
I just did 5 Battlegrounds and i was the only Templar in those matches. Where are the Templars in pvp? just curious you still enjoy the combat?

Switched to mag blade for dps and changed stamplar dps to tank. Absolutely hate the animation for jabs and refuse to use it. Probably could find a work around for magplar dps, but can't be bothered.

Only "enjoying" mine as a PvE werewolf. I hate what they've done to the class, with my greatest grievance being the embarrassing jabs animation. It looks as weak as it feels.

I don't pvp with my templar except on rare occasion. I main a dps magplar and she has been shelved until the jabs animation is reverted/made to actually look and feel better. I miss her a lot. :(

My templars, which i've reworked from previous updates several times to keep at about 40k, were down about 20% DPS on the test server. I'm to exhausted to do it all over again, and the animation change to Jabs was to much.

    So RIP templars.

I quit and only now am I checking back in to see if update 36 has fixed anything. I gotta say I am disappointed so far and knowing how ZOS operates, if they haven't fixed it week 1, they aren't fixing it ever. My templar was pretty much my main and if jabs don't hurt it pretty much stops being fun. A game that isn't fun isn't worth playing.

The reduced damage of sweeps combined with the reduced life leach percentage is a double nerf. My magplar used to do moderate dps but what made her fun was when the going got tough, she was built with enough sustain to sweep continuously - and as long as she was sweeping, she was living. Now she has no more surivability than any of my other characters with less dps. Foregoing sweeps to spam shards then beam below 50% boosts her dps slightly but renders her even less survivable. She can no longer clear some content that she used to clear. And she is no longer my go-to elf for surviving tough content. What made her uniquely fun is gone.

I main Sorceror, but my Templar was my "second in command". I ended up liking my Templar's story (that I made for her) a lot more than my Sorc; but I still "mained" my Sorc when it came to clearing content or doing difficult tasks like arenas.

During the event, I made an honest attempt to use my Templar and an honest attempt to like/use the new jabs...but I just can't stand how they look now. So silly, so ridiculous, and the decrease in damage is just the "Cherry on top" of how bad it is. If they could at least make the animation cooler looking, get rid of that silly "pull back" animation on the third hit, at least it would be bearable to watch. Now I just get sadden whenever I try playing my "favorite child" (my Templar)...

I'm just disappointed. And it encourages me to stay on my main. Even with the nerfs to Sorc, at least my skills still look nice.

And now they're going to change Isobel's animation to match the new one....I just....It's going to look just as ridiculous on her as well.

As a beta tester on pc, and a daily player on xbox since 2015, I've seen many patches come and go. I've taken a couple breaks from the game, Morrowind anyone? Anyone?. I don't PVP on my Magplar. My Magplar is my PVE DPS in dungeons, and quester in the open world.

Update 35 didn't do as intended. They wanted to lower the curve between the top end players and the bottom end players. I can respect that. That is absolutely not what happened.

Magplars haven't needed a nerf in seven years to jabs, I read why they changed jabs, but it wasn't needed on the PVE side of things. It wasn't broke, why fix it? The only part I like about the new animation is the color they chose for the jabs. The animation is horrible, especially the last hit. I am very disappointed in whoever approved that change. Very bad decision in my opinion. I do not enjoy the combat on the templar anymore with the spammable moving to blazing spear. They have dumbed down the classes over the years so everyone can do everything, but they lost the identity of what made the classes so great to begin with.

My magplar wears 5 piece perfected false god, 5 piece orders wrath, oakensoul, 1 piece slimecraw. In update 34, he consistently tested at 75k dps on the trial dummies. That was good enough for me. Good damage, enough to get into vet trials if I was interested, could solo world bosses, and one of my favorite builds I have had over the years. When update 35 launched, first thing I did was test him on the trial dummies. He went from 75k to 50k overnight for multiple reasons, including the nerf to oakensoul. Now, I cannot get into vet trials, have a hard time soloing world bosses, and do not enjoy the direction they have gone with the templar.

Unfortunately what occured, as we've seen on youtube parses, the end game community is still hitting 120k to 130k (round numbers). The changes did absolutely nothing to the best of the best, while everyone else, including players such as myself had our damage severely reduced. The main quote we've heard over the years is play how you want to play. We can no longer do that. I now have to figure out a new build, which costs resources, time, and energy to work towards the sets the end game community uses, or theory craft my own which will use even more resources for multiple sets, my time, and energy. I am extremely disappointed (an understatement), in this patch.

As of this patch, I log in and do my daily crafting writs on one toon. I do the high isle daily quests on my to try and pull a furnishing plan on one, maybe two toons, and I log off. (Side note: Does everyone realize they released the High Isle Chapter, update 34, and didn't even have the furnishing plan as rewards for the dailies. We had three months of doing the dailies, and only had the chance to maybe get a motif? I did the dailies for a month (for the in game achievement) and received 2 motifs. Everyday was maybe one item in a reward coffer. I quit doing them after that. Glad we paid for that Chapter for no rewards. They added the rewards in patch 35. It is in the patch notes.)

I'm very disappointed in the overall management of this game. I have played games since the original pong on black and white tv's. I must say this is the only game I have played that kept my interest for this long and is in my top 3 games of all time. Most games I play keep my interest usually three to six months, rarely a year with updates.

Until I see something turn around, or change, I will be doing as mentioned above, doing daily crafting writs, maybe a High Isle daily, and then logging off and playing something else. They should have done this change late last year, or early this spring when nothing was in sight. Come this fall/winter/spring next year, there will be too many new games out there to take us away from playing, and reducing their player base / ESO plus subscription base. Bad timing / decision making, in my opinion.

Apology if I am too far off topic.

It's not a bug, it's a feature. They did that with blackwood already, to extend interest in the new zone.

    - start with motifs on boss dailies
    - add blueprints for delve dailies weeks later, with low drop rate
    - when players get frustrated, add a zone event with increased drop rate, more offers in guildstores as people farm event rewards and sell the blueprints. Like this they dropped in price from 200k to 20 k within 1-2 weeks
    - when the cycle is finished, a new chapter is teasered.

I main a templar healer and TBH, I haven't really changed anything, other than I added Vigor and/or circle of protection to my skill bar in place of regeneration for fights where everyone can stack up. When not in coordinated play, I have an offensive backbar set up the same way, except my go-to ultimate is empowering sweeps. I don't parse this character, but he's able to kill everything he was able to before pre-patch. The only thing I hate is the new jabs animation. I thought it was neat at first, but after playing with it a while, it definitely feels odd.

My MagPlar Healer is my PvP main, but I occasionally did some PvE with him.

Not liking sweep/jabs now. The animation isn't very good, the damage was reduced, healing reduced. Part of the reason I'd take him to PvE was sweep: he'd help clear lower content faster than my MagDen Healer.

PvP, jury is still out. I obviously focus mostly on healing and DoT debuffs, with sweep kind of a skill used to deter enemies that closed in.

So, for PvP, it's "meh", but for PvE it's "bad"

For some reason, the one line bonus of crit on slimecraw is higher than other monster pieces. You could run a one piece like Zaan, but Slimecraw is a hair better. As a general rule, crit chance is the best of the typical one line set bonuses for PVE DPS. With Mythic Items, it is pretty common to run 5/5/1/1 (2 5 piece sets, a monster and a mythic).

That said, with Arena Weapons being nerfed, front bar/Back bar setups are emerging as meta in a lot of situations. You run one 5 piece bonus on the front (often a trial set), you run another on the back (something like Pillar of Nirn that is easy to proc on command), and that leaves room for a mythic and 2 pieces of a monster set.

Templar jabs just needs a small DPS buff. People are losing their minds over what is overall a good change. Getting the skill on the GCD was a good move. It is so much easier to weave now. They simply nerfed the DPS too far, Burning Light passive could probably use a little love as well. I have played more templar this patch than I have in a while. It is still the easymode class for 4man content.

I don't mind the shorter duration or the timing, I just want the animation to stop looking silly. A slight DPS buff too, would be nice, but ultimately just want the shoveling animation to be swapped. I want to look like I'm spearing something, not shoveling dirt.

The shorter duration (making it easier to weave) is probably the ONLY thing I like about the new jabs and don't want changed back.

@SpacemanSpiff1 you keep saying U35 is “really good” but never provide any additional clarification.

I would actually like to know specifically which U35 changes you like and think are beneficial to the game overall since it’s not the animation change or nerf as per your quoted post?

If you’re being sarcastic I’m afraid that I’m not picking up on it.

Same here my weaving was fine before and after the change. I simply loathe the new unjustified janky vampiric animation and unnecessary nerf.

Out of all the changes of Lost Depths (lost dps), the nerf to jabs is my biggest issue. The class feels terrible and the new animation is goofy. The staff motif for the “spear” is a recycled Nighthollow motif. Nice having a vampire weapon on a holy warrior.. kick in the stomach to RPers and lore nerds also!

I could overlook the lame visual change to jabs if it still did the same damage as before. Templar has never felt so weak before. I refuse to spam blazing spear as a spammable. It’s not fun and the sustain is bad enough as it is…. My 2 dps Templars are shelved until something is done. Templar was my main since the beginning. It’s just not fun and I’m better off on other classes.

Templar main sinve beta here. I LOVE the burning Light change. It has opened up the class for so much more builds.
I love the new radiant aura
I like the new spear model and animation for jabs BUT the damage should be tuned up just a little bit for the skill.

Overall the class feels different and jabs felt better to kill people with before
