Is it just me, im on nb if i look in stats at my penetration while facing south it is less if i look north it is higher, i then go in housing to test it on a dummy and regardless of which way the dummy is facing i get higher penetration on it if i look north side why is that?

ok yea its the nb passive that amount is reduced when looking south , so i thought flank meant if attacking enemy from behind not attacking southwards

Yes, a nightblade passive gives you extra penetration when flanking an enemy.

If there is an enemy in range in the direction you are facing, and they are facing away, your character sheet will reflect the increased penetration.

The cardinal direction you are facing makes no difference, only your relative position to a target (whether you are flanking or not flanking.)

missing the point its a ui bug, i am behind the trial dummy and the penetration on all ui including addons reads less if the dummy faces north or south i am standing behind it

It is not a UI bug, and I am not missing the point. I explained how it works clearly, I thought. Flanking is the sides or behind, excluding an area at an angle originating from the front of the target (facing the target as opposed to flanking it.)

You said you're standing behind the target and changing the way it faces so you were in and out of the flanking area based on the way it's facing.

I don't know what your goal is by insisting it's a UI bug when it is not.

omg are you serious, Regardless if it is facing me or not it remains the same penetration reading when it should not, if facing it should be lower reading but it is saying the nb passive is in use while front facing if i am facing north or south depending..

I have been having this issue too on my stamblade and I have been ripping my hair out trying to figure out why my pen was different based on different houses I would parse in. In one friend's house, I was getting 16k-17k pen, and in 3 other friend's houses I was getting 18200 pen with the exact same set up and it made no sense to me. I did some testing with my friend in the house that was suspect, and I found your forum post and realized that, yes, if you are facing south, you are not getting extra pen. I do not believe this is a UI bug as it is effecting actual parses and content.

I also made a video demonstrating some of our testing.

Open inventory or stats sheet, and notice the penetration number decrease or increase (depending on which direction your character is) because it makes your character turn around and impacts your stats in real time :D

I did reach out to Skinnycheeks through ESOU discord, and showed him the video I posted above and some testing I did in a dungeon as well. He thinks it actually is a UI bug and is not effecting actual pen values. If that is the case then it's nothing more than a slight annoyance, but it is definitely a problem when trying to determine if I am getting enough pen in vet trials since it is being skewed. Very frustrating in that regard to say the least, since I don't know if I should be building into more pen or if the group is providing enough debuffs in content. Hopefully ZOS can fix this, as I filed a bug report about it yesterday as well.

    I have a similar glitch.
As a result, which indicator should I believe? :(
