Could, not would. I don’t like giving gold to random gold beggars in /z chat. I might for an guildie or a friend that is just starting out.

I just realized the question is how much "could" you give rather than how much "would" you give. The first would indicate how much gold we have while the second would indicate how generous we are.

Randos begging for gold in zone chat get told that if they do their daily writs they'll get their gold in no time AND earn it themselves. I'd never talk down anyone who gave them gold though, its's their own choice.

    69 gold exactly.

Whenever I sell in the guild trader I always end it with either 420 or 69
I make way more sales that way :D

    Best sales was 38 420 069 gold

I wouldn't give them anything more then advice and tell them how to make money so they don;t become depantant on others, and offer them a free vampire bite or werewolf bite if they wanted it, even though gold is largely useless to me now a-days have most of the houses I want and most of the styles I want, master craftere and so on.

The game needs more in game gold sinks

I could give a new player 500k to 1 million without really noticing it, but I probably wouldn't unless I really knew they were a new player struggling, so maybe if they are between cp10 and cp160.
And also only if they didn't actually ask for it but I just kinda noticed that they were sturggeling

If its a friend of guildmate I play with, I would be more than happy to help out with some cash for a specific purpose, if they are in a bind.

But I would not be giving away my hard earned cash to anyone simply begging or not being willing to engage with content to earn their own money.

That said, quite some time back I noted that random players would on a semi regular basis, just ask for anyone to give them gold in zone chat. I remember thinking that is ridiculous, surely no one actually gives out gold like that. I then tried it just for a laugh and to prove my hypothesis, I travelled around the zones and just asked for various sums of cash... 10k, 50k, 100k. Quite incredibly I found players genuinely offering to give me the these sums, some just sent it to you, no text chat, no email chat, just sent tens of thousands in gold.

In principle I object to this practice and in particular the begging side of it. But each to their own. There are some very generous players in ESO, which is positive and fair play to them.

ps - I have on two occasions also "earned" 1,000,000 from clearly wealthy individuals, for making them laugh and entertaining them (in zone chat). Fun times.

Nothing if they ask or beg. I've been known to give 200k to a guildie so he could get the house he wanted, or 100k to someone I grouped with who was new.

It's not often people ask me for hand-outs so I don't mind giving something away once in a while if they give me a reason why they need it (so far it's been mostly low levels asking for money for feeding their mounts or expanding their backpack). If someone is rude or even slightly demanding about it I ignore them though. But if they are being normal about it I generally can spare a little something.
I also often ask if they have joined a trading guild of some kind and I'm glad to help them out finding a guild that suits their needs. So far most seemed very appreciative of my advice. I know some people take advantage of kind people but to me it happens so little I don't mind the occasional cheater. I think I meet more genuine people than parasites.

I once offered to buy someone in my guild a mount that was available at that time for gems. I never used gems so said I would gift them the mount. I was a bit embarrassed when I found out you couldn't gift gem purchases to other players. Maybe I'm not such a Scrooge afterall. It's the thought that counts.

I don't mind helping out a stranger once or twice a month as it can be such a hassle if you get a bounty but don't have the funds to clear it when you're new and 10K is plenty to get someone out of that type of jam a couple of times.
If it was a friend just starting out I'd give them 100K.

Varana- Tbf you can only speak for yourself not anyone else. Also OP clearly didn't actually mean to use 'could''. And it was a joke so your reply was unnecessary anyway but thanks.

Paying attention to the actual question is important here.

The question is how much you could give.
That doesn't mean that these people (including me) ever would do that.

If for some reason a family member or a really good RL friend started playing, I could certainly give them 200k+ without feeling much of a loss. That doesn't mean I would do anything even close to that to random people. (Although I have given crafted stuff worth about 100k or so to various guild members.)

I'm not sure what the OP intended to ask. What he did ask, is not what players would actually really do.

I'm not naive. My gold cost me a lot of playing time, why would I give anything to someone who is not willing to bend his neck and pick items scattered around. The gold lies on the ground, they need to run a bit and find it. This is a game where you kill or pick to make gold, not ask for charity, like some beggar or scammer.

It's absolutely obvious that OP meant "would".
If he meant could, he would just have asked "How much gold do you have"

I mean ..it's really, really obvious.

Depends on what platform u play on, tbh if ur on console id practically give the money away around now and play a different game, CBA with it considering there's hardly anyone on anymore, on pc id do guild quiz and house games and reward would be around 100k, it's not like it's my real life cash stack. I have given 100s to homeless in real life money is a root of being evil.

This needs an "Other" option. I do give new players gold sometimes (and lots of other stuff). But NOT if they ask. For some reason that doesn't sit right with me. 100k for sure I have given. But I give way, way more in value via equipment and motifs and collectibles like pieces for the big eared ginger kitten or the sixth house robe. And, of course my time in taking them through dungeons, which i love doing (but I tend to just wander around, so maybe my time isn't worth anything).

Edit: Just noticed the point @SilverBride made that the question asks how much "could" you give. That does change things. i think the better question is how much "would" you give. Otherwise you are just asking how wealthy we are.
