Is it okay to start a new character in a different faction?

I been in Ebonheart Pact since release of the game, I need to create a new character to discover new places because I got tired Davons Watch, My main will still the Pact but I think it is time to create a elven faction as Imperial, am I going to get different dialogues because I'm Imperial? Am I going to get lost in a small town with roads everywhere without finding quest related NPC?

See, I played Skyrim and Oblivion ALOT back in the day and I'm interested in making Thalmor angry if thats possible.

You won't get any special treatment simply because of choosing to be an Imperial. Starting a new character for a different race/alliance is essentially the same as doing Cadwell's Silver/Gold with your main after completing the Main Quest. Simply gives you the opportunity to experience the other two alliances.

this was an issue before One Tamriel, since then you can go to any region you like, do any zonequest.

Only reason to use 1 of each faction is cyrodiil. If you have a daily endeavour like "complete a quest for Vlastarus", I log in with a character whose faction currently owns that town.

    Favorite Foods and Potions
    https://media.giphy.com/media/3otPoTggaYFNd1FdAI/giphy.gif
    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

There is the occasional dialogue change due to race/faction/curse, but really it’s not that common.

I have characters in all three factions because of my own personal RP reasons. For example, in my own personal head canon, my orc was in the AD because she saw Bretons as the oppressors of the orcs. And she extended those feelings to all humans, so she joined the AD. After Orsinium she switched back to DC, now that issues there felt settled.

I had no real reason to switch factions other than it felt right for her character. (I should note I am NOT in an RP guild.)

Anyway, choose whatever faction you like, it’d perfectly fine.

Of course, it's ok. Heck, I've always done that with every MMO I played - why would I want to miss out on any quest & story content? (In WoW, I made a character of every race, because each one had their own starting zone, for instance.)

Only place it really has any meaning is in PvP, since the factions matter in Cyro.

But yeah, as mentioned - since One Tamriel, you can just go anywhere & do everything. Any zone you go to, the story will treat you like the "hero" of it's plot. So go through the AD zones, you're the AD champion; pop over to the Ebonheart Pact and >poof< you're the EP questing hero. Etc.

...needless to say, this makes following the "official" plot & quest progression kind of difficult for new players who don't know any of this. The different starting tutorials & all the various DLC starter NPCs yelling at you to pick up their quests whenever you enter town, doesn't help.

(before One Tamriel, you quested through the faction that you created the character for; then you could move on to the next faction to play through their plotline, and then on to the third. The quests directing this were "Cadwell's Silver" and "Cadwell's Gold".)

Yeah as an Imperial Enjoyer over several games I was severely disappointed in 2014 when nobody mentioned my Imperialness. We're the bad guys, the cause of Molag Bol's incursion into Nirn and we're not even distrusted as potential spies or get snide comments.

There is a lot more to Ebonheart Pact than just Davon's Watch. If you follow the main quest for the faction, you head to Deshaan, Shadowfen, Eastmarch, and the Rift, and then to Coldharbor.

Once you complete the main quest/get your soul back, you can do Cadwell's Silver and Gold; the main faction quests for the Daggerfall Covenant and Aldmeri Dominion.

Making characters in each faction is no problem. You will get a chance to beat the crap out of Thalmor regardless.

I'll take Aldmeri any day of the week. Everything is concisely designed and easily accessible in Vulkel guard. I tried Daggerfall and all the crafting stuff is spread around, just wasting time going from one to the next. Got rid of it and went back to Aldmeri.

As other people have said it doesn't make a big difference, there's very little race specific dialogue and I don't think there's anything faction specific, unless you count the NPCs in Cyrodiil having different personalities and therefore slightly different wording when giving quests.

Your faction only really matters for PvP, but it also determines where The Harbourage is so if you're planning to do the main quest alongside an alliance's storyline it's helpful to pick that alliance so the two are in the same area. It also determines some other odd things which were forgotten when One Tamriel came along, like where you can pick up the quest to become a vampire or werewolf if you're bitten by an NPC.
