Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• ESO Store and Account System for maintenance – April 8, 9:00AM EDT (13:00 UTC) - 6:00PM EDT (22:00 UTC)
We are currently investigating connection issues some players are having on the European megaservers. We will update as new information becomes available.

I'm worried, and I would like to talk.

Every few months we get very large changes for combat, for sets and other things in the game. I feel like we lose options that we had before, or that were more viable before. As someone that loves this game I want it to succeed and I can't understand why we get these changes every numbered update. The game is getting old and many players want something more stable, we still want the new DLC dungeons and chapters and minor changes that help with balance but nothing this big every single time, because these combat changes are not content, they're just something annoying that we need to learn and it's even more disheartening knowing that even after learning it, it will change again soon.

I would love some more communication right now, everyone is talking about how bad the changes are, how much damage we lost and how 10% health decrease on bosses isn't enough. Why can't we have one single ZOS employee talk about these with us? Like.. honest thoughts on how the community reacted and how they view that reaction. Talking about their future plans.. whatever, just some insight of the situation and some answers as to why this keeps happening every single update. A livestream, a video, some real Q&A that answer more than just some of the questions. A letter from the director, literally any kind of communication but let it be a real one, not a "We're aware and looking into it" kind of communication.

Most of us prefer the game as it was in update 34, not because it's the best version of combat we've had but because we were used to it, we learnt how to play with those rules and now they got changed once again.

Every single one of us is a real person/player/customer, we worry about things and even tho I can imagine how stressful it might be to be in charge of a game this big, it can be easy to put everyone in the same bag as "players that complain about everything, so we're just ignore them" and if that isn't how you (ZOS) think, then you should prove it to us, because we're going to need that kind of trust moving forward.

We as customers feel like we are helpless whenever some update like this gets pushed to the live server, feels like our voice isn't heard and this game is supposed to be for us right? Why can't we get what we ask for? It isn't even content after all, we just wanted the numbers of damage, timers and such to stay as they were, it can't be that hard in my honest opinion.

I've been playing video games for a long time, I'm used to being able to keep older versions of games that I like, a game that doesn't change, this is an MMO, that won't happen and don't expect it to happen because it would be a bad thing for the game, but right now, even tho I love the elder scrolls online, it's starting to feel like it's a pile of sand in my hands, it's slipping through my fingers really fast, and I won't be able to keep it.

I know that most likely this message won't be read by anyone that can do something about it, the forum moderators will probably read it of course, hopefully nothing [snip] worthy, they do their job and I perfectly understand that but that's our reality as players, we keep trying to be heard because we care about it, start worrying when we don't come here anymore, hopefully never happens. Thank you for reading.

Maintaining the status quo simply because it’s familiar is not a good argument.

If update 35 is better for the longer term balance and health of the game, which has not been articulated well by the developers mind you, then I’m on board.

As I said, it is an MMO and changes are needed, but I can't understand anyone coming to this post and leaving a comment in defense of update 35, nothing about it is better than what we had and therefore it should have stayed as it was.

Or at least prepared more for these drastic updates

    But it's not.
No one is saying there aren't multiple interpretations of the lore, and we're not arguing that ESO did it "wrong".

We're arguing that they decided to go for the most boring, mundane, seen-before interpretation possible. Like they almost always do, unless they can ride on the coat-tails of past games.

The drastic swings back and forth and poorly rolling back things to incorrect values over and over through the PTS would entirely undermine the hypothesis that there's any actual plan for the longer term balance and health of the game.

You don't have a long term plan and make huge, sweeping changes from week to week like that, and then go live after less than a week of the final changes being in place (many of which were broken or not actually implemented even in the final week of the PTS run).

The only way they will change or listen .. is if we all quit , cancel our subs and go play something else.. they have ruined the game and the only people at fault are themselves..

It's only been 8 years of wild swings, but it's funny to read people talking about the "long term health".

Hopefully by the 10 year mark we'll be out of beta.

Let’s just be honest all they are doing is throwing idea’s up in the air to see what will and will not fly. I have no confidence or faith in what they are doing. So many wild swings and changes shows me they have no concrete stable plan or goal in mind for ESO. Despite them saying otherwise.

Don’t get me wrong I am still pulling for them as I love ESO and play daily. Just not a much as before and my feelings are becoming more and more indifferent towards ESO. As someone who plays all classes in both stamina and magic versions in all roles. There are just too many needless changes due to the wild swings in the thought process ZOS is having concerning ESO roadmap and goals.

Running a game this size that is adding content 4 times a year is nothing short of an immense challenge I would think. That said outside of adding content to keep people coming back I have no idea what ZOS plan for ESO is and neither do they it seems. Maybe constantly changing combat is one of ZOS unspoken or publicized goals roles, because if it is, they are doing a fantastic job at that and deserve a raise.

    Stay safe :)
