Only did one enchanter survey today whilst knocking out the weekly endeavour and got kuta. Shrug. (also did a jewellery survey and got the Sea Silver Chain, which is a shame because I don't have High Isle dlc)

Why should other people delete their surveys because you have had a bad run of rng?

I stopped doing all daily crafting writs altogether. I get plenty of mats from just breaking down gear from running dungeons. It just isn't worth my time and effort to do those dailies on one character and definitely it's worth doing on more than one character...

Enchanting surveys have entered a whole new tier of their own, they are trash tier. You are spending your time to get junk runes.

I dont dabble much in crafting. Can someone explain what ZOS gets out of this? Why give us so much trash? How is it motivating for the player?

Are crafting materials purchasable with crowns in some way? Is it an ESO plus thing? Is it an excuse to for us to buy more inventory space? I'm dipping back in after a long absence and I'm writing from my workplace so I cant check myself.

No one is saying there aren't multiple interpretations of the lore, and we're not arguing that ESO did it "wrong".

We're arguing that they decided to go for the most boring, mundane, seen-before interpretation possible. Like they almost always do, unless they can ride on the coat-tails of past games.

None of that. It's a welcome on-ramp for new players. You forget how frustrating it is as a veteran to run out of these things halfway through a writ when you've 300 each in your craft bag. One enchanting survey will pretty much guarantee whatever missing item you need for today's crafting writs.

That said.... Agree with op that I never see kutas off these things even with max crafting/harvesting CP.

That's some bad RNG. I get Kuta about once every 4 surveys

Still, the effort in doing these is not outweighed by the gains. The fact that mundane runes don't drop is also a huge deterrent from actually doing these, as you make more off mundanes in a few enchanting nodes than you would from getting a kuta in one out of every four surveys as Kuta are cheap.

If there was a chance of an indeko or hakeijo, or mundanes were added to the loot table, then I wouldn't be advocating for people to delete their enchanting surveys. But as it stands now, you are better off farming normal enchanting nodes than you are doing these surveys.

Agree with both points. Would love if indeko or hakeijo dropped. Or at least stop dropping the useless green

Wont delete, but they are certainly of the lowest priority. At one point, I had over 100 Wrothgar enchanter surveys. Finally did them all last summer. I still have close to 2k total surveys of all types that are sitting in my bank. Last summer I knocked out all the DLC zones, but the base game zones are still there and the DLC zones are piling up again. Never know when you might need them.

If Antiquities have taught us anything, hold on to your surveys. Got one of the Oakensoul leads in about 30 seconds doing blacksmithing surveys in Glenumbra.

I don't know if the chance of a new lead coming out is enough of an incentive to take up precious inventory space, but you clearly have inventory space to spare and hedge on additions requiring these. For me, it's still a pass, but I'm glad we both agree that these are lowest priority (to you this means put them aside, to me it means delete them)

Yeah, a moderate percent of my bank storage is devoted to stacks of surveys. Easy to dump them on an alt if I need to do some inventory shuffling, but they certainly take up more space than I would like. At my max, I was at about 3k surveys. I got through about half last summer (basically all the DLC zones), but they have been piling up again since. I do have max inventory, bank, 18 toons, and all storage boxes, so really dont have that much of a storage crunch these days. Stickerbook helped a LOT in that department, and I really cant play without the craft bag.

If you told me I had to delete one type of survery, it would certainly be Enchanting. They should buff to include better drops, more Kuta, and throw Hakeijo and some others in their as well.

I collect all my surveys on one character, so not taking up bank space. I collect surveys when I get a stack of 10 in one location, except for enchanting now. I have some sizable stacks of them. If I run low on Oko (which are needed to do the writs, double any other essence rune) I'll go collect a big stack of them.

Yeah, I used to do that, but I am lazy and now just leave them in my bank. LOL. Since Stickerbook, storage is just not an issue for me (unless I let my ESO+ lapse). I was a massive gear hoarder, but I deleted everything that was purple or less when stickerbook dropped. I also dont do writs with nearly the frequency that I used to.

Jewelry surveys are the only ones I keep. I'm bad with maps and the rest of them simply don't provide enough reward to bother with. I sell most of the treasure maps I get for the same reason. It just takes too long.

As long as I have a craft bag, I will likely continue to pick up surveys. I'm on PC so it's not much trouble with the addons PC users can use. I try to keep a few surveys in the bank for endeavors. I can help out players that need to level enchanting. I could delete them and not miss it but I farm mats a few times a month so I might as well farm mats from one survey to the next.

Guildie: "Can someone send some glyphs to help me finish leveling enchanting?"
Me: "I can send up to 7k purple lvl 150 glyphs. I'll start sending them now. Deconstruct them and let me know when to stop sending."
Guildie: "Thanks, send more... more... ... maybe 24 more... 24 more ... ... okay, I reached lvl 50, thanks!"

I’ve been deleting enchanting surveys for quite a while now. Harvesting regular runes and heavy sacks keeps my inventory up, gives me mundanes and satisfies Ember. Also if any survey is difficult to reach they are also deleted.

I just store my surveys in another characters inventory, no reason to leave them in a characters inventory that your actively using or in the bank or storage chests, you have access to multiple character slots with plenty of extra storage space nothing stopping you making use of it.

While I feel enchanting ones are the lowest priority it would be stupid to delete them, never know if a lead will come out that drops from them, they have already set the precedent for that to happen.

The only runes I need are oko and ta, I'm always short on those. Have like 3k kuta and 7k mundane, barely use those and they drop often from regular nodes.

ZOS does need to adjust the droprate of the essence runes as there are so many, meaning they rarely drop a specific essence rune. Both from surveys and regular nodes. During double drop events, this seems balanced.

I don't use Enchanting surveys, so I don't know their drop rate.I'm just used to farm runestones (15 mins round), and get a fair amount of kutas and mundane stones on a daily basis. There are several areas with loads of runestones so it's really easy to do. It seems to me easier than the surveys.

There is nothing to prove wrong, that is just your opinion. You think they are bad then feel free to destroy your own and get on with your time in ESO. If others agree with you then fine, they are free to delete them too if thats their wish. The rest of us will just carry on regardless.

Yeah, Alchemy is the only one that's really actually worth doing.

    @acastanza_ESO
Yeah, that is definitely NOT true. Now, I am not sure it is worth running out to harvest every time you get a survey, but once they pile up a bit, they are an extremely efficient method of gathering resources. @tmbrinks could probably give better info here, but if I had to guess, the value of the surveys goes: Jewelry>Cloth>Blacksmith>wood or alchemy>Enchanting. Admittedly, alchemy is probably the one I am least comfortable valuing, but I dont think its at the top.

When I did about half of my survey stash last summer, I got a hefty pile of gold mats and lots of refined mats for either making gear or doing more writs.

Alchemy can be valuable using the reset mode (check plants, if garbage move away and come back, they will reset and reroll) to farm for stuff like columbine while running the CP star for double mats (doesn't seem to hit 50%, but it does hit). Of course, some surveys are much easier to reset than others (I ignore the ones stuck on islands or whatnot that require swimming to move away and reset).

I took up the challenge and did 8 enchanting surveys. I got 4 kuta in the first 5 surveys but then nothing useful. But along the way I found a few mages guild books, a couple of thieves stashes, and three sky shards that my crafter had never been near before (he doesn't get out much).

Yeah, Alchemy is really the only one you can manipulate. I usually reset to be sure at least half the plants are either Cornflower or Columbine.

I am shocked at how many people say they delete Blacksmith or Woodworking. Even woodworking, lets say you save up 10 of the same node (I have literally done 50 of the same node). You get on average, about 30*6 raw mats, x10 surveys, is 1800 raw mats. That is 9+ Rosin for maybe 6-7 minutes of work. Yes space is an issue, but deleting anything but maybe enchanting is just setting gold on fire. Lets say you can do 9 stacks of 10 in an hour (about right from my experience), you are looking at 81 rosin at 3k each. Call it 250k gold an hour with everything else you get, and that is conservative estimate. Again, you need to let them pile up, but easy to just store them all on an Alt or in your bank. The bigger the pile, the more efficient the harvest.

They're worth it to me as they cost nothing to do.

But compared to other surveys they don't have nearly as much worth, I do agree there.
