I dont dabble much in crafting. Can someone explain what ZOS gets out of this? Why give us so much trash? How is it motivating for the player?
Are crafting materials purchasable with crowns in some way? Is it an ESO plus thing? Is it an excuse to for us to buy more inventory space? I'm dipping back in after a long absence and I'm writing from my workplace so I cant check myself.

Still, the effort in doing these is not outweighed by the gains. The fact that mundane runes don't drop is also a huge deterrent from actually doing these, as you make more off mundanes in a few enchanting nodes than you would from getting a kuta in one out of every four surveys as Kuta are cheap.
If there was a chance of an indeko or hakeijo, or mundanes were added to the loot table, then I wouldn't be advocating for people to delete their enchanting surveys. But as it stands now, you are better off farming normal enchanting nodes than you are doing these surveys.

I still have close to 2k total surveys of all types that are sitting in my bank. Last summer I knocked out all the DLC zones, but the base game zones are still there and the DLC zones are piling up again. Never know when you might need them.
If Antiquities have taught us anything, hold on to your surveys. Got one of the Oakensoul leads in about 30 seconds doing blacksmithing surveys in Glenumbra.
I don't know if the chance of a new lead coming out is enough of an incentive to take up precious inventory space, but you clearly have inventory space to spare and hedge on additions requiring these. For me, it's still a pass, but I'm glad we both agree that these are lowest priority (to you this means put them aside, to me it means delete them)
Yeah, a moderate percent of my bank storage is devoted to stacks of surveys. Easy to dump them on an alt if I need to do some inventory shuffling, but they certainly take up more space than I would like. At my max, I was at about 3k surveys. I got through about half last summer (basically all the DLC zones), but they have been piling up again since. I do have max inventory, bank, 18 toons, and all storage boxes, so really dont have that much of a storage crunch these days. Stickerbook helped a LOT in that department, and I really cant play without the craft bag.
If you told me I had to delete one type of survery, it would certainly be Enchanting. They should buff to include better drops, more Kuta, and throw Hakeijo and some others in their as well.
I collect all my surveys on one character, so not taking up bank space. I collect surveys when I get a stack of 10 in one location, except for enchanting now. I have some sizable stacks of them. If I run low on Oko (which are needed to do the writs, double any other essence rune) I'll go collect a big stack of them.

Yeah, I used to do that, but I am lazy and now just leave them in my bank. LOL. Since Stickerbook, storage is just not an issue for me (unless I let my ESO+ lapse). I was a massive gear hoarder, but I deleted everything that was purple or less when stickerbook dropped. I also dont do writs with nearly the frequency that I used to.

Yeah, that is definitely NOT true. Now, I am not sure it is worth running out to harvest every time you get a survey, but once they pile up a bit, they are an extremely efficient method of gathering resources. @tmbrinks could probably give better info here, but if I had to guess, the value of the surveys goes: Jewelry>Cloth>Blacksmith>wood or alchemy>Enchanting. Admittedly, alchemy is probably the one I am least comfortable valuing, but I dont think its at the top.
When I did about half of my survey stash last summer, I got a hefty pile of gold mats and lots of refined mats for either making gear or doing more writs.

Alchemy can be valuable using the reset mode (check plants, if garbage move away and come back, they will reset and reroll) to farm for stuff like columbine while running the CP star for double mats (doesn't seem to hit 50%, but it does hit). Of course, some surveys are much easier to reset than others (I ignore the ones stuck on islands or whatnot that require swimming to move away and reset).
