Nearly all NPCs were killable in the beginning, save guards. Then Zeni discovered how much some enjoy greifing by killing quest givers and other NPCs needed for quest stages
Thus the world we have today

(I think the last time I slaughtered a town was in one of the early Ultima games, 2 or 3? But that was back in the 80's, when i was a young teen.)
I couldn't imagine starting this game as a new player and by the time you get to the first settlement, have a log full of random quests from story chapters to the main story to side quests to guild lines to prologues to features like ToT and be totally confused.
People shouldn't have to fill their limited quests with starters to avoid listening to the dialogue. You know the limit is 25, right? And realize that all the quest starters we have would take most of that space?Aetherderius wrote: »Heaven forbid you pick up the darn quest. You poor journal might implode.
"GET AWAY FROM ME YOU STUPID THING!"
"IS IT GOOOONE?"
Only ones I have ever wished I could BoW
What else is there to even do at Tor Draioch other than Ember's quest? It's not exactly Vulkhel Guard.

There are a lot of annoying NPCs in the game that really should be killable.
'You have been looking for me everywhere, huh? Well, you found me *BoW*'
"Tests your wits and courage in a brand new card game, Ta.." *BoW*
".. but is well worth the visit" *BoW*..
"i have an important message for you.." *BoW*
It would be highly cathartic.
