For the same reason BMW doesn't want my suggestions on how to make a better car.

Or McDonalds wants my suggestions on how to make a better burger.

Why on earth would you think they (or ANY massive corporation for that matter) would care about every little suggestion coming in? The logistics and cost in just reading all the suggestions would be more than most companies would be willing to shell out.

You guys need to face the brutal, honest fact: This is not YOUR game. I'm sorry but it's just not. I have lived here for 8 years too, but the truth remains - you (and I) are not entitled to one speck of input or control of the direction - good or bad - of this game. If you are not on the board of directors or a MASSIVE shareholder, you are entitled to no input whatsoever.

The forums are a fine place for suggestions.

Yeah, peasants! You'll get nothing and like it! Now buy more crowns for your corporate lords, or no fun for you!

...The system works great, doesn't it?
No one is saying there aren't multiple interpretations of the lore, and we're not arguing that ESO did it "wrong".

We're arguing that they decided to go for the most boring, mundane, seen-before interpretation possible. Like they almost always do, unless they can ride on the coat-tails of past games.

    We're still here, aren't we?

There's been plenty of times that ZOS has implemented suggestions from the playerbase, but it's still important to keep our arrogance in check when making suggestions and expecting ZOS to implement them. I am only one player, with one wallet, and ZOS is not designing ESO to appeal to me only.

Just look at the Legacy of the Bretons. Now, I hate the year-long story line idea, but it sells well, so ZOS doesn't listen to my criticisms. But I'm also one of many players who praised Orsinium's smaller, political scope rather than "end of the world" stakes. This year, ZOS decided to appeal to players like me with a lower stakes, political story.

Dude this was more a take on the industry as a whole than just ZOS. Reason we're here is because:

    1. We like the game.
    2. Nearly every other AAA game behaves the same way when it comes to customer relations. We dont have options in that regard.

So I'm not poking fun at ESO specifically here. I was poking fun at the games industry in general.

@Amethyst_Unearthed, this is a quote of Gilliam from July, 22nd. It is part of the first response to U35 feedback. And yes, I am defending the Devs now.
... A friendly reminder that providing data always helps us far more than anecdotal feedback, though both are still welcome. ...

I hope it stands out just how diplomatically he outlined what feedback they need. And how dissatisfied he is on what they get. If you read the entire article, it becomes very clear.

I see it this way: They need feedback and they know that they need it, too. And they even appreciate it.
But, the format in which it is presented is the problem. They need DATA, Numbers, Combat Logs. Things, they can analyze with their tools.

Every PTS cycle, you can see hundreds of people giving "anecdotal feedback". Or even worse, somethings along the lines of: I don't like this, you have to revert this!
    How is that helpful?

If you read PTS posts carefully, you will also quickly get the impression that a significantly high number of people giving feedback on the PTS, haven't even tested it on the PTS. They read the Patch Notes and start letting out their fears and worries.

    Not helpful. Not at all.

A giant haystack of feedback and the Devs are supposed to search for the needle themselves?

Implementing a forum thread with suggestions is not a bad option. This does not bear responsibility and obligations for ZOS, but it will be a good style for the developer, especially if the team celebrates interesting ideas (certain zos emoji). Even if the idea is not included in the plan, we will be able to understand that we are being read and our creativity is being evaluated.

This forum is full of suggestions and ideas and everyone is entitled to share their thoughts. Just do not expect ZOS to implement them. The majority of the ideas and suggestions are coming from an isolated and biased points of view. There are hundreds of thousand people playing this game and everyone has different ideas and demands based on his prefered play style. And everybody claims that their ideas are as important and good as the next one.
You are paying money to play the game and nothing more. The product you are buying does not include a "game developer h.c." title and ZOS is a game developer company, not a juke box.

The reason why FF14 is the number 1 mmorpg with a massive loyal fan base is because they listen and care.
Meanwhile at ZOS : You are paying money to play the game and nothing more, we don't care that we constantly losing players, our vision is the only thing that matters.
